Dark Sage versus Chris 2.0 (Ref: Bulbasaur4)

Since Chris has taken an interest in my new fanfic, I've decided to see if I can match up to him in terms of actual battling. On an ASB scale, of course.

Rules:

Pokemon: Four, one out at a time.

DQ Time: One week

Banned moves: Attract, Substitute, any direct status inflictors (Body Slam is okay, Thunder Wave and Toxic are banned) and any direct healers (Giga Drain is okay, Recover and Rest are banned).

Other rules: We PM our first Pokemon to the ref, so there is no intentional type-trumping. He decides at random who attacks first.

Arena: Tell you what... I'll let you decide on this factor, if you accept my challenge.

So how about it? If you accept, we need a ref...

Sure DS - Its been a while since we battled. I like big matches so this should be fun. I also think you selected a good number of banned moves.

The Arena: We battle in an open, round colloseum comprised of rock. It is the middle of the day. There is a fine sand covering the ground.

Okay, great. We'll PM you our first Pokemon.

Okay… so here will be the battle set up thus far.

Pokemon: 4 vs 4, 1 at a time.
DQ Time: 1 Week
Banned Moves: Attract, Substitute, direct status inflictors, and direct heals.
Arena: A large, open and round collesium made of rock and a fine sand covers the ground. Battle takes place during the middle of the day, where the sun’s rays hit the ground the hardest.


Chris 2.0 is sending out his Cacturne (M), Harley while as Dark Sage is sending out a Gible (F), named Tiamat. With my wonderful randomizing ref generator, I am pleased to announce that Tiamat will be attacking first followed by Harley for the 1st round.

Tiamat, first, burn that cactus with a Flamethrower.

Then, use Dragon Rage.

Then, close in, and use Slash!

Use a double team to start off with. Then hurl a sand attack into Gible's eyes and end with a leech seed onto the Pokemon's back.

The afternoon sun beats down upon the rocky collesium ground as two trainers prepare to face each other down in a four vs four battle! Chris 2.0 has selected a handsome and strong looking Cacturne, while his opponent has sent out a determined and confident Gible. The two pokemon are prepared to attack as they stand on top of the ground, a few wind gusts of sand occasionally blowing the particles into the air. Who shall be victorious in this battle? It’s time to find out!

With the orders called out, immediately Gible inhaled a deep breath and faced Cacturne, immediately spewing out a roaring flamethrower. Cacturne immediately leapt into action and tried leaping out of the way, but he found that the blast was quite powerful and it managed to hungrily hit his luminously green skin. Shaking off the pain of the attack, Cacturne immediately focused as his body seemed to suddenly sprout four more of himself and surround the little Gible. Confused slightly, Gible panicked and looked worriedly about at his seemingly numerous foes.

Gible looked about in panic, unable to decide which clone to attack… but in a rush, he went for the clone to his right. Opening his mouth, soon a blast of pinkish flame poured from his mouth and began to furiously wrap around the Cacturne like a vicious tornado. But to Gible’s dismay, the image of Harley merely disappeared. Seizing the opportunity, Harley kicked a large amount of sand straight at Gible, causing the pokemon to cry out as sand painfully hit his eyes. All of Harley’s clones disappeared, but the damage was done as Gible tried to use his forepaws the rub the sand out of his eyes but his eyesight was already damaged.

Aggravated by the stinging sand in his eyes, Tiamat blinked and through his watery vision made out the blurry form of Harley the Cacturne. Growling furiously he charged at Tiamat, powering up his claws as he leapt and prepared to slash the Cacturne with all of his might. Seeing this as an opportunity, Cacturne quickly launched a seed at Gible- planting it firmly upon his body so that vines tangled about him. Gible fell short of his slash, managing to only lightly cut Cacturne as he twisted away.

Good work Harley. Use another double team, then unleash a cotton spore onto Gible. End with focus blast. Use faint attack to evade fire attacks before striking.

Ps: Nice work reffing B4 I like the little menu sprites of the Pokemon. Makes tracking damage and energy so much easier!

Tiamat, first use Slash to rip your way out of those vines.

Then, use Earthquake. Let's see if his Double Team can let him avoid THAT.

Then, rush at him with a Dragon Rush.

Seeing his opponent safely tanged, Harley concentrated and soon four more Cacturnes seemed to sprout from his body and circle about the Gible. Aggrivated at being tangled, Gible growled and used a free claw to slash the vines away with fervor and then shook the vines off of his body. Still, the damage had been done and a little seed (seemingly with a mind of its own) began to glow and seemed to return to all four Cacturnes.

Cacturne grinned lightly in his own cactus-like way as he waved an arm (and seemingly four other clones did as well), and spores floated into the air and landed around Gible. Sensing urgency, Gible raised his forepaws and prepared to slam them into the ground just as old, wooden-like knurly vines sprouted forth from the rocky ground. It wrapped about Gible’s frame, but not before Gible had gotten a small amount of telekinetic force into the ground. The shock wave was sent forward, cracking the rocky floor and causing a few jagged edges to burst upwards. It was enough to disrupt one clones, and as luck would have it- the real Harley was injured slightly as well. All clones then disappeared at the break of concentration, but now Gible was vulnerable in his tangled state.

Further angered, agitated and the like, Gible wiggled amongst the plans as his body began to glow with his calling upon his dragon rush attack. However, he was unable to build any momentum or move at all, thus he managed to uproot a few of the hardy plants but was still held fast. Harley sought the opportunity to concentrate and form a glowing green ball of energy before him. The green ball was then hurled straight at Gible, and with no way to avoid the attack, Gible was hit dead on. The only luck Gible had was that the blast’s force damaged the plants as well, allowing only a few more vine-like brambles to hold on to him themselves.

Okay, enough...

Tiamat, since Slash didn't work, this time, I want you to BURN your way out, by using Flamethrower on those vines.

Then, use a Double Team of your own. If that needlenosed Pokemon tries to tie you up again, meet its attack with another Flamethrower to stop it.

Finally, rush towards it and use Dragon Claw. Again, in the event of any binding moves, switch to Flamethrower to discourage it.

Start with an energy ball. Next use a widespread seed bomb to find the real Gible, and when it comes towards you, sock it with a drain punch.

Finally being able to release some of his inner anger, Gible opened his mouth and spewed out a flamethrower so that it easily licked and burned away the plants that bound him. Shaking off the now dead plants, he was rewarded for his efforts by a blasting energy ball that sent him skidding back several feet. Shaking his head in slight surprise, Gible looked up to see that Harley indeed had sent him the present- standing calmly a few yards in front of him.

Determined to turn the tides, Gible concentrated with as much determination as his anger, and soon he produced four other clones of himself so that there were now five Tiamats. Looking at all of them, Harley decided to try to hit all of them at the same time as he suddenly fired out a sprinkle of seed bombs into the air. They arced like a miniature rainbow as they rained down upon the five Gibles, exploding upon impact as they landed either on a Gible or very near upon the ground. Sand rose into the air with each impact, leaving suspense until a little bit of wind blew the sand away to reveal one Gible remaining, miraculously only having taken a very small portion of damage.

Gible wasted no time acting as he rushed straight at Harley- his right claw glowing brightly as he channeled his inner dragon into his next attack. Harley prepared as well, taking a firm stance as he withdrew his cactus-like hand and gathered power into it. The two pokemon then attacked and collided, creating a miniature explosion of sand as the two pokemon connected claw to fist. As the sand settled, both pokemon had been thrown backwards a bit but were both standing. Gible felt a bit drained, but it was apparent that Harley despite his draining attack, he had taken damage too.

Harley keep it up. Use cotton spore again and then sweep in with faint attack to strike Gible. Next use another drain punch. If you're struck with a fire attack, use revenge to punish Gible.

Tiamat, use Flamethrower to repel that Cotton Spore.

Then, surprise him. Use Rock Tomb to restrain him.

Then simply relax for the rest of the round.

Harley continues to have that cactus-like smile upon his face as he once again hurls a few seeds at the little dragon-like pokemon. Having no more of being restrained however, Gible instantly reacts by pointing his nose to the air and opening his mouth to billow out roaring flames that instantly destroy the little seeds. For some reason an ominous wind also blows by as the two pokemon stand at a stand still.

To add to his perhaps creepy smile, Harley tilted his head to the side as he took a step towards his right and then simply… vanished. Slightly bewildered and ultra paranoid, Gible waited for Harley but realized that he could not tell where to place his next attack. It wasn’t until he felt a pain in his side that he realized that the cactus pokemon and knocked him backwards. Focusing however, Gible summoned rocks to sprout from the stony ground and surround Harley in his own little circle stone of solitude.

Harley, like Gible, was no stupid pokemon. He stood in the rocks realizing that a simple drain punch would not do to break through the rocks. So he began to focus and try to devise a plan that he hoped his trainer would also create. Meanwhile, Gible gave a slight yawn as he sat back and relaxed.

I'm here, I'm here! Phew...

Tiamat, he's going to have to spend a round breaking out of that Tomb, so spend your first action just relaxing.

As soon as he breaks out, use Aerial Ace.

Then, use Flamethrower again for good measure.

If for some reason he chooses to wait you out and NOT break out, then switch tactcs. Use Earthquake, and THEN use Flamethrower.

Hmm well use rock smash to break out. counter the aerial ace and respond to the flamethrower with revenge.
