For my brother's bday, I plan on giving him Mario Party for GC, but considering there are 3893498083904 versions out and I'm no video game expert, recommend me which one's the best?

I'd go with Mario Party 7 because it's the newest.

I liked Mario Party 5 because you got to design the board yourself, in a way. The items could be used or just place on the board and have that same effect only long-term. While it normally was smarter to use the items, it was just fun filling the board with crazy shit. And let's be honest, Mario Party is not about skill nine times out of ten.

EDIT: If you want the best of the Franchise...either 1 or 2. Two did get rid of the all the thumbstick twirling but both are solid. After that they decided to get lazy and throw in games that are nothing more than glorified dice rolls.
