<QUESTION> am i aloud to start a tourneyment?
We have had many new people join TPM recently, and This would be a fun way for them to get into a battle. It would be fun to have an orginized tourney If i wanted to start a tourney would i have to get permission or would i just not be able to. If i am able to it would be orginized, this is what i have come up with so far.
I'm thinking about starting a tiered tournament for anyone interested.
I can't promise any prizes yet, but it would be interesting to see happen, and some organized competition couldn't hurt..
Anyways, it's a good way for both players and refs to stack up massive points, and we'll have a better idea of various individual talents and leanings.
EDIT A - Preliminary Proposal
With 6 or less participants a Round Robin would be most effective for the hopeful result. But for this to work there would have to be a time limit on matches. I'd propose 5 rounds, though one week real time might work better. Even though you would only have 3-4 rounds I'd have to suggest a larger then normal damage cap of around 40% per round.
This way everyone could battle everyone, and get credit for various wins and losses fairly.
Ties would be decided by single elimination.
With more then 6 we're shifting to a pure single elimination. Everyone gets at least 2 matches out of it.
The location (would be easier if we had a locale to work out of ^^): Is going to be in, on, and around a pokemon university, and more specific battle locations will be assigned per match up. As this would be an underground/unofficial tournament not all the locations will be proper battle fields, and permanent damage could attract problematic elements and will not be repaired magically between fights.
So if you do get the Olympic sized swimming pool, and you do start throwing around fissures and you end up damaging the pool, that damage will not clean itself up after the fact, and the police will probably start asking questions. Yes, there are a number of plain battle fields, but you may also end up fighting in alleyways, bomb shelters, and theater stages.
Pokemon: Only pokemon at their lowest eveloution
Weather is to be decided by a day/time decision randomly at my whim. I'm going to try to get as much information to you as possible, so that if you're fighting under Sunny Day status, you'll know when and where you're going to be before you even have to select pokemon. Some days will be rainy, though this will usually not affect those of you indoors.
Banned moves: As OHKOs are only massive damage and excessively low accuracy, they won't be banned. The use of healing moves is not banned but discouraged.
Time restricted battles with no clear victor will be decided by voting between 3 different third party Judges based on style, damage dealt, and imagination. This means that you can be clearly winning by type advantage, and still lose because your opponent was more interesting to the observers. This does make it more of a contest then a battle, but the point really is to entertain, not just crush your way to victory.
