What's the best Dragon type attack?
What's the best Dragon type attack?
Claw, then breath. ALl the others suck.
Same with me.... Claw, then D-Breath. Why'd so many people vote for Dragon rage?
I voted for Dragonclaw, but what about Outrage? That attack is great, as long as you have a berry to cure confusion.
It is either D-Claw or D-Breath.
Outrage is good, but it can back fire in so many words.
Oh, yeah. Dragonclaw can do almost the same amount of damage w/o confusion.
Man, I wish I had another Dragonclaw.
BTW. Twister DOES have a 20% chance Flinch Effect. But Dragon Claw is the best. After STAB and with Dragon Fang. Outrage is basically 1 point short of a Special based Earthquake only Steel pokemon are resistant to. In that Respect, it is powerful. but Dragon Claw allows you more control.
Were is Dragon Fang? Dragon Claw rules!
Twister also does 2x damage on pokemon in the air. That doesn't make it good though. Dragon Claw is the best because you can't target outrage in 2vs2 and you can't switch out while using it.

I like Dragonbreath and Dragon Claw. Both are great, it depends on your team, the Pokemon using it, and even the situation, to determine which is actually better, in my opinion.
Dragon claw and breath are the best dragon moves.

dragonbeath is 30% PAR...
and w/only a 30BP stabbed difference ill take the paralysis over power... but dragon claw is good as well
Outrage is good in damage and thriftyness. It goes best with dragons like Rayquaza. And does anyone think that hyperbeam should have been a dragon move?
Dragonclaw. Hands down. It's the most powerful dragon attack without any bad setbacks. Dragonbreath is nice though for paralysis reasons, I always liked using Dragonbreath in G/S/C...It's just kind of been outdone by Dragonclaw
I use Dragonbreath on my Flygon... Paralysis seems to work well.
Dragonbreath is to Dragon Claw as Body Slam is to Return. Experience tells us that the 30% paralysis chance is much superior in most cases to a few extra points of base power. Not all cases; you have to carefully consider which is better, but more often than not the best option turns out to be Dragonbreath/Body Slam.
Dragon Rage is, in fact, a good attack. Just not for L100 pokémon. In low-level cups (bar Little Cup, where it is banned because it basically has a 99.6% chance to OHKO every legal pokémon) it is simply overwhelming, and having such a team without at least one Dragon Rager is quite frankly rather stupid.

Dragon Rage sucks. Look, Seismic Toss/Nightshade are so much better. Dragon Rage only does 40 damage. In Little Cup, it rocks. In any other situation, it sucks. It's like insisting that Sonic Boom is awesome.
Dragon Claw is the best, and here is why:
80 damage +
No side effects. +
{what is there NOT to like?}
Why Outrage ISN'T:
90 damage +
You MUST use it 2-3 turns. -
Confusion -
{It's just not as good. You can do almost the same amount of damage with Dragon Claw, w/o the bad stuff.}
Why Dragonbreath ISN'T:
60 damage -
Paralysis +
30% paralysis -
{30 is OK, but eh. The 30% isn't worth it to give up 30 points to Outrage, and 20 to DC}
Why Dragon Rage ISN'T:
40 damage -
Works the same no matter what +
10 PP -
Works the same against Dragons -
{All right, what's-your-face, listen to this: there is only 1 advantage to this attack: it does 40 damage to everyone, including Steel, the ONLY type with resistance against Dragons. If you're not fighting a Steel, you should just use DC or Outrage. Hell, even Dragonbreath. You would have to assume that the Dragon does NOT have any attacks that would at least do normal damage to the Steel Pokemon. Maybe like Latios with Ice Beam, DC, Toxic, and Psychic. All right, DR would be OK, but I would still rather use Psychic. You lose.}
I think that Dragon Claw is the best, after looking at this discussion. But I believe that Dragonbreath would be better on a slower pokemon, with the paralyzing chance it makes the lower attack worth it.
Well, DB is good for "Annoyer" Pokemon. Like...
Toxic
Dragonbreath
Spikes/similar move
Roar
Something like that. Where you have a good attack, which may cause paralysis. Choose whatever Pokemon you want to fit the moveset....like, I dunno. LoL...
why would you want toxic and dragonbreath? ANYWAYS...
you guys should listen to impereon... not only did impereon say dragonbreath was better if you were to pair say breath against claw only... but impereon is very very intelligent on all subjects of this, i would definitely take impereons word
ANYWAY, AS I WAS ****ING SAYING BEFORE I WAS SO ****ING RUDELY INTERRUPTED BY FAG**** INTERNET EXPLORER FREEZE AS IT ALWAYS ****ING DOES RIGHT AS I AM FINISHING UP ANY BIG POSTS.
G_m, be quiet you yesman. I am knowledgable, and I say differently, but certainly you wouldn't agree with me. =P
Dragonbreath/Dragon Claw are NOT akin to Body Slam/Return. Why? Body Slam still has acceptable power. 85 Base is still enough to do plenty of damage with STAB and a decent Attack rating, and the 17-point drop in power is worth the 30% PAR. In the case of Dragonbreath, 60 Base is extremely weak. Even with STAB, that's only 90 "Base" damage, compared to Dragon Claw's Drill Peck-type damage of 120. Dragon Claw itself barely reaches that "minimum acceptable power" for your everyday damaging attacks, and being the most powerful of Dragon anyway. Of course, both are pretty much too weak to use on any non-Dragon because Dragon isn't a type that can really be used to cover your weaknesses, and other, more powerful attacks exist. Altaria, while not having the stats that reflect something to be used as an attacker, can at least use Dragon Claw to deal some decent damage. It has respectable power with STAB and only Steel resists it (and Altaria can Flamethrower/Fire Blast). On the others, Dragon Claw can make a nice "default" attack to use to harm opponents or something as a reliable backup. Dragonbreath's only real use is for PAR, since even with STAB it is weak. But even Altaria needs the power of Dragon Claw to give it some power to deal real damage, and it's useless on the others. Secret Power or something can be used on those guys if you want the PAR, since every other Dragon carries a higher Attack than Special Attack anyway (not including Rayquaza here, folks).
I should clarify myself better, but I'm getting tired of typing that up (again, at that =\). The only anything I would even think about using DB on is a Kingdra, but I'd just use a Dragon Dance-based set for it anyway if I used it...

-_- im not a yesman... NO, anyways i was just telling people to listen to impereon yeah your knowledgable congratulations... anyways, 90/120 isnt that bad, i agree with mostly what you say about dragon claw and whatnot... but in the case of all the dragon attax generally id say breath>claw but it all depends on the scenario... -_- you cant just go around asking WICH IS BETTER... because it all depends in many cases dragonbreath would be the better choice in many cases it would be claw, just opinions... anyways... im not necesarily disagreeing...
edit: meh had to italicize that... again like you said good for some steady dmg
It was very difficult for me to decide on which one was better (the Claw or the Breath). I chose Dragon Claw because Dragon-types tend to be more sweeper-oriented in my opinion.
"If you vote, you can't complain."
Personally I've always liked dragon breath or twister. I know they're less powerful but I like to be a nuisance in battle with stuff like confusion, flinching, hitting flying pokemon etc... Heh... imagine hitting a pokemon when it flies up for double damage then protecting as it comes down... that's fun.If I was going for sweeper moves I'd use dragon claw tho, of course.

Dragon claw and dragonbreath. I think that thre should have been a dark type gym
I just remembered one downside to Dragon Claw (I don't know if it aplies to Outrage)- it's affected by rough skin, etc. That's a major downer in some situations.

I'd prefer Thunder to Twister - 480 base when hitting a flying pokemon using fly, isn't it? I don't know really. Lol, thats a bit off topic....
I just went for Dragon Claw, because it's very reliable, but Dragonbreath is very nice for a slow pokemon ^_^
this aplies to outrange too, but this isn't an issue because rough skin is very rare (2 pokemon i think)Originally posted by Nace

DB and DC are the best
As this duder aid, the fact that Dragon Claw is affected by Rough Skin is negligable. However, that means it sets off Static/Flame Body/Effect Spore as well.
