    Default Really Quick Torkoal Question

Is Overheat acceptable on Torkoal if it's her only special move? I was thinking Body Slam, Overheat, Curse, Attract (Attract being an optional move, if there are any suggestions I'll take them. Maybe Toxic...)

Anywho, post your opinion, I'd really appreciate it.

Overheat is often used when you want to neglect Special Attack effort on a fire type. Like the old standard Blaziken and to a lesser extent, Dragon Dance Charizard. I say go for it. But you may want another physical attack on Torkoal, otherwise Curse seems to be a waste. Toxic won't work on that set either, due to Body Slam's paralysis chance. But #1ChanseyFan will be in here with advise, or I'll eat your hat.

Torkoal can make a great Tank in many ways you just have to experiment with Movesets using Curse, Amnesia, and Rest.

    Torkoal@Leftovers
    Rest
    Amnesia
    Yawn/Toxic
    Flamethrower

    Torkoal@Leftovers
    Rest
    Curse
    Amnesia
    Body Slam

    Default Really Quick Torkoal Question

Overheat can work on Torkoal, although like Rudoku said, Overheat is usually used on fire-type physical sweeping Pokémon. Flamethrower, and sometimes Fire Blast are usually used on Torkoal, as Torkoal is a tank, and it is meant to stick around for awhile, so Overheat isn't too common on Torkoal, because after you use it, it isn't going to be very effective unless you switch out Torkoal, and you won't really want to be switching out a tank Pokémon after you charge up its defenses.

On Torkoal, you will definitely want Amnesia to help its not so wonderful Special Defense stat. You can use Curse, but if you use a Bold personality, and spread your EVs like this: 252 HP, 129 Special Defense, 129 Defense, then you can get by without Curse, Torkoal's natural defense stat is good enough, and it has enough HP. Amnesia is more important. A moveset like this will work well for Torkoal.

    Flamethrower/Fire Blast
    Amnesia
    Toxic/Yawn
    Rest
    @Leftovers.

In competitive battling, use Flamethrower/Fire Blast for attacking, Amnesia for Special Defense help, and Toxic or Yawn to encourage switching, so that you can sneak in a few Amnesias without taking hits while the opponent switches. You may want to use Toxic instead of Yawn if you are playing with the sleep clause, as this Torkoal is pretty well known, and people may let a Pokémon fall asleep on purpose if the sleep clause is in effect, to keep you from continually using Yawn so that you can get an Amnesia in while they are switching Pokémon.

    Default Really Quick Torkoal Question

One move worth thinking about for a Cursing Torkoal is Flail. By the time you have a few Curses up, it will likely be down in HP and its Flail will mean something. Could catch people off guard as well.

Good idea but I've been thinking something about that idea. If a Ghost Pokemon appears you'll need a Fire Attack to make use of STAB and hit the Ghost Pokemon. Flamethrower would be too weak because you're focusing on Flail for your power. Overheat would drop your much needed Special Attack needed for defeating the Ghost Pokemon. Fire Blast seems to be your best option on the Moveset for your idea. I can't decide on a last move, Rest and you'd lose all your power to Flail so the Curses only gave you Defence. Amnesia would help you even more in setting up Special Defence to survive when you're weak because Torkoal is slow and I don't know how long it can use Flail for and survive. Body Slam always has 30% chance to PRZ them then you would be going first with Flail.

    Default Really Quick Torkoal Question

Does anyone know the equation for Flail's power off the top of their head? Or at least how powerful it is at max and min HP?

I got this off one of Gabi's (Lady_Vulpix) Pokemon Help Pages so credit goes to her.

4.2% HP or Less = 200 base power
    4.2% to 10.4% = 150 base power
    10.4% to 20.8% = 100 base power
    20.8% to 35.4% = 80 base power
    35.4% to 68.8% = 40 base power
    68.8% to 100% = 20 base power

Nice! Well, I've chosen my 4th move. Thanks andyizcool and Gabi.

Personally, I prefer Amnesia over Curse. If you max out his defense, curse really isn't that much help. With a weakness to physical and special, unless you want him to be a physical wall, Amnesia is the better choice. But Overheat does work well with a cursing Torkoal. Rest is also an option, since unless they bring in a water, he can easily last the two turns of sleep. Can he get Sleep Talk? If so, maybe something like Body Slam/other physical move, Curse, Rest, Sleep Talk?

    Torkoal@Leftovers
    Rest
    Eruption
    Sleep Talk
    Body Slam/Amnesia

You need to get a Smeargle to breed both Eruption and Sleep Talk onto this Torkoal and it was tested out. It relies Torkoal on max HP so Eruption has 150 Base Power. So that's why you Rest and use Sleep Talk a lot. Amnesia is there for more Special Defence or Body Slam so you don't rely just on Eruption. This is an original Moveset and I think it's very good that my friend invented it.
