Default [Elite Battle] Prodigy versus ASHarris, Referee: Charizard04621

    Elite Battle

    Pokemon 3 vs. 3
    DQ Standard (with leniency)
Rotation ASHarris sends first, Prodigy attacks first. You know, whatever.
Stakes The Ragnarök Medallion and one of the remaining Gym Leader positions.
    Damage Caps are off
    Arena The Theater at Epidauros

"Theatre, Epidaurus, built during the last quarter of the fourth century B.C....The harmony of its cavea, the way it 'sits' in the landscape with the semicircle hollowed out of the side of the hill, and the quality of its acoustics make the Epidaurus theatre one of the great architectural achievements of the fourth century. The circular orchestra provides the link with the stage buildings."

—Henri Stierlin. Comprende l'Architecture universelle. p62.

Click here and here for historic information and photos.

The arena consists of the stage, the orchestra, and the entire house (all of the seats in the stadium).

The whole structure is very old, and only some of it has been restored. Therefore, bits and pieces can collapse or crumble, which could be a problem if you're standing on or under them.

Battles always take place at dusk in this arena.

The challenged Elite gets to set the rules, not the challenger. And I don't want to attack first. So nyah.

Otherwise the rules you set are fine.

    I'm picky.

    I choose Fantasma, my Misdreavus.

Sorry about the delay, but I'm ready for battle now. Va'szlain the male Steelix will answer the call and face off with your phantom.

Fortunately, your powerful defensive type renders you practically impervious to Fantasma's direct attacks, but her arsenal of special attacks keeps her dangerous. Open with Taunt to dissuade Fantasma from using them, then attack with two billowing clouds of Dragonbreath. If she wanders close enough without mirror images to back her up, Crunch down on her instead. Important: if she protects herself from, gets over, or is otherwise unaffected by your taunting, under no circumstances should you allow her to get off any sound-based attacks. Drown her out with a Roar or a Screech before she can open her mouth.

So, a few days after I post my Misdreavus, Cyrus has his Steelix bred and evolves the hatchling into a Steelix. Immediately after the new Steelix is ready, he sells it to you. You get it approved and then post here. Wow. I know ASB can't perfectly model the animé, but as far as time lapse goes you're kinda pushing it, don't you think? The battle hasn't started, but the battle preparations have. So that shouldn't be allowed (under the same standards that a Pokémon cannot evolve or learn a new sig move in a battle, even if it has evolved or learned a new move outside of the match). But whatever. We don't officially have a rule against it, so I can't really do anything right now except point it out and shake my finger.

    Anyway...

Okay, Fantasma. Let's do this. Focus on maintaining a Calm Mind. Then Spite Va'szlain's Dragonbreath. After that, blast him with a Confuse Ray.

If you do end up being taunted by your opponent, however, replace whichever attack(s) you wish with Facade.

    Calm Mind, Spite, Confuse Ray

    ~Facade if taunted

    Pre-battle:

ASHarris's wily banshee lies silently in wait, as an evening breeze ripples her ghostly form. What little light is left in the dusk sky casts an eerie glow on her red necklace, which in the darkness seems enchanted, even cursed. A great snake of gigantic proportions emerges to face her, arcing his metallic neck and flashing her a look that threatens destruction. Both seem to share the same malevolence towards each other, as if the shadows of the ancient theater and its melancholy air instilled in their hearts a form of hatred that will drive them to seek the other's fall.

    Let the battle begin.

    Fantasma: 100%, energy(100%)
    Va'szlain: 100%, energy(100%)

    Round 1

Fantasma closes her eyes, drawing in a breath of the evil air... She is up against an opponent of great magnitude; his size mirrors the threat he poses. She must focus. It is a difficult task, for Va'szlain throws sharp insults at the Misdreavus in an effort to force her into neglecting her defensive maneuvers. Visible lines of sweat streak the ghost's forehead as she tries to resist the urge to go into complete offense. But something in the back of her mind - perhaps it was the state of focus she was attempting to achieve - tells her that in order to win, she must not be rash.

The metallic beast utters a low, menacing roar in irritation. He pauses a moment to consider his trainer's orders. Which option should he take? He is vulnerable to Fantasma now, but she opts to wait. She has been told to curse a specific action, and she must see it before she may do so. Va'szlain makes up his mind, exposing Fantasma to scorching turquoise dragon flame. The ghost squeals in pain, but she will have her revenge. Floating over to the Steelix, she wraps her ghostly essence around his head and proceeds to sap his strength. Binding a curse to the draconic flame, she ensures that if he uses it again soon, he will pay...

But coming into the monster's melee range proves to be a costly mistake. Fantasma shoots him with an expanding ray of red light that will warp his mind and create illusions of things that aren't there... This does not stop Va'szlain from sinking his heavy jaw into the body of the ghost to inject dark energy into her system. Fantasma howls in obvious pain; being one of the more unfortunate ghosts that does not phase instinctively unless instructed to do so, she was not prepared for that blow.

    Fantasma: 73%, energy(84%)
    Va'szlain: 100%, hallucinating, energy(78%)

Naturally I'm not going to disqualify you, since I get nothing out of all this unless I see it through to the end and I intentionally set the DQ enforcement level to lenient to improve the chances that I would. That being said, it would be nice if you posted your attacks sooner rather than later.

For someone who made me wait eight days so that he could get a friend to make a new Pokémon for him, it seems rather snotty to chastise me after seven. That's especially so considering that I've actually been busy rather than going out of my and your way to gain some illegitimate match.

Nonetheless, I apologize for the unannounced wait.

Good job, Fantasma. Whatever was lacking in your strategy is entirely my own fault. Double Team for the obvious desired effect. Then hit him with two Thunderbolts. If at any time after your Double Team he comes close to Crunch down on you again, however, take the time to move in whatever direction necessary to avoid a second hit.

Hold your ground and swing three Iron Tails, the first with a sweeping horizontal arc so that it passes through all of Fantasma's mirror images and the remaining two in whatever way you think will maximize damage.

    Fantasma: 73%, energy(84%)
    Va'szlain: 100%, hallucinating, energy(78%)

    Round 2

Fantasma knows that she cannot accomplish this dreadful task alone. She calls upon the aid of two others, perfect mirror images of herself. Va'szlain, lashing out with his glinting tail, slams into what he thinks is Fantasma; a shattering sound is heard, and the ghost explodes into many bloody pieces.

Then, oddly, Fantasma and two more banshees that look just like her appear slightly behind him to his right. Va'szlain blinks, then decides he'll act first, think later. Things aren't making much sense right now, anyway. So he swings his massive tail horizontally, wiping out a clone, catching Fantasma in the middle, and propelling her into her last mirror image. That's the second time he thinks he's gotten her. He hopes that he isn't imagining whatever he was thinking before.

Suddenly, though, the Misdreavus vanishes in a puff of pink smoke. A strange squelching noise comes from behind him to his right, so Va'szlain turns around to see what it is. It appears to be a giant purple balloon crafted in the shape of Fantasma. Bewildered now, he acts on instinct, bringing down his tail upon the balloon... But instead of popping, it hardens into a flat, brown substance that shoots up dust as he crushes it... The ground??? Meanwhile, the real Fantasma flushes with irritation. The delirious Va'szlain has just shrugged off both her electrical assaults. Perhaps it is because she is not an overpowered rat belonging to an idiot trainer, shown on telivision to accomplish impossible things, such as affect Ground types with electricity.

    Fantasma: 61%, energy(71%)
    Va'szlain: 100%, hallucinating, energy(63%)

Taunt her again (Thunderbolt?), then create a medium Substitute and loose a Dragonbreath. Only use Dragonbreath after you've created a Substitute, so if Substitute gets pushed back it gets priority over attacking. If she tries to taunt or swagger you, Taunt her back, and drown her out with Roar if you need to.

    Holy ****.

I thought Steelix was Steel/Rock. Shows how much of an idiot I can be. I guess I need to double check myself on just about everything.

Attacks will be posted later this afternoon/evening, if I don't commit suicide in attempt to help rid the world of stupidity. I just wanted to pop in now to publicly criticize myself.

Taunt Va'szlain, making sure that you are out of reach )floating up would be a good idea, maybe). Then use your Secret Power. If you feel comfortable energy-wise, throw a Psybeam at him too.

    Fantasma: 61%, energy(71%)

    Round 3

Fantasma jeers at Va'szlain, telling him that despite her going easy on him with noneffective attacks, his troubles in hitting her is pathetic. The Steelix roars in fury, but he can't seem to find the banshee anywhere. She's disappeared! The noisy cackling and insults continue; Va'szlain's eyes flash dangerously.

Then colors become inverted. Va'slzain sees dancing ghosts everywhere. While they flash bright orange, the dark sky is now neon green. The Steelix does not like the changed color scheme at all; it makes him dizzy. But there's really nothing he can do about it. Where is that Misdreavus? He has a mind to crush her right away... A burst of light explodes upon him, another uncomfortable bright flash in the land of uncomfortable bright flashes.

Suddenly things become clear to Va'szlain. The arena returns to normal, and Fantasma is right before him. For a moment as the bright, multicolored beam lances towards him, he dreads that things are not back to normal after all, but then the colors fade and everything is fine. He dispatches life energy into a massive Steelix duplicate, then fades into invisibility.

    Fantasma: 61%, energy(58%)
    Va'szlain: 64%, Substitute(25%), energy(53%)

You're wasting my time. I disqualify you and claim Y1 and a catch/evo. I will win a badge elsewhere.
