Ashley then lived with a boyfriend’s family before moving back in with her father and stepmother.

“She made this house a living hell,” said France, Ashley’s stepmother, citing constant lying, stealing from her siblings and flagrant disobedience.

Ashley’s parents and stepmother say although she saw a number of therapists and psychiatrists, Ashley has never been formally diagnosed with any mental illness.

“She has lived in a fantasy world as long as we’ve known her, where she’s a princess and everyone adores her,” said her stepmother.

Gonna go against the kneejerk reaction and point out that no one could develop emotionally normal with family attitudes like this. Even when a kid is acting like a total manipulative bitch, the parents usually (and should) defend their child by pointing out that she was hanging out with bad influences, depression due to a breakup or being picked on at school, etc. The fact that every member of her immediately family ran to the media to badmouth her says a lot about them. She may very well be scum but they certainly aren't helping.

That's what I thought. It's a bit fishy that they claim "she was never diagnosed with anything" and still claim that she's seen a lot of psychiatrists and therapists. Considering the fact that she did this in the first place, and the way her family is, it makes me wonder whether their claims about her having received help are true.
