    Default Mech Work

    I am currently in my third year of university, studying animation. For my 3D animation course, we're doing an animation of a mech shooting an antenna array in a snowy background. I've just now rigged up the mech, and after seing some pics, some of my friends have encouraged me to show the rest of you. Well, here they are:

    We'll start with the least interesting, the antenna. It's only meant to be seen from a distance, so not much detail was required.



    And now for the main attraction. My mech. From the front:

    And since it's all rigged up, time for some poses:



    Oooh! Shiny thing!



    See mech. See mech run. Run mech run!



    *Gasps* It's got chicken legs!

    Just so you guys know, I created all this with help from a tutorial.

    Its a cannon on legs....i like it.

    The first running pose isnt really natural though. Look at the AT-ST's from star wars for movement basics. They never have both feet off the floor (most bipedal runners dont to be honest, only for a split second). To run your construct would more than likely do the action in the last image, but very fast.

    Thanks UC, and yeah, fair enough with the running pose. Thankfully in the finished animation it would just be walking, so I just did an exadurated running pose for the hell of it. But thanks for the critique.

    Ok, more has been done on this animation. I've done the environment, animated the mech, now all I need to do is put in the explosion at the end and I am done. For you guys, here's some of the rendered screenshots I have.









    Surprisingly enough, when I was making the texture for the ground, the default colour that came up was purple. As you can see, I fixed it, but I saved a render of it just for laughs.

    I like the purple ground better, honestly. Reminds me of Bionic Commando's screwy color scheme.

    I am so jealous lol jk My fave pic is the 4th one, Im really feeling the snowy landscape. Its not necissary to do but if you want to go for extra detail, put a little frost on the edges of the green glass, because even if its not snowing hard the cold itself would cause frost to form on glass like that. Like I said it looks great without that but its something to think about if you want to add to it ^-^ I demand to see the actual moving version!!! ;D

    AND I can now be considered done. All I need to do is some small adjustments, and then render it, convert it into a movie file, and proect complete. Here are some of the last screeshots:







    The main annoyance in making this wasn't the fire or the smoke. It was actually making the tower explode and fall down (more the explosion)
