Here we go. Diving down with Vigil here, as we scour the Route for our battlers, ahh there they are. They choose to start by the Embedded Tower. Nice hidden place, away from outsiders. After a random lottery which hey choose their opponents from the competitors belt. we have a spiderlike match for the first set.

Faie slides forward on its teeny skinny legs and dashes back and forth. It longingly looks to the water, and enacts a plan. That plan gets an immediate kink as Webster scuttles forward with a manly strut, and Faie kinds thinks the 8 legged thing is pretty hawt.

Glad she thinks he's cute, Webster scuttles closer, raising a leg and pointing it at her face,. but Faie doesn't so anything more but stare at him. Aww its cyuute. I wanna squash them both with a flyswatter..but Webster still smacks her in the face with his leg. Owch.

Sensing no dancer, Webster just resorts to snapping her out of her trance. Can't have snitches hanging all over him. A small but potent series of waves wash over her, and she winces. That stung, but was that his version of a air kiss. <3<3. She squees in joy and fires off an Ice Beam in response! Webster jumps back, but is struck and carried a good ways by the beam. Faster than anything, Faie is right next to him, snuggling.

Sucker Punch:-DRK-This move is a very fast high damaging punch move, but it will work only if the target intends on damaging them this turn. Otherwise, the move fails.

Wouldn't the Sucker Punch still go through since she technically "intended" to attack Webster. My view is that the Sucker Punch would go through since she wanted to use Water Pulse, and since you can't pre-empt when an Attraction stall happens then it would be taken as read that she wanted to attack therefore letting Sucker Punch hit.

Ha, and there's the fun in status moves. You're right, you can't predict when an Attract will happen, but when it does, intentions change-that therefore hinders Sucker Punch's usability as you pointed out.

Since you caused Attract, her intentions change at the flip of a hat. S'why I pointed out that Faie just stood there-alerting Webster no attack was coming.

The command given was to attack, but the Pokemon, the thing you wanna hit; its only intention was to stare at Webster with love exuding from her frame. Basically, lets say if Webster went for the hit, and all Faie did was stand there still. That would make no sense since Faie still would not have attacked. Even that example forces Sucker Punch to fail since Webster would have moved in...and saw nothing happening. Its hard not to get the Trainer's intent - and the Pokemon's intent confused.

Therefore the intent was not on attacking, forcing Sucker Punch to fail.

Astute observation and question; really glad you brought that up.

Well when I did an ingame test, my theory was proved right. Regardless of wether the offending pokemon is going to be attracted or not, Sucker punch works as long as they selected a damaging attack.

The small Surskit was still enamored with the spider, and she scuttled close. Webster fired a Psychic to knock the bug off, but Faie wold not take no for an answer! She flicked a large slew of Mud that splattered all over Webster, blinding him!

Webster looked up at the sun, and watched as Faie seemed to be performing a dance for him. Wait no no dancing! Aww crap, now clouds are gonna come in over the ocean! Webster delivered a swift punishment by throwing a Psychic blast her way.
