Look, I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't need help because I seriously do =P...

Thing is I got into quite a heated argument over at Gamefaqs (exact topic: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gen...8485302&page=0) about how the type and strength (or power if you will) of Hidden Power is determined. As far as I know Hidden Power relies on the IVs and EVs, correct? If I'm wrong could somebody please point it out, because I've always thought this way and I would like to be certain on whether I am correct or not...

I'm also not sure if this is in the right area, but really, I'm an idiot anyway so, yeah....

It does not rely on EVs, only on IVs. A pokémon's IVs are set in stone; if you don't like your Starmie's IVs, catch another Starmie. EVs gradually increase as you train the pokémon.
Because Hidden Power depends solely on IVs, a given pokémon's type and power of Hidden Power will never change, not even if you evolve it; but they can be very different for a different member of the same species.

Thanks, I know I had it a bit mixed up but the blabber I'm getting from this guy was nothing short of something I'd expect from a 2 year old. *Sigh* Well at least I'm certain now :-]

    Thanks for the help Poryhedron.

No prob, and sorry to say that sort of idiocy seems to be somewhat common on GameFAQs boards, from what I've heard. I love the site's content, but the boards...
