/does a weakness analysis, then notices this is RBY and reworks it/  Well, you've got a 3x weakness to Bug, but who cares? The only opponents you really need to worry about there are Beedrill, whom Alakazam can pretty handily blast, and a Jolteon getting lucky with 5-hit Pin Missiles, which it won't for more than one turn before Nidoking destroys it. Carry on then.

Yeah, Bug isn't that much of a weakness in RBY, if only because there are no powerful Bug moves whatsoever. Looking good as an overall team in that respect.

Nidoking: I don't really see any problems here. Blizzard's a little inaccurate, so Ice Beam might be just a tad better for tournament play, where one stretch of bad luck can be costly. Otherwise, it looks solid.

Alakazam: Psychic's obviously a must, and Seismic Toss could work well. I'm not certain about Recover, though, because of Alakazam's horribly weak Defense. Physical attackers may knock Alakazam out before you have a chance to Recover sufficiently, so it might be better served as a pure Special Sweeper (plus Seismic Toss for good measure, which you have). Then again, I'm not entirely sure what would be better... maybe Double Team, thus switching its role? Or Toxic, perhaps? Meh, others here with more experience might have better advice with that slot.

Vaporeon: Not bad; I notice Blizzard again, though; make sure you don't rely on it too much, as it isn't the most accurate of moves, as mentioned before. Mimic's the only real concern, as you can't really control what sort of moves you'll be up against. I'm almost tempted to suggest Skull Bash despite Vaporeon's low Attack, just to keep from relying on Mimic. Again, I'm hardly the most experienced rater, so others will probably have better advice in regard to specific moves and movesets.

Zapdos: Okay, no real problems here. Rest is good with the strong HP, T-Bolt is a must, Drill Peck is strong, and Thunder Wave's fine as well. Carry on.

Primeape: Counter's a little questionable, but I guess it's doable. Either Focus Energy or Substitute could work well; I prefer Focus Energy myself, but I suppose it's mostly a matter of personal preference. You don't really have a good Physical Sweeper - EQ's the only powerful Physical move in your arsenal aside from Primeape's moves - so Focus Energy might be better here, as you don't need Substitute for another Tank.

Starmie: Man, you love Thunder Wave, don't you? Starmie's a solid tank, so Recover is wise, and T-Bolt and Surf are good for it's good Special stat. Not bad at all.

Overall: Good lineup here. There aren't really any gaps in your coverage of opposing types, and you've done a fairly good job of getting a good range of roles for team members. Pretty good judgment of moves overall, too, and you're not overexploiting legendaries.

This is a pretty darn good team you've assembled. Kudos to you for developing a RBY team, as well. Very nice.

Alakazam should replace Seismic Toss with a better Special Attack. It can learn Ice Beam, right? ...Can it learn Solarbeam? Solarbeam would be great. Those nasty Ground types will only be able to get one attack in. Then you can recover away! ^_^ (Who would have two Pokemon like Golem on their team, anyway?)

Actually, Alakazam can't learn either; I was actually searching for something else to take advantage of that high Special Attack, and there was nothing there! (Hence why I didn't suggest something like that.) The closest you can get are elemental punches through GSC TMs (since you can't trade Shadow Ball back to RBY if I recall correctly), and even if you're able to do that, those moves aren't exactly superb. I never realized before just how much of a limited movepool Alakazam had in RBY.

Regarding the use of Focus Energy on Primeape, I just remembered something. Wasn't Focus Energy rendered useless in RBY because of an unfortunate programming glitch that caused it to lower your CH rate instead of raising it? If you're considering Focus Energy, make sure the arena you're fighting in doesn't have that glitch.

Incidentally, Magmar, the use of Seismic Toss on Alakazam isn't a bad idea because it's useful as backup if you come up against a foe who resists your special attacks too easily...such as another Alakazam.

Alakazam with Ice Punch would indeed be quite handy. Maybe you'd freeze the other Alakazam. That'd be sweet. O=]

that is the only usable nidoking set in the metagame. anything that can get thunderbolt/blizzard is cool in my book, but he has that above-average speed for a ground pokemon. blizzard > eggy. i don't know about leading with him though. most teams lead with starmie, and that's just a baaadd matchup.

kazam is perfect. don't touch him. seismic toss is important for chansey's, and other psychic pokemon if you get tired of Psychic not special-falling enough.

vaporeon...meh. as cool as vaporeon is, he's not THAT useable. mimic is crap. it might be fun in-game, but whatever. i guess this is all you can do with him. :/

zapdos is cool. resting doesn't work real well in RBY. so it might a better idea to find a filler for that slot. pretty much anything would do. all you'll really be doing is twaving everything and then attacking.

primeape is thumbs down. good underused pokemon, bad move selection. it needs focus energy. it needs body slam. it needs hyper beam. no counter, no submission. maybe keep rock slide on there. so....focus energy/body slam/rock slide/hyper beam. or...maybe low kick over rock slide, because otherwise, you're gonna be hurting against rhydon/golem, but then that would leave you vulnerable to gengar. your choice.

starmie is cool. surf isn't actually necessary. maybe blizzard over surf? this starmie gets eaten alive by eggy. but, starmie wouldn't usually be out against an eggy anyway, for fear of paralyzation.

overall, the team would be perfect if you drop vaporeon. vaporeon is crap. add...tauros, persian, or snorlax.

    tauros- hyper beam/earthquake/body slam/blizzard
    snorlax- self-destruct/earthquake/hyper beam/body slam
    persian- screech/slash/hyper beam/bubblebeam

    or...you could get creative...and use a dodrio

    dodrio- drill peck/body slam/hyper beam/doesn't matter.
