You step toward the ring of light, your pokemon companions following you. Once everyone is within the ring, the world around you disappears in a flash of white-hot light. You feel a sense of flight as you are whisked away from the cavern before you, and you soon find yourself on a familiar snowy white mountaintop.

This time, however, the blizzard encompassing the mountain is gone, leaving you with a calm winter's night. Only the light snow seems to be active at this time, with the moon overhead and tiny wisps of blown snow reflecting the starry skies above.

Your party takes a moment to compose yourselves before you decide on where to go. The cave entrance from whence you first entered the mountain is in plain sight, so traversing to the "back" of the mountain should be fairly easy.

It doesn't take long for you to get around the mountain, and before long you're at what you can only assume is the back end of the mountain, at which point you see a peculiar sight. A lone shack stands before you, seemingly weathered from either time, snow, or both. It seems intact from what you can tell, but the exterior doesn't make it look too protective from the climate.

At its doorstep, a lone lantern shines brightly.

As you approach the entrance of the shack, you examine the lantern. The lantern is a shade of dark purple, with a violet flame contained inside. you notice that the lamp has two arm-like appendages on it, and that's when you also notice that it also has eyes. And it's alive.



Suddenly, the Lampent leaps off of its hook and floats before you, blocking your path.

"An interesting answer, for sure, and a well-spoken one." Lampent says. "You are indeed worthy to speak with my master. You may proceed." He then moves to the side, allowing you to proceed through the doorway.

The interior of the cabin is about what you might have expected. Not a single light was on, and no light seemed to be coming through the windows despite the fluorescent moon above you. Because of this, you could not see any details of the interior except, strangely, the single trainer that stood in the center of the room.



"Sweet Arceus, I've been waiting a while. Then again, that's not really your fault, so I guess it can't be helped."

The trainer takes a step towards you, and an unearthly tremor is felt throughout your entire being. He takes another step, and you're forced onto your knees.

"Sorry about that, comes with the territory; and it helps make sure people are listening, you know? At any rate, I'm going to give you a quick rundown of what is and will be happening, so be sure to take notes."

A notebook and pen materialize out of nowhere, but some strange force prevents you from moving, so the two items just sit there tauntingly before disappearing into thin air.

"Oh, wait, I forgot, you don't need to take notes." The... thing... continues. "So some introductions are in order. My name is Apopheris, but that's not important for you to know. What you do need to know, however, is that I can either make or break your little adventure that you have going.

"You see, this..." Apopheris snaps his fingers, and a sphere composed of a metallic substance appears, shifting its appearance with every glance. After a few shifts, the sphere settles onto the form of a violet-colored pokeball, with a familiar symbol on its face. "...is what I can give you to achieve your goal."
Apopheris tosses the sphere your way, and you get a better look at what you now realize is...


A master ball.

"So here's what is going on. It has come to my attention that the only way you can capture the pokemon that you seek, manaphy, is with that special pokeball you call a 'master ball.' That is something that you need, and in exchange, I request something from you in exchange.
The master ball flies out of your reach, and he catches it in his hand. The master ball is then tossed into the air, where it transforms into a ring of light and darkness that begins to swirl around him in an a rather impressive manner.

"You see before you a being that seems to have a lot of power, yes? However, I am not omnipotent. There are many places where I can't go because of... reasons...
One such place happens to be Ivy Woods, which I understand to be your current destination.

"Convenient, yes? In Ivy Woods, there is a dear old 'friend' of mine that I have not visited for quite some time, and in that time I have sought a specific item from him that can help me for... a number of reasons. I request of you, in exchange for the master ball that is oh-so-important for your quest, that you go to my friend and request that he give that item to you. Once you finish up your little business in Ivy Woods, I will retrieve it from you, give you your master ball, and send you on your next destination. capiche?"

Before you outstretch your hand, you make one last contingency for the deal.

"Alright, alright, I promise this won't result in anything that would cause you to 'be sent to stop me,' alright? now do we have a deal?"


Suddenly, however, pinkieta bursts in and cries "Swear on the river styx!" She ends up being so close that she's almost touching noses with Apopheris. A death glare is exchanged that you would prefer not to be a part of.

Apopheris cracks a wry smile. "Ah, so you must be one of the chosen. If any other had dared to tread so close, they may have imploded, and yet you show no sign of pain. You're either very brave, very foolish, or both.
Apopheris then raises his hand, palm forward. "I. swear. on the river. styx. That I will not do anything that this trainer will need to be sent to cease." The first few words seem to be spit out of his mouth, as if the very action of speaking them disgusted him.

Apopheris then takes that same hand and stretches it towards you once more.

You shake Apopheris' hand, and for some reason you feel like you're making a deal with the devil. It's not like you're giving up your soul or anything, but it feels just as sinister.

"Alright, it's a deal." Apopheris declares. "So now I may tell you exactly what you may do. You will exit this cabin, and you will travel south towards Ivy Woods. In that area, you will locate the lake that dwells deep within. Head directly west of that lake, and a cave will open before you, and inside that cave is the pokemon you seek. Tell him that I sent you, and he will know what you're looking for. Once you acquire the item, you will leave Ivy Woods as soon as possible, and I will meet you at its borders. Understood?"

You depart from the cabin, and make your way down the mountain. Strangely enough, the snow of the mountainous area ends rather abruptly, giving way to a rocky landscape.
The rocky area ends soon enough, and you come across a forest. As you can assume, this would most likely be ivy woods.

There is a wall of trees in front of you, giving no clear sign of easy entry. There are few pokemon around you, but you can't make out any of their identities due to them being far away.

You head on into the forest, and the pathway leads you deep into the darker parts of the expanse of trees. With Pinkieta leading the way with her well-lit body, all you can see is the pathway ahead and the trees around you.

Suddenly, pinkieta comes to a stop, with the rest of you stopping with her.



"Pinkieta, why did you stop?" Frankie says. Pinkieta, however, says nothing for a short amount of time.



Finally, pinkieta turns around and says "I-it's nothing. My tail just feels a bit twitchy, is all."

A faint rustling in the trees around you can be heard. It might just be the wind...
