Ladies and gents, and welcome another second round battle of this lovely Survival Tournament! Today, two of the winners from the first round, Ayeun and MLG, will square off for a chance to fight (*deftly slicks back hair and strikes a pose, ends up stumbling*) yours truly in the finals! Without further adieu, let’s get this show on yonder road.

The trainers summon their Pokemon into this bug-infested forest, calling upon a spooky black genie a pink… otter… thing? With a handy-dandy type advantage under her belt, Spook is the first to strike with a wave of negative energy. Alert despite her dopey nature, Athene vanishes as the pulse crashes into a nearby tree. A swarm of miffed Combees vacates the tree, buzzing irritably. However, their annoyance is nothing compared to Spook’s as Athene reappears right behind her and attacks the ghostie with a veritable cannonball of electric current. High voltage runs up and down her body, causing her muscles (or… whatever ghosts have…) to go undesirably rigid. Eep.

Spook deals a little jolty goodness of her own with a sunshine-yellow beam of electrical energy. Instead of Teleporting this time, Athene takes the hit to the gut and… continues peering at Spook dopily. Is there a plan of sorts a-brewin’?

Suddenly, Spook feels stronger.

The match presses on a sudden breeze begins to rustle the leaves of our clearing. Without warning, the breeze elevates into a gale-force wind that seems to be causing some kind of spectral damage to Athene. Barely able to keep herself from getting blown away, the Slowbro tosses a Shadow Ball against the blasting wind. It hits Spook in the gut. With that, all goes silent once more.

Athene: <-13 HP; -8 EP>

As Spook begins to set herself right after that unpleasant Shadow Ball, Athene opens wide and pumps out a concentrated blast of foaming, salty water. The salt irritates Spook’s wounds and stings extra hard. Letting out a mournful wail, Spook hurls a Shadow Ball of her own at her opponent. In tandem, she mutters an incantation. Purple energy envelops Athene. Something curious is happening…

As the battle wears on, it’s still anybody’s game. Athene, using her handy-dandy precognitive skills, anticipates what move is about to come down the pike and tries to anticipate it. Without warning, she erupts with a burst of dark energy that’s more painful than any Dark Pulse Spook herself has ever created before? Stupefied by her opponent’s strength, Spook nonetheless fights darkness with darkness and returns the favour, dealing a super effective hit against Athene.

Athene: <-14 HP; -8 EP>

Athene begins to glow with Psychic energy as she anticipates her opponent’s next attack. However, it doesn’t come: Paralysis grips Spook hard as the Ghostie is left entirely immobile. Bristling with all this energy and finding no other use for it, Athene simply releases it as a series of powerful wave that beat Spook over and over. By the end of the assault, the specter is left so weary that she drifts down to the ground, defeated.
