Deep in space… there is a radiating crystal star called “Amnesiti”. While it was named by modern astronomers, it is not visible from earth and required speculation and intense telescopic help. The star is highly unstable, and every once in a great while the star releases a large pulsating wave that ripples across the universe… [font=tahoma]

It’s a beautiful sunny day with a gentle breeze blowing off the lake as you go about your daily college routine. You attend Carthage College – a college that is right off of Lake Michigan and located in the state of Wisconsin. Despite the beautiful day, everything seems normal and you simply go about your basic routine without taking notice of anything strange. It seems like everything is going the way it does everyday when suddenly- it hits. [font=tahoma]
The pulsating wave from the star, Amnesiti, finally came into contact with some thing- earth. The wave engulfed the earth but within a second of contact- it dispersed and was gone. Scientists had not seen the wave coming, nor did they even know it hit. In fact, no one knew the wave had hit earth or had seen it- except for a select few.[font=tahoma]
A blinding white light suddenly takes up your vision as you give a slight cry of surprise. However, as soon as the light fades… you don’t feel anything was wrong and you are left confused as to what happened. Deep inside you feel a slight twinge of change… as if something new had been awakened inside of you. However, this feeling was similar to any other feeling of “happiness” or “excitement” so you disregard it as if it were nothing.
Later that night… you realize that something inside of you has awakened. Suddenly a new power emerges from you… a strange mutant-like ability that you never knew you were capable of doing before. It is unique and seems to strangely coincide with what you were doing when the brilliant flash of light hit you. However, you are not the only one who is affected. A few other people on campus are affected too… and unknown to you- a few people of the world are also affected. Suddenly people begin to show powers- some of them quite stupid while others are simply fantastical.
Of course… as it is with any power, people who come into contact with it are given a choice- use this power for good, or for bad. While you decide to use the power for good… a few others have not made that same decision. Taking it upon yourself (along with a few others), you decide that it is up to you and your friends to take on other “mutants” who have decided to use their powers for destruction.
… And yet you still have to attend class. College will never be the same again.

In the world, there are a few people with a mutated gene. This gene is called the “Potential Gene”. Only a select few people have this gene… and people who do have the gene have different severities of it. While some people may only have a very slight Potential mutation, others can have a very severe Potential mutation. When the wave from the star, Amnesiti, hit the earth… it triggered the Potential Gene. However, the light merely imprinted whatever the person was doing at the time (that it hit) so that his or her Potential Gene harvested powers from that activity. Some people were doing rather mundane or regular things at the time, so thus their powers might not be as great or useful compared to others who were doing different activities. Of course… and the amount of power you have depends on how severe your Potential Gene mutation is. However… in this RPG, everyone who is playing a character will have a severe Potential Gene mutation. (You can just have fun with the NPCs who might not have it.)

Alright! This is an RPG that my friends Bryan, Pat and I came up with. I wanted to start an RPG really badly and they helped me think one up! So here it is… anyways, this is a CLOSED RPG… so only sign up if you’ve been invited. If you have not been invited, but would really like to join the RPG… PM me, and I’ll see if I can make an exception. (Most likely I will. ^_^ ) I like taking people who really want to be in my RPGs anyways!
In any case, there will be a few minor villains at first (local evils) and then I will be introducing more major villains. Don’t think of this RPG like a “mutant” RPG… but think of it more as a “Super Hero” RPG. The beginning of it will consist of mostly humor and “getting to know” your powers at first. Your powers will grow throughout the RPG… being less controllable and minor at first, and then becoming easily controlled and powerful as the RPG goes on.

The college setting is based on my college… so here is a small description:

CARTHAGE COLLEGE: It is a small private campus with about 2000 people and is located right against Lake Michigan in Wisconsin. It has the normal facilities that any other college would have as well. It has a recreational center with a swimming pool, a few basketball courts, a rock climbing wall, racket courts, weightlifting rooms, a dance room etc… The college also has a cafeteria, a food court with pizza, chicken and subs and a mail room located in the same building. There is also a café located in the Library building where you can get smoothies, sandwiches, soup, ice cream, cookies, bagel dogs etc… The college also has a science center connected with the business center and the Theatre, an arts center (art and music), an admissions/class building (where all the other classes go) along with a bookstore in the same building and four main dormitories. (One of them being an all-girls dorm.) There is also a very small all-guys dormitory… but we don’t talk about that. Of course there is a football field, baseball field and softball field as well.

Now, you can pick a powerful power (lol) but I don’t want Godly powers. I will decide if a power is approved or not and I may ask you to choose something else. Name: Kalah Byquest
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Year: Freshman
Appearance: Kalah stands about 5’8 with an athletic build. Her skin is fairly pale although with the summer sun it is slowly starting to tan. Her body type is considered normal by standards, however she does have powerful looking legs (lol) and an aura of a competitor when riled up. Her eyes are a moody blue that seem to strike out from her dark eyelashes. Her hair hangs down past her shoulders and is a semi-dark brown in color, and it quite dead straight when she hasn’t messed with it. She usually wears faded light blue jean shorts with a semi-tight short-sleeved white shirt with a small LA logo upon the front in sky blue letters. She also either wears blue flip flops or white sandals and constantly has a silver bracelet around her wrist.
Personality: Kalah is pretty much always cheerful and optimistic. She’s quite playful and has a “live in the moment” outlook on life, although she can be reflective upon the past. She’s very compassionate and loyal towards her friends and the only time her temper flares is usually when her friends are insulted or troubled by others. She’s very, very protective of her friends and things she cares about. However, she does tend to worry a lot and often adapts to other’s personalities rather than her own.
Major/Minor: Her major is Theatre and Chinese, minor in communications.
Activity: Kalah was sitting amongst the rocks of Lake Michigan, looking up at the seagulls and wishing that she could be someone/something else for a while.
Power: Transformation - She gained the power to transform into any living being.

History: Kalah has always tried to do her best around campus and to be busy. Her habit of getting ‘sick’ seems to occasionally thwart her plans, but she has always bounced back. She has been working hard with her double major and has immersed herself in intramural sports. She often can be found playing outside, and when she’s not… she’s inside her dormitory writing or drawing. She’s involved in a club called the “Kung Fu Movie Club” which is a club designed to help others in need while sharing a common love of Kung Fu movies. She is and has been quite involved with Theatre and recently has been trying to get into Choir. Most of all however, she just likes to be with her friends and finds the most joy with them.

Age: 19
Year: First year Sophomore...yay for transfer credits
Appearance: Matt is an athletic guy. His stands about 6'2'' and weighs around 250 pounds. He's a bit husky, but most of his build is directly related to muscle and bone structure. He is predominantly Native American, giving his skin a browned appearance at all times, but it gets significantly darker with the summer sun. His eyes and hair are both deep brown. Matt also doesn't really see the purpose in shaving, so he often has a scruffy appearance. Otherwise, he has an aura of command about him. Simply by being around him one can tell that he likes to take charge.
Personality: Matt tends to take charge in situations. Especially ones that no one understands. Every group needs a leader, Matt just tends to be that guy. He likes to joke around a lot, but only if the situation is appropriate, and he saves his dry humor for when he intends to do some damage to someone's ego. Matt is also incredible protective of anyone, but especially Kalah. Other than all that, he likes being busy, and gladly accepts challenges. So, this super hero thing is just another thing he needs to learn to do.
Major/Minor: Matt is a Chinese and Digital Communications Major, with a minor in Business
Activity: Matt was in Denhart working on fixing his friend Allie's computer. She has a bad tendency to mess it up, and at this particular case she had managed to jar the connection between the hard drive and motherboard loose. So, he had the back of the laptop taken off and was working on the hardware of the computer when the wave hit him.
Power: Matt can create any piece of technology that he can think of. The downside being, he often doesn't have the necessary components.
Relations: Matt is great friends with Bryan and Duke, and he is going out with Kalah...but they might as well be married.
History: Matt is an outgoing guy, so right off the bat he managed to make a decent number of friends in college. He first met Kalah during a show he was in, and he did his typical outlandish introduction. But, she didn't shy away an inch, he knew right away that she was not a typical girl, but didn't really get a chance to know her until later. He was really busy with other things. He was in three plays over his first year at Carthage. And he managed to found a philanthropy organization called the Kung-Fu Movie Club. After that was rolling he pledged to a fraternity called Delta Upsilon. And that has taken up a great deal of his time. But he's capable of spending a great deal of time with Kalah, which is his one release from all the other stuff going on.
Other: Matt will get rather frustrated knowing that everyone has incredible powers and his is often useless because he doesn't have the write things. So, he begins going a little against his grain and starts swiping components from school labs and media centers.

Name: Bryan Rambert

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Year: Second Semester Sophmore (Indeedy, go transfer creddies)

Appearance: Bryan is of average height and comes from a mixed mid-European heritage. He is a swimmer so while he doesn't have much muscle mass, he is stronger than he looks and possesses a good amount of endurance (he does distance events). He has short brown hair and a noticably receding hairline, something that is mecilessly made fun of by his friends. His eyes are a bright green with streaks of other colors that vary depending on the light. He usually wears black "swishy" pants, a tie-dye shirt, and a soft black jacket with the words "Carhage National Team" embroidered on the back in red.

Personality: Constantly cheerful, Bryan takes the position that things could always be worse, so why moan about how they are now? He enjoys simply hanging out with his friends, laughing uncontrolably at the antics that inevitably happen. He is very studious as well, spending a good part of his time on schoolwork.

Major/Minor: Biology/Chemistry (Pre-Med)

Activity: When the wave hit, Bryan was focused intently on one of the most difficult Calculus problems he had encoutered in class yet. At the moment the wave hit he had just achieved that flash of inspiration when a problem suddenly falls into place.

Power: Due to the stimulated state his mind was in when the wave hit, Bryan's inherent mental powers were enhanced. He now possesses a wide array of Psionic powers. Most of his powers revolve around telekinetics, the ability to manipulate the world around him with his mind (shields, blasts, leviation, etc.) He also gained some forms to telepathy, including a limited ability to sense intentions and surface thoughts of people around him under severe concentration. (EDIT: For clarification as requested. Bryan doesn't hear surface thoughts as acutal thoughts like "I'm hungry" or "DIE!" but rather as something of a mental buzz that he can get some ideas of emotions or intentions from.)

Relations: Bryan is close friends with Duke, Kalah, and Matt. He has a girlfriend at another college named Emily who, of yet, does not know of his powers.

History: Bryan is a member of the Carthage Swim Team. Currently the best distance swimmer on the team, much of his time is devoted to training or traveling to meets. He is also a member of the KFMC mentioned before. A benefactor of the colleges Lincoln Scholarships (full-ride, something else that his friends rip on a lot), Bryan also has duties relating to the College's public relations.

Other: Bryan's powers are incredibly varied and thus require intense concentration to bring about some of the moe remarkable effects. Also, due to their variation, he has less pure strength in any ability than someone who specialized solely on that ability (i.e. Shielding). Although he can overcome that power with some amount of finesse, he will inevitably be more drained than one who's power was meant for the situatin.

Name: Pat Bailie

Gender: Male

Age: 20

Year: Sophomore

Appearance: Pat stands about 6’1” with an athletic build. Pat is a mexican-american so his skin is tanned all the time and only gets darker in the summer. His body type is normal, though looks more proportionate in his legs then his torso. His eyes are a dark brown almost seeming black when seeing them at night. His hair is black and is short yet, gives the appearance of volume all around him which then leads to the front having a wave-like cowlick. Usually he wears loose fitting dark brown cargo pants with a loose dark short-sleeved shirt and over that his grey Carthage hooded sweatshirt or gray shorts with a black buttoned up dress shirt. He usually wears black vans or brown sandals. On some occasions he wears a beaded necklace with attached silver ring carved with a rather strange jagged symbol.

Personality: Pat gives off the appearance of someone that seems not to want to be bothered and seems stone faced, though he tries to be as polite and kind hearted as he can. Those that get to know him find him rather eccentric and is absent minded. He trusts everyone easily and doesn’t question their motives until they prove otherwise. He’s easily tempered at times and flies off the handle when tension runs high. He’s loyal to his friends and is always well to help anyone in need.

Major/Minor: Major: Business Administration / Minor: Psychology

Activity: Pat was sitting by a campfire and while adding more wood to the fire he burned his hand

Power: Fire Conjuring –The power to conjure and manipulate fire

Relations: Pat is friends with Bryan, Kalah, Jon, Neal and Matt.

History: As a sophomore Pat has tried to set his course in life, though this year seems to have put many questions into his mind about what he wants to do for a living. After being so busy last year, he’s tried to take it easier on his social and school duties to try and enjoy his college life, letting events sort of occur at will rather then planned. He recently decided on adding a minor in psychology in order to perhaps explore other classes besides business. Pat usually can be either found in his room or the rooms of others or outside. Mostly inside he watches TV, plays video games, or explores the mysteries of the internet. While outside he enjoys walking along the beach staring at the stars above.

Name: Rob Johnson
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Year: Sophomore
Appearance: He has short brown hair which is kept slightly spiked. His eyes are a deep blue. He is about 6' 2" and has a large muscular build. He usually just wears jeans, trainers/sneakers (if you're a Yank) and depending on the weather either a sleeveless t-shirt or a long-sleeved t-shirt, both of which have the Carthage College Football Team logo on them.
Personality: He's a party animal, effectively, but not really a Jock, so to speak. While he sometimes parties with his fellow football players, he prefers to stick within his own circle of friends. He doesn't use his status as a football player to pick on 'nerds' or 'geeks' and is generally a friendly guy. As a sportsman, he's naturally competitive and up for a challenge, or anything to be honest.
Major/Minor: Economics/Marketing
Activity: He was playing running back for the Carthage College Football Team and the team were on offence. He made a run and a large player stepped in his way. Summing up all his strength, he shoulder-barged the other player out of the way, and this is when the wave hit.
Power: Vastly increased muscle strength. Put simply, every single one of his muscle has become far stronger, although there is a only a very slight difference in his muscle tone. It will be quite uncontrollable to start off with and he will just be brute force to begin with, but in time he will be able to control the muscles independently, for example, enhance only his legs for faster running or higher jumps. Of course, the stronger he makes his muscles, the heavier they become.
Relations: None that need to be mentioned.
History: Joined the football team this year after being in the reserves as a Freshman. Likes the status but hates the bad-rep he gets from those who typically complain about college football sucking up funds (Drama and Art people). Otherwise, not much really.

Gender: Male
Age: 21
Year: College Junior
Appearance: With a six foot, two inch height, Ryan is anything but small. His appearance is a bit lanky even though he is trying to regain his muscular build he once had. He’s clean-shaven and has hazel eyes with short cut black hair that he always comes to the left side. Ryan usually wears shorts with a black belt around it, and a Dallas Cowboys T-Shirt to tease Kalah and her friends.
Personality: Ryan can be best summed up in that he is somewhat weird. He can be outlandish and crazy with his actions sometimes, while quiet and reserved at other times. He usually keeps a smile on his face when around other people and only really lets Kalah see the real him. He enjoys teasing people a lot and exploiting things that he knows will make people upset, yet sometimes he is unaware of when he goes too far.
Major/Minor: Video Game Design/Political Science
Activity: Playing a game of Hide and Go Seek

History: Transferred to Carthage late last year, he came from Texas and is completely not used to the cold weather. He has spent the time getting to know his fellow classmates and now takes part in several clubs, although his favorite is the College Republicans.

Name: Pang Ven Xhin, but she introduces herself as Carys, since most people can’t pronounce her real name correctly.
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Year: Freshman
Appearance: Definitely not tall(5”2 at most), has layered black hair that falls about four inches past her shoulders with purple highlights. Her fringe(which is slightly too long) is all over her face messily, and she is quite fair, with brown eyes that tilt slightly upward at the ends, showing her Chinese heritage. She dresses very casually, and usually can’t be bothered much with her appearance, and she generally wears sneakers or flip flops. There is always a silver chain with a star shaped pendant around her neck though.
Personality: Around people she isn’t familiar with, she would be really quiet, and not speak much. However, once among friends, she’s as boisterous and noisy as the next person. She doesn’t really make friends very easily as she tends to be a little shy, however, sometimes she is seized by a weird outgoing part of her nature, just another quirk of hers. She has a rather twisted sense of humour, and can laugh at the weirdest things, and sometimes does not have any sense of the appropriate.
Major/Minor: Chemistry/Biology (errr… >.> I don’t know a thing about Majosr and Minors since I’m doing ALevels right now…)
Activity: Day dreaming by the lake shore while she was supposed to be doing homework and wishing that she could have a nice bar of chocolate.
Power: The ability to make what she imagines real, however this only applies for organic(and definitely edible!) materials(basically she can't create synthetic materials like plastic, but processed stuff made out of organic materials should still be possible). She also cannot really create any living creature because it would sap energy from her life force, but she can create very small things(like insects) and give them a semblance of life for a limitted period of time, however, she has no control over what she creates or imagines. She can't create anything too big or complicated as doing this drains a lot of her energy, and should she ever overextend herself too much, she will die. ((I'm taking the definition of organic materials as "carbon-containing substances found in plants, animals, and their remains." or basically anything that was once alive.))
Relations: none at the moment
History: She just came to this college recently, basically still quite a new kid on the block, trying very hard to adjust to a whole new lifestyle. She’s also experiencing culture shock as she had a totally different life back in M’sia. Basically she’s getting used to things, and doesn’t really know what’s going on. Her interests are photography and writing, er, so she joined the journalism club(??is there one?). As of now, she isn't very active yet, still trying to get the hang of things. And she loves the cold weather, though she's not too used to it yet.
Other: She’s also quite addicted to video games – namely Kingdom Hearts II which is currently eating up all of her free time.

Appearance: She stands at 5'1 and is rather thin and pale. Her hair is a chocolate brown and lies straight down at her shoulders and her eyes are a mix of blue, gray and green. She wears a dark green shirt with a lighter green shirt connected underneath - they're sewn to be the same but the lighter green sleeves are longer than the dark green sleeves (basically, you see the dark green shirt but with the light green sleeves popping out). She also wears black jeans, black socks and sneakers
Personality: She's quiet and sort of antisocial. She likes to be around people but what she says can put people off, despite her good intentions. She's conservative when it comes to some social activities - no smoking, drinking or partying. She'd rather play video games or board games than using drugs
Major/Minor: Computer and Digital Forensics
Activity: Reading a book when she accidentally runs her finger across the side of a page and gets a paper cut
Power: The power to turn her hands into weapons with a sharp edge (this include swords, daggers, kamas, glaives, etc.). Her arms turn a dull gray and her hands shift into the weapon of choice. She's immune to rust but not heat and the edges are able to cut into anything, save diamonds. The only downside to this power is that she needs to see a picture of the weapon before she can "hand-shift"
Relations: None right now but I'm open to anything
History: Is from Massachusetts but still hates the cold. She's part of the bowling team and Gaming Club because she loves her video games...and TV...and being lazy altogether ._.

Can you be a bit more specific? Being able to conjure anything up from your imagination seems a bit extreme... and I'll need specifics and some limitations. Just because Doomy has a power that is where he can create any invention he thinks of with the right components... (ehehhehe... gonna be hard to find many of those..) and it would take away from his power if you could just 'think' up an invention and then have it appear. Just want a bit more specifics so I know what you mean. ^_^;

Name: Neal Pratchett

Year: Freshman, soon to be sophomore
Appearance: Neal stands roughly 6'2"-6'3" and weighs only about 170-180 lbs. and PALE! He's thin and kind of a nerd in appearance. He's usually seen wearing blue jeans/ khakis, a white over coat and sneakers.Neal also has difficulty sleeping so he's developed dark circles under his eyes, which have sunken in, giving him a rather gaunt look. He wears his brown hair (which has begun to gray) parted on one side and a moustache goatee combo. He looks more like a professor than a student, which has caused him some problems to be honest.
Personality: Bitter
Major/Minor: Classics/ Creative Writting
Activity: when the event happend I was in the library reading (perhaps sleeping on top of) atleast 3 books at once.
Power: Can now obtain and apply all knowledge from typed media ( i.e. I touch a book and know everything in it, and can do basically anything from it, such as mathematical ecquations and formulae). Also may jump from book to book, as in may jump within one copy of Lord of the Rings and out of another copy of Lord of the Rings.
Relations: Neal hangs out with Matt and Kalah, knows Duke and Bryan, and is decent friends with Jon
History: In all actuality Neal doesn't just look nerdy he is nerdy! He's an alright guy a bit on the annoying side and tends to be quiet for a greater portion of the time. He's had few friends at college and the ones he does have he holds dear.

Appearance: Jon is 5'11'' with an ahtletic build. He is a bit on the smaller side weighing 165 pounds. He likes to wear blue jeans that show off his muscular legs and a tighter shirt to show off his toned but not built upper body. Running shoes and a cool beaded neclace are always on, and his brown hair is the stereotypical anime spiked.
Personality: Jon is generally a laid back guy. He is usually quiet but when he speaks he either has something very important, intelligent, or funny to say. Jon isnt the leader but more of a right hand man. He has the ability to lead and deffinetly gets the job done, but doesnt always need the spotlight. He has his values, but they are usually mixed, one thing for sure, is that he values his friends and will go to great lengths to help them. Jon will take a lot of crap and usually shrug it off, but push too many buttons, or hit a certain nerve and he will explode in a powerfull rage no mortal could comprehend.

History: Jon is a fairly outgoing person, hell try most anything once. He likes sports, but excelles in the more unconventional ones. (bowling, kendo (martial arts), and downhill ski racing) Although he can be very busy and active, Jon greatly appreciates a good nap and relaxation.
Other: He has a highly accomplished death glare. (very intimidating)

Appearance: Average height for a guy, but extremely skinny (6 ft. and 140 lbs.) and with comparatively very little physical strength; he has a medium-light skin tone, and his eyes are mostly green except for a small (almost unnoticeable) splotch of blue in his right eye (your left if you're looking at him); his hair is dark brown and frizzy, now that he's letting it grow out (it's almost half a foot long). For clothes he's rather boring in his slightly baggy blue or black jeans and T-shirt, however all of his T-shirts have either an amusing or a geek/gamer picture or statement.
Personality: Mike is the kind of guy who's a perfect balance of "head in the clouds" and "feet firmly on the ground." He loves to dream and imagine cool, unrealistic things happening, but when it gets down to the serious stuff he doesn't fool around. Not that he becomes stone-cold serious, because he almost never is. He's very friendly and open to meeting new people.
Major/Minor: Major in Digital Graphic Design, Minor in Computer Programming (über-nerd!)
Activity: He was playing a very challenging game of In The Groove and was just running through a very fast stream of arrows at the end when the blast hit.
Power: He now has highly enhanced reflexes and speed, although his physical strength is still very low. He's not super-fast like The Flash or anything (so no water-running or anything), and he can't exactly dodge bullets.
