The Pokemon World (sign ups!)
Pokemon World
Although I've only been here a short while, I've been able to tell that this is indeed a Pokemon site; however, as far as Pokemon role playing threads, we seem to have a lack thereof. So, allow me to do the honors of starting one up!
************************************************** *************************************************
In this rpg, you can be a trainer, or a Rocket. Everyone starts as a trainer, but you can "convert" later if you'd like. Rules will be played like the Anime; like, if you were fighting Brock, it would be a two vs two match, not your six vs his two. Also, the fighting will also be Anime style. For example, Double Team will indeed create clones of yourself, however Swift can destroy them all and find the original guy. Surf will indeed cause you to surf over to your opponent, engulfing them in a gigantic wave. However, expect Thunder to hurt a ton more if you are wet. Stuff like that.
This rpg takes place five years after Ash Ketchum becomes the Champion (remember when you beat the Elite Four for the second time in Leaf Green/Fire Red? Yeah, we're starting five years after then.) You will recieve a letter from Professor Oak (if you are a trainer, which I would hope most if not all of you will be,) telling you that Mewtwo and his army of enhanced Pokemon clones has captured Ash Ketchum and has taken control of Indigo Plateau. Mewtwo has joined forces with Team Rocket, so Mewtwo and the new leader of Team Rocket, Grak'nash, are sitting at the top of Indigo Plateau, controlling everything.
It is a desperate situation; with Team Rocket in control of Indigo Plateau, and Ash Ketchum out of business, people are giving up and joining Team Rocket. In an effort to stop any more trainers from ever reaching them, they have placed higher expectations on the gyms around the world. Some of the higher gym leaders are even having one their Pokemon replaced with one of Mewtwo's enhanced Pokemon clones.
It's up to you to figure out what's going on; whether it's a really really long note Professor Oak sends you, or through a news program... whatever. You can come from anywhere in the country; remember, Professor Oak only sends letters to people in Kanto, so make sure that you are in Kanto. Also, this is the Leaf Green/Fire Red version we are doing, so you may use the newer Pokemon, like Larvitar. As far as starters, Professor Oak will give you one if you don't have one already; you may choose any of the starters from any of the games, except Ruby and Sapphire (you can choose from Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Tododile.) If you'd like to already have a starter, by all means bring one with you. However, I ask that your starter be common, like Gastly, or Ponyta, or Pikachu. Larvitar is most definitely not common (sorry, Tyranitar lovers! You can catch one later, though.)
On a final note: the letter will end telling you to come see him to recieve your starter Pokemon (whether or not you already have one.) Everything will begin in Pallet Town.
************************************************** *************************************************
As far as battling other players... I still haven't figured out a good way to do it, so for now I'll just say that you shouldn't be battling other role players (at the moment.)
************************************************** *************************************************
Okay, now time for the sign up form:
Name: (It would be helpful if you just kept the same name, or perhaps a similar name, as your registered Pokemasters user name, but if you'd like to use a different one, by all means.)
Age: (try to keep it between 10 and 26 years of age, please!)
Home: (where do you live? Cinnabar? Pallet? Saffron?)
Physical Description: (size, weight, face, what you wear on the day you get the letter.....)
Personality: (what are you like? What do you like? What bugs you?)
Background: (nothing long and fancy... just something to tell us what kind of family you're living in, like, are you rich or poor? Are you the first trainer in your family, or were there others? What's your education?)
Starter: (again, hopefully self explanatory, since I explained what should be a starter in a previous paragraph.)
Other: (this can be anything you are skilled with, or, if you prefer to knock other senseless, by all means.)
Also... in my previous experiences of role playing mass amounts of people in one thread, I've found it can be difficult to tell who is where and when. So, when replying, if everyone would please use this setup at the top of your post:
Name:
Team:
Location:
Time of Day:
And please end your posts with this:
Team:
Location:
Time of Day:
Your team is your Pokemon team. Location- be a little more specific than "Viridian City," because someone else might be in Viridian City, however they might be in a Pokemon Center when you might be hanging out behind the gym.
Although it seems weird to have the time of day written, it actually is quite helpful; this will help us all move along in the same pattern. For example:
Yero
[F] Jigglypuff (Jiggles), [M] Squirtle (Coolio), [F] Goldeen (Flo)
Lost in Viridian Forest, headed for Viridian City
6:00pm
[Insert role playing text here]
[F] Jigglypuff (Jiggles), [M] Squirtle (Coolio), [F] Goldeen (Flo), [M] Caterpie (Wormguy)
Still lost in Viridian Forest, headed for Viridian City
9:00pm
What this tells the next person is, Yero was lost in the forest for three hours. Yero has probably made progress forward. If someone was just entering the forest, they probably wouldn't catch up to him.
In this specific example, if Yero was in a group with someone, the next person's post would look like this:
Molly
[F] Beautifly, [M] Sandshrew (Sandy)
Still lost in Viridian Forest, headed for Viridian City
9:00pm
[Insert role playing text here]
[F] Beautifly, [M] Sandslash (Sandy)
Viridian City Pokemon Center
9:30pm
See? It works even if you're not in Yero's group... it prevents the Yero group from getting too far ahead, and it helps other people when deciding, "Hmm, Yero says he was lost in the woods for three hours... that means that the walk through the woods won't be easy, and it's an awfully long walk, it's not just like a thirty minute hike... well, it might be, Yero is just lost..."
This also helps if someone isn't on for a few days... they get behind a day, but know exactly how much time was lost, and where everyone was and at what specific time. Trust me, it takes a few seconds to type in a time, and it works wonders.
************************************************** *************************************************
And now, my sign up:
Name: Yero Thropp
Age: 18
Home: Indigo Plateau
Physical Description: Tall, about 6'1. Yero isn't the biggest of guys, but he is built a little bit. He has dark brown, curly hair cut short, and crystal blue eyes. Smooth complexion. He wears dirty blue jeans and a black t-shirt with flames embroidered on the bottom of the t-shirt, the stitched flames licking up his chest. He has black boots, and he wears black biker gloves.
Personality: Although he is still a nice guy, he has become a bit more rough and edgy with people ever since the Mewtwo attack. Quiet when alone, yet tries to be a little more social when with people; his main focus is to rescue his father.
Background: Yero is the son of Lance, the Dragon Trainer. He grew up loving dragon Pokemon in the Indigo Plateau. Very wealthy, until Mewtwo attacks. Yero's father, along with the other Elite Four and Ash Ketchum, were held hostage. Yero managed to escape the Indigo Plateau, and called Professor Oak immediately about the crisis. Professor Oak then quickly ordered a mass mailing for new trainers, issuing hundreds of letters throughout Kanto. Yero is now on his way to Pallet Town.
Starter: A Charmander he recieves from Professor Oak.
Other: None (I never was a big fan of destroying poor other...)
((Oh, and if you could please separate words in different color like I did on my sign up sheet... it makes it SO much easier to read! Thanks!))

Advanced Trainer
Re: The Pokemon World (sign ups!)
An ASB style pokemon RPG is already in the planning stages in the ASB/RPG sub-forum. Unfortunately all planning seems to have completely stalled as I have heard nothing from the few who were working on it in many months. In general, as you want to run this as an ASB RPG for pokemon there is going to be a slight problem. All of your ASB battles will have to be conducted either via PM or off the board and the battles then would have to be compiled into story style posts. There won't be any additional threads for battles between players in the RPG.
I am not going to close this but either you will have to alter it to a straight RPG or you will have to conduct all of the ASB side of it privately. Alternately, I suggest you post in the ASB/RPG sub-forum expressing your interest in helping to get that up and running. Maybe a little expressed interest by new blood will rekindle everyone's efforts to that end.

Re: The Pokemon World (sign ups!)
Hmmm, I understand your point... didn't think that the ASB thing would be a problem, then again, I don't think things through sometimes... okay, I will reform!
Edit: Okay, so I really couldn't think of anything for roleplayer vs roleplayer, however I hope to solve this issue in the future. Regardless, I have changed the sign up form, and if that was the only thing wrong, then this rpg is still a go-go! [/hopeful]
