is there any way to get a YouTube video into some kind of iPod video format? or even just the audio part to the video works.
thanks.

Use this to get the video:
http://keepvid.com/
Use this to convert to MPEG-4:
http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/download.htm
ok, i get it through the keepvid and it becomes get_video.flv.htm .
i try the media coder but it doesn't transcode due to an error...
what am i doing wrong?

Change get_video.flv.htm to video_name.flv replacing video_name with whatever you want. Because from the looks of it the media coder will think your feeding it a webpage.

um, i'm still encountering problems...
could someone do it for me possibly? just pm me with the attachment or email me. pm me for the email if it doesn't show up. i'm not particularly tech-savvy so this would really be helpful.

What I do is is when I find a video I want to save, I delete everything in the URL except for the video ID, then I paste before that http://youtube.com/get_video.php?l=165&video_id=, so it would look something like this:
BEFORE:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AcPvRdd6OY
AFTER:
http://youtube.com/get_video.php?l=1...id=7AcPvRdd6OY
You should get a popup asking what to save it as. Just type in something and end it with .flv.
What I use afterwards is a program called Cinemaforge, and to my knowledge, it's free. I've been using my trial for ages now and it doens't look like it's going to quit. The bad part is, once you convert the video from .flv to an .mpeg, the filesize will balloon. So a 35 meg .flv video will somehow become something like 70 megs of .mpeg, along with a few .jpg files for thumbnail use. From there, use a video editor such as Windows Movie Maker, and there you can convert it to a .wmv to a much smaller filesize.
