To begin the fight, Taylor will use Swagger to infuriate Sandshrew, String Shot to hold him down, then Bug Bite him.

Okay Sandshrew, start with a Swords Dance so you can try to keep a level head. Cut through the String Shot, and then use Brick Break.

Wow. Reffing tablet full. I'm here reffing for a newbie and returner now . both are great things to have and I am anxious to see how this turns out. Our newcomer, nsmbwii (try saying that 5x fast) tosses out a worm wrapped in a tree star (!!), while Shiv flips out a ornery Sandshrew.

Sandshrew peers at the bug for a moment, before raising his hands and calling its own name. All of a sudden, Taylor hops on its tail and tries to do the same. Its obvious Taylor is just copying, but its starting to tick Sandshrew off. He focuses though, and continues with is dance, no matter how much that bug copies his every move. By the end, he only reaps the benefit of his own dance, nothing more.

Sa: -3E +2 Atk ~~ Ta: -3E

Well, that didn't work out right. Sewaddle goes for a more direct approach, and starts flinging sticky weblike fluid at Sandy over here. It connects, and starts to hold Snadshrew to the ground. Which he doesn't mind. His free hand however comes over and around to cut himself free of the connective webbing.

A little miffed that things aren't really going his way right now, Taylor goes for a great ol chunk of Shrew. He gets it...in the mouth. Taylor is punched directly in the jaw by Sandshrew, for increased damage. But he keeps his grip and manages to bite pretty hard on Sand's arm.

Releasing, Taylor felt his own abilities rise in conjunction.

Well, Taylor realizes now that he's gotta move faster than his opponent. So with little more than a swift wiggling of his legs he zips to the right of the incoming paw. A second attempt, and he zips back again. Sandshrew tries once again, but his berth is too small to hit the now speedy bug.

Sa: -5E ~~ Ta: -3E +2 Spd

Pleased to have avoided the first blow of that Shrew, Taylor now tries to think offensively. He spits out a few mulched pieces of leaves, that all seemed to have one sharp edge. They all cut along the incoming Pokemon's hide, giving him deep grooves of pain. But Sandshrew fights through, and uses his innate power to punch Taylor in the face with a toxic infused fist!

Taylor hacks, having barely avoided actually injecting some of that crud. Where did Sandshrew even create poison from. It was a moot point, as the pangolin went for another attack. Not caring what was coming down on him, Taylor created a small but tight barrier that bounced the attacker back with surprising strength! Sandshrew stared for a bit, realizing he wasn't getting through THAT level of protection.

With the speed advantage, Taylor takes full advantage of the seemingly sluggish Sandshrew. Before the mammal can even dig halfway into the ground, his rump is torn apart by a torrent of leaves. Taylor squeals in joy, as the digger vanishes.

Sa: -3E/-15H ~~ Ta: -4E

Sandshrew hisses, and makes a winding path that Taylor could not follow. Waiting patiently, Taylor took the next hit with pride. Sand blasted upward, tossing Taylor up; but at the cost of a bunch of tree-stars slashing his face. Sand fell on his back, pained from that.

Sa: -7E/-15H -Spd ~~ Ta: -4E/-4H

Breathing heavily, Sandshrew rolled over and regained his bearings. That bug hit very hard for...well...a baby bug! So his retaliation came swiftly, a sharp cutting force that seemed to continually sear Taylor's back for a while.

Taylor cried out in pain, and bounced backwards, barely stopping himself from flying into a rock. Amassing all the negative feelings from that blow, he struck back, headbutting Sand and causing them both to roll around from impact.

Sa: -3E/-10H ~~ Ta: -5E/-24H

Taylor felt his strength fade...saddened by that a lil.

Taylor smirked, this ground type was gonna be an easy fell. At least, that was it seemed like as the armored Pokemon came rolling into the bevy of swift currents. However, that first rocky strike...had a fierce punch to it that didn't..sit well with Taylor.

Sa: -3E/-5H ~~ Ta: -4E/-10H

Taylor noted that the Sandshrew did not stop spinning. In fact, it was revving back to try for a second strike. Taylor freaked and fired more leaves at the coiled up shrew, but the leaves seemed to not so anything. The second strike collided hard, flattening Taylor.

Sa: -3E/-12H ~~ Ta: -5E/-20H

The revving shrew comes speeding into the view of Taylor again, and Taylor fires a second series of leaves to hopefully stop the rolling threat. The leaves do damage, but Taylor is squished a third time! Yeowch.

Talk about a heavy hitting round.

Taylor was stunned. This thing was still rolling. That next hit would be devastating, so he quickly whipped up a small batch of leaves to unleash. It was enough to slow the Sandshrew and caused him to unfurl. He laid out, completely dizzy and winded.

With Sand gone, Shiv releases a fiery pup ready to end the job Sand was not built to do. Taylor looks nervous, that guy does not look fin. Indeed, fighting a fire type is not my idea of fun either, but the pup does like the idea of eating some grubs!

Taylor shoots a String shot that does trip up the Houndour, but the dog manages to reach Taylor and bit down pretty hard on the squishy goodies.

Ho: -6E -Spd ~~ Ta: -2E/-9H

Taylor squealed, and in that squeal threw out a bunch more stringy mess to cover Houndour's snout. The pup manages to scratch enough off for it to breathe, but there's still a considerable amount on it. Not for long though, as smoke and embers seem to build from its feet and cycle around its legs. The shots are burned away, as he collides with Taylor.

Out goes Taylor, in comes Trapinch. In this field, Trapinch feels more than quick enough to burrow into the terra. The Houndour finds this puzzling, as he breaths out a poisonous Smog that spreads throughout the air for a few moments..

With his target invisible for the moment, Houndour looks around pensively. Nope, not taking any-Nope! Trapinch comes up biting, that massive jaw clamping onto the pup's foot. Houndour swats him off with his left forelimb and then runs back, splitting into 4 pups.

Ho: -3E/-16H 3 cl ~~ Ta: -3E

All the pups have a limp, and they all start to howl. Through the howling, Trapinch calls up a bounty of earthen energy. This blast surges through and strikes a pup dead center.As the cumulative dust settles, there's nothing left...but 3 Houndours. Craaap.

Trapinch eyes his choices, before deciding to go for the one to the right, as he makes his decision, Houndour fires off a nasty ball of Sludge. The antlion is deceptively quick, and vanishes before the Bomb splatters all over the place.

Hounour looks around, and below him. Smart, he actually catches Trapinch's eye one second before the strike. It still hurt, but Houndour was able to walk it off.

Ho: -7E/-6H ~~ Tr: -6E

Knowing it had to get a hit in, Houndour chased Trapinch down as it came to a stop. Before it got away to burrow again, the pup manages to get his teeth on Trap's hindquarters and shake him around a bit. Trapinch was shook violently before thrown aside like last weeks' trash.

Instead of lying there and wincing, Trapinch just burrowed away.

Ho: -6E ~~ Tr: -3E/-9H

Houndour knew this would end bad if he didn't think, and this time, his idea was a bit more sound. Knowing the attack would have to come around him, Houndour kept his eyes on his hurt foot.

Just like clockwork! Trapinch surged upward, and that paw was chomped on. A residual chomp from Houndour was committed, and Trapinch immediately let go, shocked by the pain.

Keep up the pressure with a Bulldoze, than Rock Slide. Finally, top it off with an Earthquake.

By the way, I noticed that Trapinch's health is down lower than usual despite taking only 2 hits that weren't super effective. The damage as read through out the round is 19% combing the Crunch and Faint Attack from Houndour even though the aftermath leaves Trapinch 69% of health.

Trapinch grunted, but shook off the blows, in order to continue the pressure on the Houndour. The ground starts to tilt at a gradient, tripping Houndour up. The dog falls over from the shifting ground, but manages to cough up his dissent at Trapinch. It landed in his mouth, eww. (-1)

Ho: -3E/-14H -Spd~~ Tr: -5E Txc lvl 1

Hundour felt really sluggish right now. But with Trapinch spitting out that Toxic waste, he had a shot. A chilling wind came over the antlion, forcing his joints to stay put. Trapinch forced his jaws to open, but launching rocks was out of the question, as he bashed his head into them with little effect. (-1)

Ho: -3E ~~ Tr: Chilled

Still colds, Trapinch decides to up the ante. Ok so he can't throw, but he can fall over. He does just that and forces the ground to shiver and quake. But Houndour, that pup is at the ready. An impassible barrier keeps him apart from the shivering earth. (-1)

Chomping at the bit, Trapinch rears his head and starts a nasty Earthquake that topples the pup over. However, flames start to encircle the Houndour, whom recovers from his spill. Dashing forward, the pup slams into the Trapinch, reversing the sluggishness he seemed to have been encumbered with. (-2)

Ho: -5E/-20H +Spd~~ Tr: -8E/-8H

Trapinch did not appreciate that at all. With jaws open, he forced the Houndour to eat a second Earthquake. The pup groaned, and fell on his side, pained from the feeling. But...he stayed down..and somehow fell asleep. Trapinch seems quite disproving of this (-2)

Ho: -20E/-20H/+45H Slp~~ Tr: -8E

But, being asleep has its disadvantages. That being Trapinch having his way with the ground and completely scarfing away all that great health he picked up.
