Default Rant about Route 102 and Seedot in Emerald

Okay. I started over my Emerald game and I thought, "Whee! I'm gonna catch every pokemon I can and try to get a complete dex in this version!" So, I'm doing fine, then I reach Route 102. "Ha, this'll be easy. It's such an early route that I'll get them all no prob." I caught a Lotad, Poochyena, Zigzagoon, and Wurmple. But I just couldn't find a Ralts. I looked it up on Psypoke and found out that there is a 4% chance of seeing a Ralts. But then, I noticed one more pokemon: Seedot. In Emerald, there is a 1% chance of seeing a Seedot. I think, "A Shiftry will be so helpful with Tate and Liza." I got stuck on Tate and Liza in every version, so of course I want one. I look around, and I finally see a Ralts and catch it. I keep looking and I see five more Ralts? WTF? No Seedot. I take a break in the next route. I catch a Taillow, Wingull, and a Marill. "A Marill? That HAS to be rare here..." I go back to Route 102, and I look some more. At about 2 AM. I really wanted that Seedot. I still can't find it...

Anyway... Is there an easier way to get a Seedot that doesn't involve trading?

[color=magenta]Well, there are a couple of ways that you can go. You can catch an extra Ralts and trade it with a boy in Rustboro City for a Seedot, you can wait until you get to Fallarbor Town/Meteor Falls and look for the slightly more common Nuzleaf in the grass between Fallarbor and Meteor Falls and then break it for a Seedot, or else you can wait for TV to announce an outbreak of Seedot after you defeat the Elite 4.

Seedot is much rarer in Emerald than it was in Ruby. You can find one now, it just may require a ton of patience. You can find a Seedot relatively soon, or you could literally go hours and not find one.

#1 pretty much covered your options. I wouldn't recommend trying to find one right this second, go for one of the easier paths he mentioned.

If your worried about Tate and Liza, you won't be battling them for quite a while, so there's really no rush.

Okay, I think I'll trade a Ralts for one Thanks! Elec, I'm trying to think very far in advance because on all of my other games it took my FOREVER to beat them, and I realized getting a decent dark pokemon other than Mightyena might be a great idea

Just get Shuppet and keep training it until it evolves into Banette and learns Shadow Ball. There's your trick to beating Tate and Liza. And every so often, there are Seedot outbreaks, and they come with TM moves (Giga Drain, Frustration, etc.) already learned.

I wouldn't give up on catching Seedot on that route early in the game. It's super-rare, yes, but not impossible to find. I actually got one BEFORE I saw a Ralts.

.....And I'm probably not the only one who only catches female Ralts around here, right?

I've seen 8 Ralts. Heck, I thought I'd see a shiny before a Seedot. (BTW, I did give up since I can just trade a Ralts for one in Rustboro)

TK, thanks for the tip about Banette!

I don't mind male Ralts because if I work at it, I can envision Gardevoir as a bishounen (Kirlia's a hopeless case, though...I'm kinda curious as to what this family will look like in Diamond/Pearl where male and female pokémon have minute differences in sprite.) I have a friend who only wants females, though. He asked me to trade one to him and I had to make sure it was female or he wouldn't take it.
