Default Gym Battle: Silencer vs Chris 2.0 REF NEEDED

I'm insane but I'm doing it. Only have 3 *coughactuallyjustonecough* going on so I'll give it a shot. Always been intrested in how a gym would be.

I await your response and the rules.

    Wow, snapped up straight away.

    Arena: Goldenrod City
A large, spacious city, Goldenrod has lost the majority of its population due to the arrival of the Hoenn reigon. There are many places to explore; the department store, which has medicine (restoring 5%) and various status ailments (although these can only be used once by each battler). The rooftop of the Department Store is also handy for aerial battles.

Aside from that, there is an aquarium with many various sized pools, as well as wide spaces for non-water types; The monorail tracks are high up from the battle and are long and thin; perfect for an all-out-duel, although electric attacks may attract the Magnet Train, which will slam into the battlers and deal 10% damage to each.

These places are acessed by simply ordering the command "go to ___", flying, teleporting or, in some cases, digging.

You select first, I attack first. We start this Gym Battle in The Goldenrod Aquarium. The large, water tank is set deep into the ground; the glass is durable but not indestructable. Belowground, it looks like this, but the tank is much larger than these.

That means, therefore that, should the glass break, and the battlers and underwater, the battle will take place in the darkened corridor beneath.

    Interresting

Looking over your team I believe my best bet would be Choji, my male Tauros.

Now is he located in the dark room of the picture or is this at the room above where there are just the openings for the aquariums?

    Edit: editted wrong post

Actually we are belowground, pretty much like the picture. There is a staircase leading up to the top of the various tanks but I decided the above arena would be a bit fiddly. The lights from the tanks provide ample (albeit spooky) light for our battle.

I'm choosing a good old favourite here. Jesse ([M] Lickitung) let's go! Let's start by spraying it with a water pulse. Then, use thunderbolt and end with ice beam.

First enclose it in a rock tomb. Then, since it will have nowhere to run to and I doubt water pulse and thunderbolt will manage to break through we'll restore some energy for our next attack, namely fissure.
But I can imagine that a rock tomb might not work in this place so if it doesn't set up a substitute(10%) and strike back with a double flamethrower

    Rock tomb~relax~Fissure
    OR
    Sub(10%)~flamethrower x2

Edit: changed the title and was wondering howmany pokémon apiece? And if there were moves banned?

Oh dear god, have mercy on my soul.

I'm fine with you reffing. If you aren't approved in the reffing tower you just don't get the bonusses (free catch/evo), but I think it's still allowed. Chris can probably tell you more.

Hey everyone, welcome back to my wonderful world of Reffing! I don’t get as nasty in reffings, mainly because I sometimes win battles! When things aren’t going my way I generally forfeit too. Lol.

BUT! I don’t do fancy colours, fonts, avatars or life meters. Because I like to think I have a life out of TPM, or I’m just kind of lazy. A bit of A a bit of B… And my energy System, it’s a grading system! You start off with an A+! Then it kind of drops to F where you FAIL and DIE!

But, welcome to Chris’ 2nd Gym Battle! After successfully defeating Charles Legend and his team of Dragonite, Hoppip and Sceptile, the council workers have siphoned off enough of the residents hard earned money in order to repair the town. Chris being the Gym Leader in residence has overseen these many repairs and those 18 people who died in the battle (Mainly due to the earthquakes and falling into holes, or having stuff fall on them) never existed. Family members who claim otherwise have been paid off or eliminated.

Chris 2.0 or Shiny Marril steps into the main square of the newly refurbished town and squints in the unfamiliar sunlight. Meanwhile the absolutely unfamiliar Silencer hops off of the train and walks into town, trying to find the Gym Leader in order to challenge him. Silencer looks all over, the hotel room, at the hotel bar, at the hotel pool… at the hotel bar again. Finally, hearing some drunk rantings from the penthouse, Chris marches down and sets the terms of their battle so he can get a good night’s sleep

The next morning, our two Battlers enter the arena and they’re looking ready to go. We’re at the Goldenrod Aquarium and most of the remaining residents of Goldenrod have run off for the day, not happy to risk their lives from the oncoming battle. One old man sits on his porch, shotgun in hand and grumbles, “Back in my day, Gym battles happened in GYMS! Now! Look at it! All over town! Doreen! Cup of tea! Two sugars!”

    Team Silencer
    Tauros – M – Choji[/i]
    Health – 100%
    Energy – A+
Status – As ready as he’ll ever be

Arena: We’re at the aquarium and it’s fine for the time being.
Chris 2.0 Stares down his opponent, Pokeball in Hand. Silencer is a tad nervous and hopes he’ll do better than the last person to challenge the gym. The floor is a lovely marble, there are a few leather couches around in the aquarium. It’s underground and there’s some re-inforced glass which peers into the soothing blue depths of this man-made environment.

In the tank, a Mantine looks kind of embarrassed as his not very high popularity has taken another hit of late. Other ocean faring aquatic Pokemon drift around, Staryu, Croconaw and Horsea amongst others. It’s wonderfully tranquil. Except for the learning material around, you like have to have in these educational facilities. There’s a set of stairs on the side of the arena leading up to topside and the outdoors.

With a call from the Ref, our Challenger releases his Pokemon, a Tauros! Male and raring to go, his three tails cracking like whips. In retaliation, Chris brings out his Male Lickitung, who is somewhat more placid, but still ready to go! Our battlers call out their attacks which echo a tad and the Pokemon leap into action.

Our speedy cow looks around the arena, it’s not very rocky at all, and decides to opt towards his alternate orders. Concentrating on an odd energy within his body, Tauros feels life sucked out of him and a stand-in cattle seems to draw out of mid-air and stand in front of him. But as creating a substitute ISN’T a mathematical science and bulls generally aren’t scientifically inclined, so he can’t control the amount of life that goes into it. (Substitute 18% Health)

Meanwhile our tubby but oddly endearing pink warrior concentrates on her hydrogen sac, and inhales, adding oxygen and feeling the pressure rising in her gut, releases a short but dense blast of water. Apparently this water contains supersonic waves, but… I find that hard to believe and personally believe it has a light dose of a hallucinogen which MAY confuse. On the upside, our bovine pal is all okay whilst his Substitute takes the damage and absorbs the water, like any plush toy should (7 Damage to the Sub).

Our bovine pal next has his three silvery element sockets on his head charge as he focuses on his firey power, breathing out an intense heat that ignites from his mouth and strikes our Pink friend from a 45% angle (8 Damage to Lickitung). Jesse is a tad confused as to how that attack got her there seeing as the cow is in front of her, but grunts in a little pain as she shuffles her body together, generating an electrical charge between her hands and seemingly throwing it at the cow. Seeing as it’s a bit wet it takes some additional damage (9 Damage to the Substitute. An astounding 1 point more!)

For our final action, Lickitung now focuses on her icy prowess, contracts her tongue as not to let it take damage from her own ice power and at the back of her throat, a ball of ice energy forms and fires out a frosty beam from her throat onto the Substitute, which promptly breaks and fades from existence. Jesse scowls, getting fooled isn’t high on her list of things to do, watching Oprah and Doctor Phil is. But he doesn’t get much of a chance to get angry as another blast of flame takes him at the same side as before, giving him a slight burn on his gut. (8 Damage to Lickitung)

Not a great round for our Gym Leader first off 

Well then, onto the second round!

    Team Chris 2.0
    Lickitung – M – Jesse

    Health – 84%
    Energy – A
Status – A slight burn on her left side of her stomach. (1 Damage per round)

    Team Silencer
    Tauros – M – Choji[/i]
    Health – 82%
    Energy – A-
    Status – Rather stoic

Arena: We’re at the aquarium and it’s fine for the time being.

Well then! A few Pokemon are staring at the battle from the Tank, it’s a fair bit of excitement as to what they usually see: School kids and people tapping on glass. Chris 2.0 isn’t particularly happy this battle hasn’t gone his way so far, and Silencer is thanking Jeebus for Berrocca for curing his hangover asap… well, that and the bacon and eggs, coffee, masseur and the power of Prayer.

Our rather happy cow hasn’t taken a hit, but as he rears up on his hind legs, tails whipping to help generate electrical spark, his beady things pulse with energy. Lickitung however is going as quick as she can to slam the cow with her powerful fist. Tauros however fires off his thunderbolt first, striking Jesse. (8 Damage to Lickitung) Lickitung takes the hit in her stride and soon slams her hand into the cow’s head, making a sickening crack on contact. (11 Damage to our Cow)

Tauros staggers back and begins to rear back and gallop in fury. Lickitung however activates her hydrogen sac. The cow jumps into the air, 100% prime beef! Great with hollandaise sauce… however, Lickitung tries to blast it away as it comes down on her, it keeps the cow in the air for an additional second as he takes the watery blast on his underside. (8 Damage to the cow) But Tauros, being a rather large Pokemon, manages to come back down to earth, slamming into Lickitung with quite some force due to it’s size. (10 Damage to Lickitung)

Lickitung gets out from underneath that grain fed rump steak and begins to charge up some electricity. Meanwhile, it seems the hallucinations due to Water Pulse have taken a hold of Tauros as he images he’s getting his chance at Rodeo Idol, bucking around rather wildly if anything. Lickitung finally gets her opening and releases her thunderbolt, knocking Tauros off of his Idol Journey. (9 Damage to Tauros due to being wet) Giving an angry call, Tauros finds he has some rather mild paralysis and difficulty moving.

    Team Chris 2.0
    Lickitung – M – Jesse

    Health – 65%
    Energy – B
Status – A slight burn on her left side of her stomach. (1 Damage per round).
    Rather happy considering.

    Health – 54%
    Energy – B
Status – Somewhat paralyzed. 20% Chance that attacks requiring physically moving will fail. Will reduce over time, or increase depending on electrical influence, internal or external.

Refresh yourself to clear the paralysis. Then take it to the streets. If she follows use flamethrower. If she doesn't use an ice beam on the steps or on the floor of the exit to make it harder to come up next turn(I'm guessing we take a stairs up or something since most off these aquariums are below grounds).

    Thirdy turdy round!

    Lickitung – M – Jesse

    Health – 65%
    Energy – B
Status – A slight burn on her left side of her stomach. (1 Damage per round).

Status – Somewhat paralyzed. 20% Chance that attacks requiring physically moving will fail. Will reduce over time, or increase depending on electrical influence, internal or external.

Arena: We’re at the aquarium and it’s fine for the time being. [/center]

Our battlers are doing quite well, although the reliance on elemental moves is draining a bit. Firstly Tauros gives a bit of a moo, remembering the time he trampled that busload of small children after one of them sneezed unexpectedly. Good times. Silencer picked him for that very reason. But as he does, he releases a powerful enzyme through his body, freeing up his body from paralysis.

Meanwhile, Lickitung hits Tauros head-on with a water pulse(8 Damage to the cow), and it fails to confuse. Lickitung feels a tad upset when it learns of it’s new evolution. Fat, ugly and with bad hair… He’s hoping it will come later rather than sooner. Tauros however has taken this short time of reflection to run like the wind!

Up the stairs (Interesting note, cattle can’t walk DOWN stairs) he runs! Run cow! Run! Lickitung however gives a slightly confused look as Tauros looks down the stairs and fires off an Ice Beam, glazing them over . Lickitung manages to give a shockwave as the cow bolts out to the fresh air (9 Damage to cow)…

But Tauros seems a bit lost trying to get out, “The Fairy Penguin then left, the stingrays then right and avoid the kiddy pond” He thinks as he tries to escape…. To no avail. Maybe if he tries real hard for one more turn, he’ll get out. Meanwhile, Jesse sits on the couch and stares at the fishies!

    Shouldn't Choji have 37HP? 54-17 is 37 according to my calculator :p

Let's get back to the stairs, while swaggering so he won't move around to much (and I mean to, not down). This place should echo well enough. If he comes up the icy stairways shoot a zap cannon down them. Else relax. If he tries to shock wave to get you, use a shock wave of your own.

    Reffing up tommorrow.

Sorry, I forgot to put in some reasoning as to why Tauros is lost. He came into the aquarium via Pokeball, didn't walk in, so he's a tad lost. Imagine kind of throwing yourself in the middle of a confusing shopping center you've never been to before.

    Quick reffing. Sorry.

Jessie seems to be enjoying herself, learning all about the habitats of aquatic Pokemon and their breeding cycles. However, it all becomes a bit too close for comfort when two Poliwhirl start going at it on the glass. He wanders over to the bottom of the icy stairs and wonders "Why Supersonic if no-one's here?" Wasting precious time perhaps better spent boosting stats. That's just my opinion.

The cow however, is making his way back, a bit bemused as to why he spent so much time and effort on an escape plan ONLY to have to go back! He grunts angrily at Silencer who's running with his Pokemons and stops to look at the ADORABLE fairy penguins.

With a turn wasted by both, we have a tired cow arrive at the top of the stairs and fire off a Zap Cannon whilst Lickitung fires off a Water Pulse, both hitting their targets. (9 Damage to the Cow) (13 Damage and Paralysis to Lickitung). Finally, after like using Water pulse UMPTEEN TIMES (Which is super boring) Tauros becomes confused, and thinks that he's trying to be led into the slaughterhouse. Bucking wildly, he is hit by Lickitung's Thunderbolt (Which thankfully didn't need movement) and tumbles down the icy stairs. (4 Damage from the tumble. 11 from the TBolt)

Lickitung grimaces as he's kind of Pailed this round (Passed, but, failed in a way). Meanwhile, after getting a good knock, Tauros is slightly frying after the TBolt and smells finger licking good.

Paralysed - 35% chance of freezing up if physical movement is needed. Further usage of electric attacks or electrical damage receieved increases this percentage. Time or a turn spent trying to massage muscles (If possible) will reduce this.

Note: No doors in the aquarium, or at least between Tauros and Lickitung. Supersonic waves travel. There is noone else around so said waves would henceforth be heard around the place, various rooms etc. It was also to drown out the swaggering taunts. That was the plan. But anyway...

Earthquake after the double team, then hit it with toxic after the refresh for future use and we'll finish with Fire Blast, let's hope for the best.

    Earthquake~Toxic~Fire Blast

Btw Chris am I allowed to use Choji outside this battle? I pmed you with that question (it relates to the fight Ace is having with Elec man)

Oh, the way i see your aquarium is like sea world here. Its not one building but theme park-esque with exibits around but your specific area atm an under tank area leading outdoors so that your ssonic would have dispersed.

Thats good to know. Remember though the attached picture in my first post is how it looks. I like your description. I also think there are directions leading to the exit.

    Thanks

There's a picture? But if you've been to sea world its a hard time getting out. Plus there are no signs telling you how to get out.

    Team Chris 2.0
    Lickitung – M – Jesse
    Health – 50%
    Energy – B-
Status – A slight burn on her left side of her stomach. (1 Damage per round).
Paralysed - 35% chance of freezing up if physical movement is needed. Further usage of electric attacks or electrical damage receieved increases this percentage. Time or a turn spent trying to massage muscles (If possible) will reduce this.

    Team Silencer
    Tauros – M – Choji
    Health – 13%
    Energy – C-
Status – Angry and bruised after the fall.

Well, isn't this battle going dandily quick!? As I have interpreted the aquarium, it's larger... brighter and has a better colour scheme and leather couches... but I've just noticed Chris's Picture. Lols. So... for the remainder fo the battle, we're sticking with my one! Goddamnit!

Our delightful Cow Friend really hasn't had a good battle this turn, getting trumped rather easily and after that botched escape crap, he's quite far behind. In comparison, Lickitung is rather happy and ready to go. Our trainers give their commands and pick up some informative educational brochures!

(BTW! New Ikea opens in like a week here! I AM SO EXCITED!)

Meanwhile, Lickitung feels a bit sore from her burn and feels a numbness from the paralysis but nonetheless concentrates as four clones shimmer into existance. Tauros however gives a happy roar and starts to stomp wildly. I run for my life, as some of the GoldenRod Residents cling to stuff for their life.

Tauros' equake instantly destroys the clones as Lickitung hits the ground and gets thumped around. (10 Damage) But one of the most horrible things is that the walls in the aquarium begin to crack. They're designed to resist a mild equake, but they're all fracturing as some water begins to leak into the underground area. One more disturbance in the earth will deal some horrible damage to everyone. Some tiles begin to crack and fall from the ceiling and quite frankly, I want those nice leather couches for my house before they're destroyed.

Lickitung however is now up to it's ankles in water as it concentrates on releasing a soothing substance into it's bloodstream, cooling the burn and freeing up the lactate paralysis. Tauros however spews out a glob of noxious crap which hits Lickitung's chest and poisons him. BUT as I see it, the shit in the bloodstream reduces the severity of the toxicity since it's still in there.

Lickitung's adoreably beady little eyes starts to glimmer and he charges electrical Energy. Firing off it's thunderbolt, it hits Tauros (11 Damage due to it's continued water pulse soaking) and Lickitung gets a jolt back through the water (6 Damage). Tauros however, fires off a hot stream of fire that hits Lickitung's chest and becomes an incredibly rude japanese symbol. FOR SHAME. (11 Damage)

Arena - 1 More Earth Disturbance AND ALL HELL WILL BREAK LOOSE. Glass cracked. Water leaking.

    Team Chris 2.0
    Lickitung – M – Jesse
    Health – 20%
    Energy – C-
Status – Poisoned. 3% Damage per round.

    Team Silencer
    Tauros – M – Choji
    Health – 2%
    Energy – D-
    Status – Tired and angry.

We suffered like hell. Lickitung, Tauros is going down. Use a 5% substitute then use swift until it goes down.

This is going to be scary. Round... something

    Team Chris 2.0
    Lickitung – M – Jesse
    Health – 20%
    Energy – C-
Status – Poisoned. 3% Damage per round.

    Team Silencer
    Tauros – M – Choji
    Health – 2%
    Energy – D-
    Status – Tired and angry.

Before the round begins I quickly have those hot brown leather couches removed and placed in my care. Hoorah for me. Meanwhile, Tauros' laboured breathing is really gross, specks of spit are going in the water around us. There's chalky residue from the fractured concrete and some tiny slithers of glass as well.

Our trainers give their orders and run for their lives. Bastards.

Tauros gives a large "Moo" as cows do. (BTW did you know ducks go Quack!) And Lickitung concentrates on making a small substitute. But as I have mentioned previously, creating a substitute isn't a science and kind of luck. So with a shimmer a fakeo Lickitung appears (12 health) on the scene just as Tauros' hooves hit the ground.

This is where it gets scary. Glass cracks, falls. Water and large pieces of glass fly at our battlers like a terrifying wall. Lickitung holds up it's substitute as a human shield whilst Tauros closes his eyes and tries to endure it. Along with a wave of glass and water, a bevvy of Water Pokemon hit him in the head before finally a Quilfish embeds itself in it's eye.

Screaming in pain, a bloody patch on the side of it's face and covered in bloody slashes from the glass, Tauros faints. That wasn't very prestige. He slumps down into the water as Silencer recalls him to his Pokeball and considers who to choose next.

Lickitung's substitute however pretty much instantly broke and shimmered out of existance. Taking a small amount of damage, our Pink Friend is up to it's head in water and starts treading water to stay afloat. Glass floating around, some scared water Pokemon in the water, Lickitung is struggling to stay afloat, only aided by the fact he knows some aquatic moves and is a great big ball of awesome fat.

The water rises and rises as the air pocket gets smaller. Lickitung notices the water rising up to the light fixtures and screams as the water hits the electrical points, frying him quite badly. Thankfully he's the last to feel it's brunt as the safety switch automatically turns itself off after a jolt. Water has flooded from the outside tanks inside the aquarium, it has glass shards, Pokemon in it, chunks of concrete and wires. It's rather dark too....

Chris also recalls his Pokemon and we're onto the next round.

    Silencer chooses first, Chris Second.

Chris attacks first and Silencer second.

We can also continue this battle in the now decimated Aquarium or move to the outdoor area of the aquarium.

A 5% substitute used up 12% HP? Explain.

Also, I'm not particularly satisfied with the way that round played out. I understand you're taking the arena into your own hands, but the entire place flooding and Lickitung being electrocuted and losing up to 15% health seemed rather flimsy.

If the arena is flooded wouldn't the match (being official) be taken to a safer place before the water level was allowed to rise so dangerously?

Anyway, awaiting Silencer. I suggest we move to a different part of the city.

Ah, ok. Thought the leader would have the decision here.

I'll release my pokémon on the streets and it will be... Toph, my female Sandslash (with green spikes)

I said earlier that creating a sub isn't exact, choosing how much 'life' isn't an easy task and somewhat random. But lickitung had 8 health left before getting electroed and was also poisoned so he didn't have a lot of health to play with.

A follow up post to appease angry angry Brittish Chris.

Point 1 - Creating a substitute isn't an easy task you can go "Put 8.56245625% of your health into it!" I'd like to see you try and measure out your "Life energy" to create an inanimate object. I randomised it and you got a 12% Substitute. Then, the Equake dealt 10 damage to it. The cascade of water and glass finished it off. Lickitung was left with 8 health at that point. The water rushed in INCREDIBLY quickly and rose up to the powerpoint dealing a good deal of damage to Lickitung (The electrocution would have had to be under 4 damage for it to survive along with it's poisoning to the next round with 1 health)

IF however I was going to say you had a 5% sub The sub would've been destroyed by the Equake. Then the water and poisoning would've taken it out quicker than waiting an extra 15-20 seconds for electrocution. Either way, Lickitung didn't have an exit strategy and was going to faint.

And Re the Arena, I have no quams continuing in a decimated Aquarium. *Shrugs*
