Default Phantasy Star series...who is into these RPGs?

    Hi guys,

I've been noticing occasional posts here about some of the various newer Phantasy Star games (such as the Phantasy Star Online games, and Phantasy Star Zero), but have any of you guys who played the newer games also played any of the classic Phantasy Star games, like the original Phantasy Star, Phantasy Star II, Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom, or Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium? I've now played the first 3 of the classic series (I'm not much of a fan of the original Phantasy Star at the moment, but someday that might change)?

But in curiousity, are the newer Phantasy Star games similar in gameplay to the classic games, or do they add in some elements the classic games lacked?

The new Phantasy Star games play nothing like the classic ones. It's a complete genre shift, from turn-based RPG to MMORPG. They feature similar themes and recurring enemies, but that's about it.

Though I haven't really been following the series that closely after PSO, so if there has been a new turn-based entry, I certainly missed it.

There hasn't been a turn-based entry since the SNES days, unfortunately.

Most of them have been hack-and-slash with the online element to it.
