    Vitamins. Some people say that they only give effort points, but this can't be true because you see an immediate bonus in their stats, while effort points only apply when you level up. So, they must give some stat bonuses, though I'm not sure of the effort points. My question is, how many stat bonuses and effort point bonuses do vitamins give?

    Effort points are not recalculated only when you level up... They are also recalculated when you give the pokémon a vitamin or put the pokémon in the PC Box. The stat bonus you see when you use a vitamin is there solely due to the extra ten effort points.

    So using vitamins on something with max effort points would have no effect at all?

    Right, it wouldn't have any effect because your pokemon wouldn't take the vitamin. The number of stat increases a vitamin gives you is usually 2 to 3. It takes 4 effort points to raise a stat up 1. So 10/4 = 2 (rounded down). But let's say your pokemon had 2 effort points already from fighting... so if you gave it a vitamin, it would raise that stat up 3 because 2 + 10 = 12 / 4 = 3.

    That's only at L100, One... At lower levels, you get a much lower stat boost from 10 effort points, because the formula involves multiplying effort points and level. If you're at L50, you get 1 stat point for every 8 effort points, and at L25, you get 1 stat point for every 16.

    Your pokémon will begin to refuse vitamins when the associated stat has 100 effort points or more. After that point, you have to train them against other pokémon to continue raising their effort points. So a hatchling will take 10 vitamins of a given type, letting you train it 40% of the way to a maxed stat with no real time required, but if you want to max that stat you've got to take it out and fight with it.

    What!?

    I'm a genius, but dang... Confusing!

    I don't think anyone else is going to understand that.

    The max effort points a PKMN can attain is 510.

    The max effort points any one stat can have is 255.

    Because of this you can only ever max two of the PKMN's stats.

    10 vitamins will give your PKMN 100 effort points towards the given stat.

    The other 150 points will have to be earned battling PKMN.

    [EDIT]

    Changed some values because of :: One :: 's & jusrelac's posts.

    Actually, the max is 510 total, and the max for an individual stat is 255.

    Close, you're off a tiny bit though. Total max effort is 510, and total for one stat is 255 (but, keep in mind in the formal you divide the effort points by 4, so going up to only 252 makes more sense).
