373: Salamence

Umm I never really liked Salamence. Yah he got all sorts of useful from his evolution, great attack, good speed, Intimidate, blah blahblah, but I dunno, it didn't really do much for me. I like Flygon better

Oh yeah he was one of the two "Super Pokemon"

#374 Beldum

Quite a very useless pokemon with its only known move being Take-Down. But it is a good thing that you only need to get it to level 20 to finally make it evolve into......

Contrary to its pre-evolved form, Beldum, Metang's movepool offers a much better variety of moves. Like Beldum, it floats by defying gravity with magnetic pulses (which also serves as communication). Apparently when two Beldum come together, they form a Metang and when two Metang come together they form...

#376 Metagross

How many people out there remember restarting Ruby or Sapphire over and over again to get that shiny Beldum that'll eventually become that awesome-looking silver Metagross? Nowadays you can chain for one, but it's still a pain. Aside from its awesome looking shiny form, Metagross is also known for its signature move Meteor Mash, which is only learnable by one other evolution group, that being Clefairy's.

#377 Regirock

The first of the trio for R/S/E and the most useless of the three Regi's. Regi rock isn't very varied in what it can do, it basically just sits there and absorbs damage and before long exploding into a million pieces.

#378 Regice

Known as the iceberg Pokemon, Regice is part 2 of the Hoenn trio. Apparently it's made of ice from the Ice Age, and when compared to the rest of Earth's geological history... it's pretty young. As far as ice-type moves go, it only learns 2 naturally. Its Special Defense is amazing, but everything else is either average or abysmal.

Registeel. The Iron Pokemon. The tallest of the three elemental golems, its body is also harder than that of any other Steel Pokemon. Tempered by hundreds of thousands of pounds of pressure per square centimeter deep below the Earth's surface, not even an atomic bomb is capable of damaging its body. Despite how hard Registeel's body is, it is also quite flexible, leading scientists to believe that it is made of a substance from outer space.

#380 Latias

The first of the duo of Lati, this pokemon is supposedly meant to be quite tuned into peoples emotions and if it sense any hostility toward itself it will either try and scare away the offender of simply disappear using its glassy body to conceal itself.

#381 Latios

Latios is basically the male form of Latias, and he specializes more in Special Attack than Latias does. If he folds in his wings, apparently he can fly faster than a jet plane. This is my brother's favorite Pokemon and he's obsessed with this thing.

#382 Kyogre

Kyogre is Sapphire's box legendary, which is sought out by Team Aqua in their attempts to expand the world's oceans. It's pretty popular in competitive battling due to its drizzle ability which powers up Surf and Thunder, both of which are powerful moves. Due to Kyogre's popularity, Thunder is often preferred in general over Thunderbolt whenever uber pokemon are allowed.

#383 Groudon

Groudon is Kyogre's counterpart, it is the diety of the sea and Groudon is the diety of the land. It is however less desirable then Kyogre as it is a little weaker but its drought ability coupled with it elarning Solarbeam can be devastating.

#384 Rayquaza

While Kyogre and Groudon represent both sea and land, respectively, Rayquaza represents sky as it's indicated by it's natural ability to learn the HM02 Fly via level up and it's location where you find it in the third generation games: the Sky Pillar.

#385 Jirachi

Known as the Wish Pokemon, Jirachi has the ability to grant any wish for just one week every thousand years. There's this "millenium eye" on its stomach, as seen in the movie, Jirachi Wish Maker, where Max befriended one. It wasn't exactly the best movie, and the greatest highlight was an incoming Flygon. o_o;

Deoxys is the DNA pokemon which has 4 different forms. Normal, Attack, Defense and Speed, each form has its own strengths and advantages making it a quite versatile pokemon to have.

#387 Turtwig

We're finally in the 4th generation! Turtwig is one of the pokemon found in Professor Rowan's briefcase in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. If you pick this grass-type pokemon to battle the wild Starlys, your buddy will pick the fire-type Chimchar. Some friend he is, always picking the one that's strong against yours.

#388 Grotle

While it maintains the overall appearance of a turtle, Grotle develops a bushy covering over the sides of its shell upon its evolution from Turtwig. Not that we should be surprised at the plant/animal combination, as the very first Pokemon in the original Pokedex was such a hybrid. Those Pokemon creators really love combining the Animalia and Plantae kingdoms.

Torterra. The Continent Pokemon. This Pokemon's massive ankylosaurian shell is plated with foliage and stony protrusions that smaller Pokemon frequently nest in, and can even spend their entire life inhabiting. They are the largest Grass Pokemon in existence, yet are very docile and tend to avoid fighting whenever possible.

#390 Chimchar

The Chimp Pokemon. Like Charmander, it has a tail of fire, but unlike the lizard Pokemon, Chimchar's tail isn't connected to its life force, as not only can it survive in rainy weather, but its tail flame goes out when it sleeps, so that it doesn't accidentally start a disasterous fire.

391 Monferno

Monferno is a raging monkey pokemon and unlike its pre evolution is begining to get into the swing of using fighting moves as opposed to all fire ones. It bears a striking resemblance to the real life animal, the mandrill.

#392 Infernape

Infernape is the evolved form of Monferno and bears a resemblance to Son Goku, the main character of the Chinese epic, Journey to the West. I personally think its hideous and opted to break my fire-type starter tendency for this sole reason.

Piplup

Categorized as the Penguin Pokemon, Piplup is actually the second creature based off penguins, the first being Delibird. Anatomically speaking, Piplup probably shouldn't be able to stand up due to that beachball-sized head it has. Oh, and I once KO'd my roommate in SSBB using a Piplup. He was embarraaaaaaassed.

Prinplup basically looks like a massive ugly Piplup. Though somehow it still manages to attract the attention of all the girls. It seems like a bit of a waste of a pokemon, maybe they could have done something a bit cooler.

#395 Empoleon

You would think that a fully evolved Penguin Pokémon would be Water/Ice. Instead, Game Freak made it Water/Steel. Why? I'm guessing it has something to do with that layer of fat penguins often have, or something similar. Empoleon's name comes from two source materials: emperor penguin and Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France.

A thought just occurred to me. By the time we get to Arceus, we'll probably have the full 5th gen pokedex, so we'll be able to keep going. Pretty impressive considering this game started before we even knew there'd be a 5th gen. Anyway...

A common sight in the Sinnoh region, Starly is often caught by many trainers starting off their journey there. As it evolves it can easily become a powerhouse of the team, unlike the common birds of other regions.

Staravia

The evolved form of Starly, Staravia is pretty unremarkable, though for some reason its ability is Intimidate which is weird because who the hell is scared of a big grey turkey? Also, its Japanese name, Mukubird, is stupid.

Staraptor. The Predator Pokemon. This large bird Pokemon will fearlessly attack and defeat Pokemon much larger than it using its incredibly sharp claws and its powerful beak. It takes great pride in the appearance and maintenance of the red-tipped comb atop its head.

The Plump Mouse Pokemon. Despite its classification, in my humble opinion, I find it looks more like a young beaver Pokemon, hence what it becomes when it evolves into...

#396 Bibarel

This over large puffed up version of a Raticate is the token useless rodent 2 stage in Diamond and Pearl. It is and its pre evolution are quite useless.

#401 Kriketot

When this little guy was unveiled, everyone thought it was a preevolution of Volbeat and Illumise. Despite its similarity to them, there's no relation. Volbeat and Illumise are fireflies, while Kriketot is a cricket. That just makes the resemblance even stranger.

Kricketune

The fifth Pokemon to reach its final stage by level 10, Kricketune has lame offensive moves (Bide, Leech Life and Fury Cutter) that make it kind of awkward. Much like Butterfree, Beedrill, Beautifly and Beedrill before it, Kricketune soon gets outpaced stats-wise by all your other Pokemon after the first couple Gyms. Poor guy.

If Pikachu is an Electric mouse, this Pokemon is an Electric cat. It appeared in the movie The Rise Of Darkrai where it had a fight with Dawn's Piplup.

#404 Luxio

The Spark Pokemon. Just like a real lion, you don't want to get attacked by this Pokemon's claws, getting scratched can have shocking results, and I mean it, literally.

Luxray. The Gleam Eyes Pokemon. The final evolutionary form of the Shinx family line, this powerful Electric Pokemon has eyes capable of tracking movement in thick fog, in darkness, and even through solid objects such as thick trees and walls. It uses its X-ray vision to find its young as well as to search for prey, which it can track and tear apart easily with its powerful claws and offensive capabilities.

The Bud Pokemon. Budew is the pre-evolution of Roselia and can only be brought about by breeding with the rose incense. A Grass-Poison double type, budew can also be found in the wild. In the Anime, Budew was originally one of Nando's pokemon and fought with Dawn's Piplup. beware, it may look like just a sprout, but it's a mean bean

#407 Roserade

When exposed to a Shiny Stone, Roselia evolves into this Pokemon. Roserade has the unusual ability to learn Weather Ball, a move that was once exclusive to Castform. A Roserade using Sunny Day to power up Solarbeam and Synthesis could have Weather Ball as a fire-type move. Pairing Weather Ball with Rain Dance however, gives Roserade a powerful weapon against Fire-types.

Cranidos. The Head Butt Pokemon. One of the earliest fossil Pokemon, Cranidos existed in jungles over 100 million years ago. Its domed skull is, pound for pound, harder than iron, and it only becomes harder and more durable as this Pokemon rams its head against others of its kind, or obstackles in its path such as thick trees and even boulders.

(409) Rampardos:

This Pokemon is based off a Pachycephalosaurid. Though which species is still unclear at this time...¬¬. It's a "glass cannon" battler, meaning it hits hard, but it can be taken down just as easily. Pretty good for Mid-game sweeps if played right n_n.

Shieldon

Much like Cranidos, Shieldon is attainable by resurrecting it from a fossil. It's based off a ceratopsian and, aww, it's so friggin' cute! It bears a couple of similarities to Aron, namely its appearance, Rock/Steel typing and ability to learn Metal Burst. Best fossil Pokemon ever, hands down.

Bastiodon. The Shield Pokemon. The evolved form of Shieldon. Despite its frightening appearance, it is a very docile creature that feeds on berries and other plant matter. Herd members by nature, they stand side by side and use their thick frills to form a wall, protecting their young when confronted by an enemy. When forming this living blockade, no known Pokemon attack can break through.

OK, time to pick this up, especially considering the fact that my prediction that all the 5th gen pokemon would be revealed by the time we finished came true. Now we need to keep this going all the way to Genosect!

#412 Burmy
Burmy will evolve depending on two factors, its gender and current form. If Burmy is male, it will become a Mothim, but if it's female, it becomes Wormadam. Wormadam's form depends on the form Burmy took when it evolved, but unlike Burmy, Wormadam's form is permanent, and its type depends on its form.
