What's up with Skarmory?

I'm trying to get a Skarmory with Drill Peck so I've got to breed it. I'm using a female Skarmory, but whatever I pair it with, it won't breed. I've tried with Xatu, Dodrio, Doduo and Fearow, all of them males, of course. It says "Skarmory is interested in Dodrio" and viceversa, but I still get no eggs.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just that it takes more time than normal to breed this particular species?

If it says they're interested in each other, they will breed.
Eventually.
You'll just have to be more patient, and remember: it's not the time that passes, it's the steps you've taken. So do an awful lot of walking around.

Hop on your bike and ride around on routes where you can avoid tall grass, and hence, Pokemon battles. Or better yet, grab another Pokemon and go level it up somewhere the Pokemon are higher leveled than it, so you gain a lot of levels quick. That'll amuse you and pass the time while your Skarmory gets her groove on.

Try taking the Magnet Train to Kanto and biking around Kanto for a while. That does the trick for my pokemon.

[i]you know, i once left two pokés to breed, and totally forgot about them lol. when i came back and had an egg, i was like "oh yea...". my best advice, leave the pokés alone for a while, them just go out and play your game for a while. if you can, mark a date on your calendar to remind yourself to go back and see how the lovely couple is doing.
