Default Does Pokemon have spinoff potential?

Yeah. I mean, it's already got several seasons, but I know what you're thinking, you want spinoffs of Pokemon without Ash and Pikachu in them. Well, yes, let's give it a whirl.

Here's my ideas for some spinoffs.

    1. "Lorelei: Nice As Ice"

Finally we can do a series about the coolest, sexiest, fun loving Pokemon trainer, Lorelei. See her hop from the Orange Isles to Johto, to Hoenn and back. And we might see her in a swimsuit, too, phwoar!

    2. "Jennies"

(sings) "Bad Rockets, Bad Rockets, what you gonna do? What you gonna do when Jenny comes for you?"

    3. "Pokemon: The Sakura Saga"

Finally, a series devoted to Sakura and her Eevee (now an Espeon).

    4. "Pokemon: Tales From The Orange Isles"

Another series with long running staying power. See stuff like, what happened after Team Rocket and Meowth left a certain island with that Meowth cult, see Lorelei tour the Orange Isles and do some great speechs, etc. and what the Orange Crew does on their day off and more.

    5. "PKMN Center"

An "RPA" type reality drama series. (Note: Rated PG-13 for Pokemon Medical Procedures.)

    6. "Dances With 'Trodes: The Musical"

The first musical animated Pokemon special, based loosely upon "The Underground Roundup" episode of Pokemon.

First things first, there needs to be a series that only focuses on Pokemon, with the humans either not in the series, or as sub-characters. Make it less of a continuing story and more of individual Pokemon adventures, like the Kirby cartoon. I think a Western company should assist with the development of the actual cartoon, not just localization. Another big idea I have is to make a CG series of Pokemon. That would allow for possibly more realism and cooler special effects than the existing anime style.

I'd like a series on "The secret lives of Pokemon", showing them in their natural habitats. I would love to see an episode that used my Machoke ideas, or an ep about Houndour using strategies to hunt (off-screen killing, been done in cartoons for years). They could even have Pokemon who don't normally live in the wild be with their trainers, but it focuses on the Pokemon's thoughts and feelings (like my fic but less brutal and sad).

Though humans would not be present/not be the focus, I'd like this series to be more serious and not like those goofy Pikachu shorts. But I doubt this would ever happen.

There already are spinoffs. They're called the Hoso Specials.

When you guys talk about Pokemon-only stuff, do you mean stuff like the Pikachu the Movies, or documentary-type stuff?

I just watched an awesome documentary on wolves and coyoties (sp) of northern Canada. I kept imagining the wolves being replaced by Absol, and the coyoties being replaced by Eevee.

Anyways, I would love to see Pokemon documentaries!

Yeah Hoso is a spin off, the Jenny idea is funny.
And isn't the Riakou epi also a spinoff?
    the Sakura idea is good.
The Meowth cult one prolly wouldn't last long though.
I don't know In don't think there is going to be another epi
like Slowkings day which is only 5-8 minutes long.

I think the term spin-off is used to denote an on-going series; the stand-alone episodes and specials aren't so much spin-offs as they are asides.

I especially enjoy the prospect of seeing pokémon documentaries - that would be incredibly interesting, and would finally give people such as myself an opportunity to find out more information about the species of pokémon, rather than just the pokédex entries or the habits of individuals in pokémon battles. We're led to believe that the information for such documentaries exists in the pokémon world through the reports, as well as the very occupations, of the various professors - so to find out what that information is would be intensely interesting.

    Default Okay!

How about a non 4Kids Pokemon spinoff.

    Some titles:

    1. For ESPN:

EA Sports Pokemon Matchup. (we get a bunch of people to preview this week's coming matches and local Pokemon stuff. Where else would you know when say, Bloomingvale's holding another Sunflora Festival, Princess Day (with Kids' Day after that), etc.)

    2. Pardon The Interruption Presented By Devon Corporation

Professor Felina Ivy and Delia Ketchum join forces to yak on about Pokemon and other stuff. (Based upon a successful ESPN Original Entertainment show.)

    3. PBA Jigglypuff Bowling.

The only televised sport where you use Jigglypuff as the bowling ball!

    4. Casey's Week In PokeBaseball Today

Casey and Meganium (or used to be Bayleef) preview upcoming MLPB (Major League Pokemon Baseball) games and other baseball stuff.

    5. (you'll have to make up a title for this)

Hint: It's a bit like Cold Pizza on ESPN 2. Oh and the hosts are:

Delia Ketchum, Flannery, Sabrina, Liza and Tate and Wattson (he does the video games and electronic gear stuff.)

Yeah, non-human spin-offs all the way! Although for some reason I can't picture Eevee as Coyotes... O.o

I think a good one would be to star Prof. Oak's lab. It could have episodes strarring humans (Oak, Tracey, Delia, Gary's Sister etc.), and it could also have pokemon-based episodes about the pokemon at Oak's lab. He has a ton of 'em, so why not tell stories about them too? And we could even get to see Ash's old pokemon. ^^

    Default BTW...

...what do you think of my bowling spinoff idea (see above) with Jigglypuff as the bowling ball?

And what would Jigglypuff say to you or me about having to put up with being a bowling ball?

Default Does Pokemon have spinoff potential?

There's one Pokemon spinoff that I've always dreamed about, so I guess I should mention it once again. ^^

I'd love to see Jessie, James and Meowth in their own show. It could run parallel to the main series, and involve the Rockets being assigned to various other one- or two-episode missions. It would be light-hearted, quirky and funny - but not just brainless slapstick (although you gotta have each mission end with the customary blasting off, as ever). I'd like to see more funny writing, and original characterisation to match the unique Rockets themselves. We could learn more about their backstories (especially Jessie's), and Butch and Cassidy could be regular characters as well, so that their ongoing rivalry could be explained and continued. I'd like to see an episode, for example, where the four Rockets were ordered to put aside their differences and work together. Famous faces from the past could resurface, like Meowsie, Jessiebelle or James's disturbed parents. And, if there had to be a more serious/dramatic element, we could learn more about Jessie's mother and what happened to her.

It'll never happen, and I'd probably be about the only person who'd want it to, but I can always dream....
