    The Library of Grimoires

This great battlefield came to be one day simply because the grimoires were bored and wanted something to watch
it is an octagonal tower housing the magical tomes of the ages, and while you might approach the tomes you will never reach them due to some very slight and not at all alarming tampering with the space-time continuum(think endless staircase)
on top of this there have been many precautions setup to prevent magical leakage from the tomes, nevertheless the area is overloaded with magical energy that can cause strange things to happen
every 4 rounds or so there is a completely random effect that the ref can decide on including(but certainly not limited to) attack power doubled, space wraps around on itself, abilities change, reality breaking, ect.

    so what do you think?

    Round ONE
    TOX
    -5PP
We find ourselves inside the massive Library of Grimoire--a battle arena of strange happenstances and even stranger battlers. Jelibean Man, a former trainer turned newcomer, releases their first pokémon to the floor, a speedy, unnamed diglett. Ash0011, the challenger, releases his own pokémon that hovers a few feet off the ground--Slash, the scyther. Being the quicker of the two pokémon, Slash immediately starts the battle by poisoning Diglett with a nasty splash of toxic. Diglett winces as the toxins slowly burn her body before she summons a nasty sandstorm to... do nothing, because you're inside a building. Welp.
    -5PP
    THERE'S A SANDSTORM OUTSIDE
    -2PP
    -1HP
Not sand! Slash, perhaps too anxious over hearing the words "sand" and "storm" together in the same breath, thinks fast and summons a rain cloud to wash away the sand. Phew, I was afraid we'd be goners for a second there. Diglett, suffering poison's nasty bite, smacks at Slash with a quick dust cloud, irritating the bug's eyes just enough.

NOW IT'S RAINING; GOOD THING WE'RE INSIDE

With the attackers doing seemingly everything in their power not to attack one another, the final act of the first round is underway. Slash lies in wait (probably because he can't see very well) as Diglett stamps the floor and sends a quivering tremble throughout the library. I'm sure it would've hurt real bad if Slash was grounded. The scyther, still hovering a few feet off the ground hears his cue and bolts towards Diglett, dealing swift damage with his sharp blades!

IT LOOKS SO MISERABLE OUT THERE

The scyther gets into a defensive position as the unnamed diglett spits out a nasty poison of her own. Slash attempts to outmaneuver the sludge, but finds himself suffering it anyway as he quickly slashes at Diglett for light damage. Dodging doesn't work all the time, it would seem...

Slash lies in wait once more as Diglett readies her next attack. With the sand in his eyes, seeing just when it's going to happen is a bit difficult. Diglett puts on the cutest face she can muster, making Slash almost smitten. He remembers his trainers orders, however, and plops on the ground whilst closing his eyes (to get the sand out of them), revitalizing his spirits. However, once Diglett starts flirting sweetly in pokémon speak, all the cards are off the table. Feeling wonderfully healthy, he is now in love. Well, dang.

He is so done with her shit!

hmm forgot about the building classification… I mean the library is magic (and huge), either way slash let's go for an aerial ace spam to dodge status moves and deal damage (aerial ace is like the best with technician)

I will use Toxic to even the playing field
Then i will use Ancient Power to hopefully pack a punch while bumping up me stats
and finally i will use Rock Slide

Also i can't see anywhere that says that Aerial Ace causes attacks to miss so can i please have a quick run down on how aerial ace works and what attacks will not hit because of it

Attacks like Aerial Ace and Agility have been used in the anime to dodge attacks every now and again. But Aerial Ace didn't cause your attack to miss -- Scyther being part flying-type did. Flying is immune to ground, remember?

wait, even if an increased priority move is used? because that defeats the purpose of like 50+% of combos, sigh I wish there was a list of things each ref does, it would make this so much easier

either way hit diglett with three facades

Your combo was 3 attacks, thus the priority was -2. Then you added in Quick-attack, which brought it to -1. Not only that, but Diglett was using Rest, which starts almost immediately. It was much faster for Diglett to rest than it was for Slash to combine three attacks together into one super-attack.

well, yes but I belive you are the only ref that does that, most allow you to forego your other actions in order to combo damaging moves with quick moves to preempt an opponent, your way removes this in exchange for energy gain on turns used in the combo(does that mean I can do a combo and normal actions?) however your way also allows for a +4 priority attack so...
edit; protect is +4 priority itself, soo provided poke is faster said combo could preempt protect

1 - Every ref is different, Ash, you know this. I ref combo moves differently than everyone else because this is what I believe makes the most sense. It costs more energy to use moves in a combo, but you gain the excess energy lost back in the requisite actions anyway.
2 - The only moves that have higher priority than Protect and its clones are Pursuit (only when used against switching pokémon) and Helping Hand (which fails in single battles and is used on your allies).

yes but a combo of 3 extremespeeds would be a +4
and I know the refs have different styles but I thought there were established rules about combos (also I think this might be the first time I've had you as a ref)
