    I accept!

    Here's the arena:

    Mt. Victory, Unova.
The exterior of Victory road is packed with treacherous slopes and jagged rocks, with various small patches of grass where some pokemon can appear. It is the same as in the games, but the slopes can be traversed by certain pokemon; generally the ones that appear around that area and flying types obviously. Each round there is a chance of wild pokemon interviening with the battle, and the chances are as follows:

    75% of the time: Nothing
7% of the time: Wild Heatmor appear and use flamethrower on the nearest pokemon
5% of the time: Wild Durant appear and use sand attack on the nearest pokemon
5% of the time: Wild Mienfoo appear and use fake out on the nearest pokemon
3% of the time: Wild Rufflet appear and use tail wind on the closest pokemon
3% of the time: Wild Vullaby appear and use tail wind on the closest pokemon
1% of the time: The doctor from the inside of the cave comes out and heals both pokemon
1% of the time: Terrakion appears and uses sacred sword or stone edge on the closest pokemon. 50% chance for each attack.

If a move like earthquake or magnitude is used it will cause a landslide, angering the wild pokemon and making their chances to appear increase by 10%, and consequently the rate of not seeing a wild pokemon goes down to just 15%.

    Rules:
    2 vs. 2 single battle
    DQ Time: 3 days
Banned moves: All status moves. (they annoy the heck outta me xD, others are negotiable)
Optional: Use at least one pokemon from around that area if possible.

I send out first, Darth CookieMonster sends out and attacks, I attack.

I'll send out my new male Rufflet Aikoku with the sheer force ability.

Thought this would be quite fun to try out, since I just passed victory road on Pokemon White :3

    I could remove it, but it does say in the rules 'no status moves'. So that means thunder wave ^^;

Does that mean no moves that inflict a status (Stun Spore, Toxic, Will-O-Wisp) or no moves that the game categorizes as Status (Bulk Up, Rain Dance, including the above status-inducing moves as well)?

Start off with rock smash when it approaches to attack with spark, then use rock tomb (I was surprised it could even use this myself ^^; ) to create a shield to hide behind when it uses charge beam and finally whilst still hiding use tail wind to speed yourself up.

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 1 ‡

Welcome, ladies and gents, to Mt. Victory! Here, as many trainers strive to complete their perilous quests toward the Pokemon League, two trainers prepare to duke it out. Today, seasoned expert DCM will face off against relative newbie Cynder. Both fighters appear ready to duke it out. With no further adieu, let’s get this show on the road! (Victory Road, that is! *promptly shot*)

Cynder is the first to release, sending a cute widdle birdie into battle. The Rufflet beats his wings and is soon airborne, allowing him to sail clearly over the rough terrain with relative ease. DCM counters by sending a tin can into the field, which similarly hovers over the jutting rocks and crags without worry. Do I smell a shameless type advantage? Gigabyte drifts over toward Aikoku and prepares to fire off a crackling Spark attack. As soon as he’s within range, Aikoku dive-tackles the Magnemite as though shattering rocks. The chunk of metal tumbles away due to the Sheer Force of the blow. However, Gigabyte successfully launches that Spark attack at Aikoku who shrieks as the static wracks his body with pain.

    Gigabyte: <-8 HP; -5 EP>
    Aikoku: <-13 HP; -2 EP>

Aikoku gives his head a shake. That was not fun. Determined to protect himself from another mind-numbing jolt, Aikoku tackles a nearby array of boulders which tumble down to the ground between the two fighters. At this moment, Gigabyte unleashes a concentrated burst of electricity which sends the tomb of rocks scattering every which way. Just like that, Aikoku’s handy-dandy little barrier is gone.

Gigabyte hums in robotic delight as its stats take a turn for the better.

    Gigabyte: <-3 EP; +1 SpA>
    Aikoku: <-3 EP>

Suddenly, a rippling breeze begins whistling through the stone spires of Mt. Victory. Aikoku extends his wings to their full breadth and allows himself to be jetted about by the force of this Tailwind. While Aikoku drifts about with tremendous speed, Gigabyte does its best to lock onto its foe with a powerful Thunderbolt. The flash of electricity crackles toward the birdie whose sudden speed just barely allows him to coast on by the attack. The Magnemite narrows its eye in fury. Oh, it’s on.

    Gigabyte: <-8 EP>
    Aikoku: <-4 EP; Twd>

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

Spam that annoying lil ba***** with hidden power ground. If it attempts to attack with something, use the boost from tailwind to dodge and follow up with scary face to slow it down. If he uses one more than once, only use scary face once and then just dodge and use hidden power ground. If for some reason you can't dodge, eg. shockwave, lock on before the attack, etc. then use a teeny tiny (1-2 HP) substitute, just enough to stop the attack. If it uses magnet rise or whatever else stops it being hit by a ground type move then use hidden power fire. If he stops your attack with protect, use work up. We need to beat this guy before he does us too much damage.

Since when can you control what Hidden Power you use?

    Anyways

Take the hidden Power like a pro, then use Rain Dance. Follow that up with two Thunder's. Go ahead and Scary Face me... ur about to be pulverized.

Just a note... you don't get to choose your Hidden Power type. It's randomly generated by the referee and will remain as such for the duration of the match. (If Aikoku's Hidden Power turns out to be Normal, for example, it will remain Normal for the whole battle.) Additionally, certain commands such as specifying the exact health of the Substitute won't work. You can only use vague descriptors (small, medium, etc.) and the ref will interpret that based on their own unique reffing style. My regular Substitute size is 15 HP and can also be either 10 HP or 20 HP based on whether the user decides they want small or large one.

These are just a couple things to keep in mind. As with anything, there's a bit of learning curve and you inevitably iron out all these pesky misunderstandings along the way.

    Will have this up tomorrow.

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 2 ‡

As we enter the next round, things seem to be fairly even for the most part. Can things stay like this? Aikoku seems to want them to and powers up a burst of energy. Ooh, this is always fun! What type will it take? The invisible Hidden Power roulette wheel starts spinning and lands on… ooh, look at that! A crystal-blue ball of energy tumbles through the air and strikes Gigabyte with minimal effect. Aww, nuts. Gleeful, Gigabyte does a little spin in the air and a peal of thunder echoes through the atmosphere. Egads! Little bullets of rain scour the field.

Gigabyte giggles. The tin can has a plan.

    Gigabyte: <-4 HP; -4 EP>
    Aikoku: <-5 EP>

While rain pelts the craggy escarpment, Aikoku watches as Gigabyte charges up for an electrical assault. Not gonna happen! Guided by his Tailwind, Aikoku truly believes he can dodge this next strike as he flies in circles around the Magnemite. Unaware that the rain will make evasion impossible, Aikoku scrunches up his face into a big, nasty glare. Relatively unworried, Gigabyte launches the Thunder attack. It fries the Rufflet alive.

    Gigabyte: <-10 EP; -2 Spd>
    Aikoku: <-20 HP; -4 EP>

Aikoku teeters midair in a daze. That… hurt. That hurt a lot. The birdie watches as Gigabyte charges up a second Thunder and decides that another Hidden Power strike is in order. The blue beam collides with Gigabyte’s steely enamel and does minimal damage once again. As rain continues to soak the field, Gigabyte fires off that second Thunder attack. Its effects are excruciating for Aikoku who plummets from the air to the rocky field below. Poor guy.

    Gigabyte: <-4 HP; -10 EP>
    Aikoku: <-20 HP; -5 EP>

Use that tailwind to your avantage one final time - use U-turn before it can move. Then I'll send out my female custom vulpix Yurei, with drought ability.

Yuri, since the rain will go away automatically when you enter the battle, take full advantage of the sunlight and use fire blast followed by heat wave.

    Aikoku: U-Turn

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 3 ‡

The next round begins as Aikoku flaps his wings feebly and attains flight once more. Things aren’t looking too good for this feathery pipsqueak. Deciding to call a loss a loss, Aikoku zips toward Gigabyte and drags his talons against the Magnemite’s steely frame to minimal effect. Suddenly, Aikoku glows read and unceremoniously returns to his Pokeball. Cool! Cynders plucks another ball from his belt and gives it a toss, summoning a Vulpix into the fray. The raindrops strike the little fox who frowns. Yurei has a different weather forecast in mind… sun! The rain simmers down to silence and is swiftly replaced by radiant beams of sunlight. Gigabyte, squinting through the brightness, tries to unleash another Thunder but it misses Yurei by quite a bit and instead strikes the escarpment. A few boulders tumble aimlessly to the ground below.

    Gigabyte: <-4 HP; -10 EP>
    Aikoku: <-5 EP>

Yurei bounces atop a smooth, flat rock and opens wide as the wind dances in between her many tails. She unleashes a wicked Fire Blast that roasts poor Gigbyte alive, even inflicting a nasty burn. The sunlight intensifies the heat nicely. In retaliation, Gigabyte goes for a Thunderbolt. Yurei is zapped but comes out ultimately okay.

    Gigabyte: <-23 HP; -8 EP; Brn>
    Yurei: <-14 HP; -10 EP>

Iiiiiit’s Heat Wave time! Opening wide once again, Yurei breathes out a steady current of ridiculously hot air that again receives a sunlight boost. Gigabyte squints as the Heat Wave fries his circuits and retaliates with a second Thunder… which again misses! Ahh! What rotten luck!

    Gigabyte: <-20 HP; -10 EP>
    Yurei: <-8 EP>

The Burn does its nasty thang on Gigabyte <-3 HP>.

    > Aikoku is now locked in and will necessarily be the next Pokemon you send out, Cynder
    > Tailwind will remain in effect for two more actions (which seems weird, but that's how the move works)

So I'm guessing that means that nobody else can change the weather now? Neat! Okay then, start off with safeguard; can't be too careful, then use flamethrower to roast that little magnetic sprocket, and finish with another fire blast. If it doesn't use a damaging attack for a round, then use calm mind. Only once though, just follow through with the main command if he doesn't use a damaging move more than once.

    (Oh yeah Oslo, I'm a girl ^^; )

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 4 ‡

Yurei smirks, pleased by the sudden turn in the tides her presence has allowed. She closes her eyes and mutters a few words under her breath. Suddenly, a silver-white veil of energy materializes and hugs itself tight around her frame. With that, she achieves invulnerability to statuses. Cool! Gigabyte tries to generate some protection of her own, but some of the locals don’t seem too eager on allowing that to happen. A Mienfoo bounces out of a rocky crevice a few feet away from Gigabyte and hits him with a lightning-fast strike. The sudden Fake Out catches Gigabyte off-guard and renders him momentarily tranfixed. The Martial Arts Pokemon snickers and returns to the little hidey-hole from whence it came.

    Gigabyte: <-2 HP; Fln>
    Yurei: <-4 EP; Sgd>

Delighted by the sudden turn of events, Yurei opens wide and scorches her foe with a red-hot gout of flames. Gigabyte shrieks in agony as the sunlight increases the attack’s bite. In retaliation, the Magnemite begins spinning wildly in the middle of the air before darting toward its foe. The move strikes Yurei right in the kisser but, for a super effective move, deals mild damage. Gigabyte doesn’t care, however, and merely continues rolling and building momentum.

The Tailwind suddenly dies away to silence.

    Gigabyte: <-20 HP; -3 EP>
    Yurei: <-5 HP; -8 EP>

Time to keep up the heat! From her rock, Yurei releases yet another fiery attack, this one in the shape of some kind of foreign symbol. The Fire Blast comes thiiis close to melting the Magnemite to molten goo, but the Magnet Pokemon perseveres. It keeps on rolling and collides with Yurei once again, this time dealing a little bit more damage.

    Gigabyte: <-23 HP; -3 EP>
    Yurei: <-9 HP; -10 EP>

The Burn suddenly flares up, giving Gigabyte another thing to gripe about <-3 HP>.

    ‡ Round 5 ‡

Ooh, this round ought to be an easy one to ref. Gigabyte, deciding to call a loss a loss, scrunches up his eye and Explodes in a massive discharge of energy. As the shockwaves advance, Yurei throws up a Protective barrier of orange energy just in the nick of time. Dust obscures the field.

As the detritus settles, Gigabyte falls to the rocks below with a massive clunk. Yurei breathes a sigh of relief.

DCM solemnly recalls his fallen Magnemite to its Pokeball before contemplating his next selection. Giving another ball a toss, he summons a large seafaring creature into battle, except there doesn’t appear to be any seas to fare here. Instead, the Lapras finds herself placed on a flat rock in the middle of the sun.

Closing her eyes, Yurei begins generating a ball of pure life energy. Meanwhile, Aquamarine closes her eyes and begins… a Surf? But there’s no water here to even hit Yurei with! How’s that supposed to—

Suddenly, the ground beneath us starts rumbling and from the rocky escarpment a massive discharge of water comes smashing through the stone toward Yurei. Oh, there’s water in the cave. Silly me. Suddenly, eyes glowing green, Yurei aims the energy build-up in the direction of the oncoming deluge. The Energy Ball attack cuts easily through the Surf and, rather then getting demolished by the water, it actually manages to weaken the water’s might. Aquamarine suffers the full strength of the energy ball while Yurei is hit by the weakened Surf. That was exciting!

    Aquamarine: <-12 HP; -10 EP>
    Yurei: <-7 HP; -6 EP>

Pleased by how that went down, Yurei envelops her body in crackling flames and lunges toward Aquamarine. She collides with the massive beast’s flipper, scorching it effectively, though suffers the brute force of a close-range Hydro Pump that sends poor Yurei colliding with some rocks. Yurei gets back up to her feet shortly thereafter, stumbling in a daze.

    Aquamarine: <-16 HP; -10 EP>
    Yurei: <-15 HP; -12 EP; -2 SpA>

Time to deliver a little Payback! Payback for what, exactly? Not sure! Either way, bristling with Dark-type energy, Yurei lunges at Aquamarine. Again, she collides with the flipper, but deals much less damage this time. Indifferent to her foe’s attempt to do damage, Aquamarine calls out to the heavens. Clouds roll in and bring the Drought to an end. Hailstones pelt the field, striking our two fighters, though Aquamarine doesn’t seem to notice.

    Aquamarine: <-5 HP; -4 EP>
    Yurei: <-3 EP>

The Hail strikes Yurei mercilesly <-3 HP>.

Idk if its gonna be drought again soon, but anyways.

    If its stays as Hail

Hydro pump - scald - hydro pump

If it goes to drought then bulldoze - ancientpower - bulldoze

Relax to get your energy up for 2 turns, and use pain split on the last turn. If on any of the turn your HP falls below 10, then use Pain Split and Energy Ball for whatever turns are left.

    ‡ Round 7 ‡

As the hailstones pelt the mountainside, Yurei closes her eyes and curls up for a bit of R&R. Recognizing her opponent’s moment of vulnerability, Aquamarine opens wide and lets loose with a pressurized cascade of water. This time around, without any pesky Sunny Days or Energy Balls to weaken the attack, the aquatic discharge does an impressive amount of damage. Yurei is tossed off her rock to the ground below.

    Aquamarine: <-10 EP>
    Yurei: <-20 HP; +6 EP>

Leaping atop another rock, Yurei decides to have another moment of relaxation. Aquamarine, fine with this strategy, unleashes a second burst of water, this one steaming hot. The Scald attack again throws Yurei off her rock. Oh my, what is a sleepy Vulpix to do?

    Aquamarine: <-6 EP>
    Yurei: <-14 HP; +6 EP>

Time for Hydro Pump number three! The watery blast torments Yurei further, driving her into the rocky ground, but this little Vulpix has had enough. With her HP so low, there’s nothing to do here but... split the difference! She closes her eyes and establishes a mental link with the unwilling Aquamarine. Health itself seems to pass between them, draining Aquamarine as it boosts Yurei. Suddenly, both combatants find themselves on even footing. (Not that Aquamarine has feet.)

Judging by the look on that Lapras’s face, I don't think she's very impressed.

    Aquamarine: <-30 HP; -10 EP>
    Yurei: <-20 HP; +30 HP; -12 EP>

The Hail robs Yurei of a little bit of the new health <-3 HP>.

    > This round was reffed with a 40% damage cap (which was why Yurei didn't die after that last Hydro Pump); since she was subsequently healed, she was then able to take that 3 HP Hail damage

Subs: If it uses Protect, use Calm Mind. If it uses Mirror Coat or anything that deflects an attack, use protect or dodge.

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 8 ‡

Pleased that things are more or less even health-wise, Yurei coughs out another ball of swirly green energy. The attack connects but is robbed of a little bit of its bite due to the lingering effects of that Overheat a couple of rounds back. In retaliation, Aquamarine douses her foe with another high-pressure blast of aquatic badassery. Yurei is tossed into a boulder and, just to salt the wound, a Heatmor pops out of a nearby hole and berates the Vulpix with a gout of crackling flames. How rude!

    Aquamarine: <-10 HP; -10 EP>
    Yurei: <-20 HP; -5 HP from Flamethrower; -6 EP>

Rinse and repeat! Now on her last legs, Yurei goes for another Energy Ball. Aquamarine, growling as she eats the attack and feels her Special Defence drop a tad, decides that this will end here. One last Hydro Pump drives Yurei into the escarpment. She doesn’t get back up. This little fire fox is down for the count.

    Aquamarine: <-10 HP; -10 EP; -1 SpD>
    Yurei: <-9 HP; -6 EP>

The Hail continues to fall over the scene of our little battle. It tickles Aquamarine.

Start off with Sunny Day to stop the hail and make the blizzard easier to dodge. Then dodge the Blizzard whilst it's charging and when dodged use Rock Slide, and finish with yet another good old dodge and Rock Slide.

o.O LOL Yeeeah Darth, there was dodging since before you began. Its uncommon, but it exists, and it doesn't always have a great rate of occurring quite the way you want it to.
