Kimi opened her eyes and looked around looked like an empty plain that seemed to on forever. Above, in the dark sky, a few stars twinkled faintly, and there was a faint shadow of luminescence from the moon, but even with its slight glow, she could barely see two feet in front of her.

By her side padded a large Suicune, making nary a sound on the strange, smooth dark floor. A faint silverish glow surrounded his whole body, illuminating a little of the area. He was called Roka, and he answered only to her. On her other side, Yasuo, a Mewtwo, made his way, floating a few inches above the ground, effortlessly.

“Where are we?” Kimi asked aloud.

I cannot tell, Yasuo responded in his characteristically gentle voice. We seem to have strayed into a dimension unknown.

There is great danger afoot, Roka said, also in her mind. I do not like it.

“Danger?”

I sense a great battle ahead, one like we have never seen before, Roka replied. His facial expression did not change – it rarely did – but his silver aura flared brighter, a sign that he was wary.

Yasuo’s eyes glowed red as he scanned the area.

Something is nearby. Something with as much power as we hold. I advise caution.

Kimi stood up straight, her amber eyes flashing boldly. “Shall we wait here, or shall we go ahead?”

The two Pokemon were silent, and their message was clear. She was to make the choice.

“Very well, then we shall forge ahead, but carefully.”

They nodded, and she moved forward, her faithful companions keeping pace with her.


Okies, the stage has been set, the arena is a dark space that goes on forever, the floor is strange and smooth, but if you wish to dig beneath that’s fine. Rocks and whatnot can be found beneath the surface, but there is none above ground, so if you want a rock, you have to dig it up yourself. There is a large pool nearby, filled with clear water that glows silver, but has no other special properties. It will be a two on two battle, but only one Pokemon out at a time. The only attack that cannot be used her is Sunny Day, as the sky is permenantly dark. There are no other rules, so feel free to do as you wish. Oh yeah, I send first and you attack first. (don’t hurt me, I’m a noob battler!) DQ time will be... 10 days =) .

"Some kind of abyss?" Rick said aloud, looking around into the darkness. It didn't make sense. One moment, he and his Pokemon had been on their way home, then...darkness.Was he dreaming?

Rock grunted, sniffing the air slowly. "Beats me. The air smells...dead. No wind, no flavor, nothing, nada."

"How are we going to get out of here, then?"

"Wait," Trios said, squinting into the darkness. The three lapsed into a tense silence, waiting. Then came the sound of footsteps, echoing across whatever nonexistent acoustics this place possessed. "Someone comes."

They waited a few moments more, then out of nowhere, a girl appeared, born of the darkness rather than leaving it. At her side were a Mewtwo and a Suicune. Rick's mouth gaped, and he could sense Rock's astonishment next to him. Two Legendaries?! Here?

Trios clucked gently, snapping him out of his reverie. "Perhaps we will have to fight to make our exit out of this place.Why else would this girl be here, of all places, with only two Pokemon?"

"You could be right," Rick stuttered, his eyes glued to the strange sight. Who had brought them here? It didn't seem to matter, Trios' words seemed to ring true.And with two Legendaries here...the only logical way to combat them was...

"You're first, Trios,"he muttered, and the blazing avian took flight gracefully, taking to the sky. She hung just low enough to listen to his commands. His shock and confusion began to fade, replaced by the excitement of battle.

"Trios, be careful. We don't know what she'll do."

"Naturally," Trios replied, confident. Rock snorted, obviously annoyed at having to go second.

She stared at the boy, who looked as stunned as her.

She was about to ask him if he knew what was going on, but, it seemed that his Moltres was telling him something.

Yasuo – she began to ask, but he lifted up a hand, and his eyes glowed eerily.

The Moltres is right, he told Kimi. We might have to battle them to get out of here.

“I see,” she said aloud. “Very well.”

Roka’s aura brightened visibly, and she understood what he wanted without him saying a word.

“Roka, dear one, you may go first.” He might have smiled in reply, but his attention was already fixated on the fiery bird, whose light was undimmed by the darkness surrounding it.

That would be the best choice, Yasuo conceded.

“Start with a Rain Dance to call up a storm, then, use whatever large body of water that is nearby and drench Moltres with a Surf, while he’s waterclogged, finish it up with a Bubblebeam. Should he use Double Team at any time, swift the clones away.”

Roka barely nodded, to show that he had heard. Kimi watched, a little worried for her companion, but she trusted him, and she knew that he would give his all during this battle.

Rick tutted to himself, seeing the Suicune step out first. "That was the worst choice for us."What was stranger- neither of her Pokemon seemed to speak. He could only hear the girl's words, going back and forth by herself. Were they capable of telepathy?

"Not exactly," Rock replied quietly, standing next to him. "If I had gone, there would be no way for me to escape the water. Trios can stay airborne."

Trios chirped softly, eyeing her opponent. "It would be best if I could keep that advantage, I think."

"Then let's keep things from getting too wet," Rick said tersely. Telepathy or not, his opponent still didn't know what moves he might make."Create one clone with Double Team. Next, fly up high out of reach of water moves, and fire off an Extrasensory(XD move, all moves allowed, right?)Finish by using a Fire Spin to trap her and block those bubbles."

Trios nodded, shrieking her acknowledgement and swiftly taking to the sky. The Suicune's eyes narrowed, focused on her. Let's hope this works...what will happen to the loser of this battle?

Roka eyes the Moltres as it entered the seemingly endless darkness. Still, her eyes glazed over slightly with a clouded look as the sky above them seemed to gather clouds. Of course, it was hard to see in the darkness so it seemed as if Rain fell from the sky as if from no where. [ - 5 Energy ]. The rain hit Moltres despite how high he flew, but due to the power of the pokemon Moltres seemed a bit disdained but not apparently hurt from it. Trios the Moltres had eyed the Suicune with a wary eye, flying high in the sky. However, he closed his eyes and soon one single clone formed from his body, making two of them appear as brilliant glowing birds. [ - 5 Energy]. Instantly recognizing the Double Team, Suicune gave a low growl as she unleashed a Swift attack. [ - 8 Energy | - 10 Life ]. The stars hit both of the figures in the sky, giving Trios a sharp pain. Trios gave a slight cry as it looked down at the Suicune and then unleashed an Extrasensory attack. Suicune closed her eyes for a moment, feeling the waves hit her dead on. [ - 10 Energy | - 15 Life ]. She let loose a slight growl as she looked back up into the sky. Trios had lowered itself slightly as it seemed to glow brighter, preparing a firey attack. Seeking the opportunity and trying to gain some leverage, Suicune leapt into the air and unleashed a furry of bubbles from her mouth. [ - 10 Energy | - 17 Life ]. The blast of bubbles hit like a forceful beam at the Moltres dead on before he could unleash his own attack. The bubbles caused his fire to lessen, but being stubborn Trios unleashed a firey attack straight at Roka as she landed back upon the ground. Fire soon engulfed her naturally cold body, heating up the area around her in an intense furry of flames. [ - 8 Energy ]. The flames surrounded her intensely, causing her to close her eyes as she tried to focus on keeping her cool [ - 3 Life ]. The flames continued to spiral about her however, roaring with more power as the Suicune held on fast. [ - 3 Life ]. Finally finding her edge, the fire died down as she stood firm, the rain cooling her off as it did the flames.

Rock grunted in displeasure, as several cold droplets of water struck the top of his head. Rick looked up into the endless sky in annoyance, as the rain poured down from seemingly nowhere and everywhere. "Geez...Rain Dance. Why did she have to go to do that for?" he asked no in particular. The Suicune seemed to be enjoying it, though Rick saw no sign of a smile on his face.

"If you please," Trios muttered, a bit testy. Her fiery wings burned bright, unbothere by the water, but Rick knew she still found it annoying. Whenever it rained back home, she insisted on finding shelter right away. "I'd like to finish this before I catch a cold.

"I agree," Rock grumbled, withdrawing into his shell. "Tap me when this water stuff ends. I can't take it."

"Alright, alright," Rick said. He wiped a forearm across his brow, clearing it of moisture. Maybe Pokemon took after their trainer- he didn't like the rain anymore than they did. "Fire off a Will O' Wisp, then try a Flamethrower on the burned area. Finish with Sandstorm- if rainwater's in this abyss, maybe sand is too."

"Sand and water makes mud," Trios noted dryly. "Lovely."

"Thanks for the forecast."

Just out of curiosity, how does one make a sandstorm with so much mud around? >.> Will there be enough sand to blow up? Oh well.

Kimi watched the battle carefully, as did Yasuo, who calmly levitated beside her. The raindrops battered down, drenching her, but she didn’t mind. She loved the rain, despite the sad memories that it brought.

She bit her lip in anger to watch him engulfed in flames, something he hated the most, but luckily, he emerged, almost unhurt, and she could see by the set of his jaw that he was even more determined to win.

“Roka, before that bird can use Will O’ wisp, summon out the waters of that lake there and drench him using your Surf. With luck, it’ll put out his flames for a while…Next, use Water Pulse, we may manage to confuse him, and then finish with another Rain Dance to make the rain even heavier…”

“It will be as you wish,” Roka told her, speaking out loud. He sounded cool and calm, and still energetic.

Flying around, Trios gave a shrilling cry as she swooped down a little bit lower than before and her wings suddenly gained a new sense of life. Rising to a new level, the flames upon her wings seemed to glow brightly as she suddenly released a stream of blistering fire. However, Roka had been concentrating on the lake not too far from him, and the waves had started to move intensely. As the fire roared towards Roka, a huge wave rose upwards and started to rise over his body. Roka leapt into the air and over the wave in a beautiful display of grace as the wave met head-on with the Will-O’Whisp. [ - 10 Energy | - 6 Energy ]. The intense fire of the Will-O’Whisp had been distinguished by the gigantic wave, but the wave’s power had been disrupted by the fire and it’s watery hands were just out of reach of the Moltres. Angered by the failed move, Trios opened her beak further and swiftly unleashed a blast of fire straight at the Suicune. He tried to move out of the way, but the blast had been too fast and swiftly came after the display of water and fire. He took the blast head on, wincing at the intense heat even despite the rain. [ - 11 Energy | - 8 Life ]. Digging his claws into the ground, Suicune gazed upwards at the fire pokemon and once again his eyes seemed to glow as he concentrated. A strange echoing sound suddenly seemed to fill the air, as an unseen wave of sonar seem to emit from his body straight towards the Moltres. [ - 6 Energy ] Unsuspecting, the Moltres blinked for a few times and her eyes glazed over for a second as she obviously became quite confused. Her flight path became a bit wavering, but she swiftly flew low to the ground as she prepared another attack. Beating her wings, she tried to stir up sand from the ground in a huge blistering wave… but unfortunately the sand near the lake was too wet and heavy to be thrown into the air, and there was nothing left but mud. Still, in the confusion of it all… the Moltres had smashed her wings into the ground a little too harshly, damaging herself and causing some mud to fly up into herself. [ - 7 Energy | - 5 Life ]. Giving a shrill of pain, Moltres suddenly found the rain thrashing and pounding down into the ground as Rota unleashed another Rain Dance[ - 5 Energy ].

The rain was really falling now, in the hard raindrops that really hurt when they hit you, but Kimi did not mind. Roka of course, was perfectly comfortable, and she could she that he enjoyed this battle, and the challenge of battling another Legendary.

"Bubblebeam now, Roka, then follow up with Hydro Pump, and finish with another Bubblebeam," she said quietly, knowing that he heard her every word. "If he tries to use Double Team, just use a divided Water Gun to destroy whatever clones." Just exploit your Elemental advantage, she told him silently.

"Trios!" Rick called, his teeth chattering. He had never seen the Moltres' fire so low before, and was beginning to get worried. Trios didn't answer, her eyes focused on her opponent. Was it the confusion that kept her from responding?

Whatever the case, I need to get her flame back up. Her body's losing its heat...but she can still expel flame! It's worth a shot.

"Trios, surround yourself in a Fire Spin to get your head straight and keep those bubbles from touching you!Use your Agility to take to the air before his next attack, then charge back down in a Sky Attack!" Hopefully, spending a little time in that fire spin would give Trios the time she needed to clear her thoughts. Focus on your assets here, and the water won't matter.

Roka narrowed his eyes as he heard his trainer’s commands, ready to do his best in the battle. Feeling revitalized by the rain thrashing about him, Roka opened his mouth and braced himself as he released a furry of bubbles. [ - 10 Energy ]. Trios closed her eyes and tried to summon forth flames, but due to her confusion and the pounding rain about her… the flames were quite slow, and were unable to be summoned in time as the bubbles thrashed into her body. [ - 19 Life ] Eventually however, the flames did rise up and swirl about Moltres, covering his body in a warm circle of fire [ - 8 Energy]. However, the circle of flames was not nearly as warm as normal due to the thrashing rain about him, and Roka prepared to do yet another attack. Inhaling a deep breath, Roka gave a low growl as he expelled a huge blast of water straight at the now recovering Moltres. The force of the hydro pump with the added element of the rain instantly expelled the Moltres from the circle of fire before she could do anything. [ - 12 Energy | - 15 Life ]. However, while the hydro pump normally would have done a huge amount of damage, the flames surrounding Trios relieved some of the blast. Feeling week with the additional pounding of the rain, Trios closed her eyes and soon she flew up high into the sky and began to pick up speed. Though her fire was low, the fire spin had helped a little although the fire was beginning to die down again due to the intense rain. Still… the agility had worked and she was flying a bit faster and her confusion seemed to have been shaken off. [ - 8 Energy]. Roka responded by unleashing yet another furry of bubbles, but the agility of Trios allowed the Moltres to avoid a direct hit. However, a bit of the bubblebeam clipped one of her wings. [ - 10 Energy | - 9 Life ]. Feeling desperate, Trios knew that this was her last chance to perhaps land a full-fledged attack, and adrenaline rushed into her. Narrowing her wings she began to dive downwards, and swiftly she managed to land a large blow into Roka. [ - 10 Energy | - 15 Life ].


[ BTW, Sky Attack is usually a 2 turn move. I am allowing it to be a one turn move in this but Hyper gets to attack first again because of it. ]

Feeling thoroughly waterlogged and frustrated, Rick went over his options.Trios is doing pretty badly...but all those attacks must be tiring out Suicune too, even if he is a legendary. If we can just hang on... Clearing his eyes from the rain, Rick called "Trios!"

The bird didn't reply. Her exhaustion was catching up to her, and he didn't know how much longer she would last. Nonetheless, he knew she could hear him. One more round was all he could ask for.

"Trios, relax to try and gather your strength. Then, fire off a barrage of Extrasensory!" The Moltres nodded, shaking her cooling body irritably, trying to rid herself of rain.

She could see that her beloved companion was tiring, but so was the opponent. She wanted to end it here and now...."Roka, Hydropump the Moltres, then Relax, and then Bubblebeam again if the Moltres relaxes in the second turn, but if she only relaxes for one turn, then use Bubblebeam in the second turn, and relax in the third turn, but only if you have enough energy. If your energy is too low, just follow the first plan."

Roka nodded, his head drooping slightly. Yasuo seemed a little worried, but he remained silent.

With their new plans for attack, Roka’s eyes narrowed as he withdrew a breath and then suddenly fired out a massive spray of powerfully pressured water. [- 12 Energy] The water traveled into the air, not having any great wall of fire to hindrance it this time. The water nailed Trios dead on, causing the bird pokemon to give out a painful cry as the water seemed to douse her almost completely. [ - 20 Life ] Feeling faint and almost gone completely, Trios landed upon the ground and closed her eyes, trying her best to relax and gain back energy. [ + 10 Energy, + 5 Life ] Roka closed her eyes as well, breathing with a heavy pant as he slowly began to regain some of his energy as well. [ + 13 Energy, + 7 Life ] Trios’s eyes then jolted open as she took flight again… the fire upon her wings barely flickering but she swiftly lowered her beak and gave a cry, unleashing an Extrasensory attack. [ - 10 Energy ] Roka braced himself as he felt the waves hit him, giving a slight growl of dislike. [ - 15 Life ] However, gaining enough energy back, Roka opened his gaping jaws and unleashed a powerful stream of bubbles straight at the weakened Moltres. [ - 10 Energy ] The bubbles caused Moltres to give out a cry as she felt herself weakened to the point where she could no longer battle, and thus she slowly fell to the ground in a large drop. [ Fainted ] Roka stood there, watching but breathing heavily.

Trios hit the ground heavily, completely exhausted. Rick wasn't too worried- being a Phoenix, Trios' wounds would heal over time, and even faster when her body temperature leveled out...but he was worried about his chances. With one Pokemon left....could he win this match? Or would he be stuck in this darkness forever?

"Quit worrying," Rock muttered, stepping forward. "The bird had her chance- now trust in me."

That was really all he could do, wasn't it? Rick smiled at the Golem, whom he knew must feel uncomfortable in the rain. Two Legendaries stood in front of him, and yet Rock didn't show the slightest hint of uncertainty. Arrogance wasn't in his nature either...only steadfast loyalty.

"You're right, buddy," Rick said slowly, looking at Trios. "Okay then. Go for it Rock. Show them what you've got."

Kimi smiled slightly, very proud of her beloved Roka.

"You have done well," she told him, and Yasuo nodded his agreement. Finally, Roka turned to face her, his eyes meeting hers, and there was a wild joy in it, having fought and won a battle. The other trainer, whose name she still did not know, still had another Pokemon - A Golem. She bit her lip. By right, Roka had the type advantage, but he was tiring.

"Roka, do you want Yasuo to take your place?"

No. The reply was short, and she could see his sides heaving as he panted for breath, but he still wanted to fight, and so she respected that.

"Dear one, I don't want you to overtire yourself, so use Bubblebeam first, and then relax for two turns. However, if you have sufficient energy in the third turn to use Water Pulse without injuring yourself, do so."

It would be as you say, Roka replied, bracing himself for what would probably a difficult round.

Rock grunted, looking up at the sky. "I wonder how long this blasted rain lasts...it's beginning to annoy me."

"Maybe forever, if we don't get out of here," Rick muttered under his breath. He studied the Suicune with a calculating eye. He seemed to have plenty of life left, but his quick exhales seemed to hint at heavy fatigue. If only they could play off of that...

"I got it!" Rick cried, struck with inspiration. That Suicune has a lot of guts to try and take down both Trios and Rock... Aloud, he said, "Rock, he's going to attack first, so Swagger! Make a face, and make sure to insult his strength. Get him so angry that he just charges you- after all, you're not even a Legendary. If it works, Counter his attack and push him back. If it doesn't, use two Earthquakes to shake him up and throw off his aim.
