I decided to get off my ass and buy emerald version.

I was bored and wanted some pokemon action but it's also a chance to get a good team up. I know they have Ev reducing berries on emerald but I'd still rather keep my treecko in the PC so I make sure all of the EVs are gone (except for the zigzagoon at the start and some others but their covered, 3 speed and 1spcl atk so far which is fine). So now I've just got the pokedex and can chuck my treecko in the PC until later. Meaning I'll have to pick up another pokemon for using. So what do you think I should train instead out of my small amount of choices. Any ideas? I can't think . Thanks for your help.

I actually recommend considering a Zigzagoon as a battler. In Emerald, they've reworked Pickup yet again, this time so that the higher-level a Pickupper is, the better items it can find. (Silly Nintendo thinks it can discourage HMers. They'll see.) I've actually done a single-fighter game on Emerald, using Linoone. Good times.

I think I'll try a zigzagoon then, mabye. I never knew pickup had changed. What changes has it gone through? (I should have kept upto date with pokemon during the past 7 or 8 months or so).

With the exception of the Battle Pyramid (which is completely new to Emerald), the items that a Pokemon with Pickup can retreive are determined by level. Each ten-level increment has its own set of items that can be recovered, with some more likely than others. If you want the lists, the can be found on this GameFAQs guide (do I ever reference anything else?).

Incidentally, since you don't seem to know, Pickup changed between Ru/Sa and FR/LG, too. In FR/LG you'd find a lot of Berries...hang on, I've got the list somewhere...

I just bought it today, and the Prima guide...and Kingdom Hearts 2 and the guide...something to fall back on if I have trouble, BUT...my brother lost his GBA SP...now I have to either waste money on a GBA SP or on a DS, when I was going to wait for DS Lite...I can't even find the piece to play GBA games on my GC...

Thanks for the pick up info. But I ended up catching a poochyena while searching for a zigzagoon for the fact that I realised I'd have to train up a fair amount overwise for beating the first gym. I might end up picking up 2 pokemon though to make it easier.

And grr at the USA having kingdom hearts 2 already. I want it so much.
