Sailor Moon will be remade starting next summer into a new anime that's based much more closely on the manga story.
As someone who first encountered anime through subtitles of Sailor Moon, I'm pretty excited. According to the online interviews (there's a bunch just google it), this story will have grown up along with the fanbase--which means it'll probably be fast-paced, have quite a bit more blood 'n' guts, and a real tearjerker.
However I'm kind of skeptical. Do we really need a re-telling of Sailor Moon when most dedicated Moonies have already sought out/read the manga? The series, after all, is meant to cater to the older fanbase.
Hmm. What are your thoughts?
