They've really teased me...all my faves are split between the versions! However, if you look, I noticed something interesting:

    Pokemon available in fire red:
    Ekans --> Arbok
    Oddish --> Gloom --> Vileplume --> Bellossom (RS)
    Psyduck --> Golduck
    Growlithe --> Arcanine
    Shellder --> Cloyster
    Elekid --> Electabuzz
    Scyther --> Scizor
    Wooper --> Quagsire (Col)
    Murkrow (Col)
    Qwilfish (Col)
    Delibird (Col)
    Skarmory (Col, RS)

    Out of those 22 Pokemon, 7 can be obtained in Ruby/Sapphire.

    Pokemon available in Leaf Green:
    Sandshrew --> Sandslash (RS)
    Vulpix --> Ninetales (RS)
    Bellsprout --> Weepinbell - Victreebel
    Slowpoke --> Slowbro --> Slowking
    Staryu --> Starmie (RS)
    Magby --> Magmar
    Pinsir (RS)
    Azurill --> Marill --> Azumarill (RS)
    Misdreavus (Col)
    Sneasel (Col)
    Remoraid --> Octillery (Col)
    Mantine (Col)

    Out of these 23 Pokemon, however, a 'staggering' 10 are available in Ruby/Sapphire.

    So really, if you get FR -OR- LG, and want one, I'd reccomend Fire Red, as you can fill your Pokedex up that little bit more.

    I think I may buy one...but I'm not sure. I wanted Sapphire as I was unfamilliar with the new Pokemon and wanted to see what they were like...and now I'm hooked :-/

    So I think, in the end, I'll probably buy Fire Red, if I buy one at all. I'll tell my friend's I won it in a competition :-/
    I was bored, so I marked the list of which pokemon can be got in Colosseum and RuSa.

    Also, where did you get 7 from for Fire Red? Did I miss a pair? With Fire Red, the only unobtainables I'll have are Magmar, Slowpoke and Bellsprout families. Good thing that I don't particularly like any of them very much. >.>; There's always union room, anyway. I wonder why the Red game corner is so much more expensive. IIRC, it was like that in RBY as well. Still, Porygon2 is sexy.

    You missed out Psyduck and Golduck are also in both Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. You could also say Scizor is in Pokemon Colosseum but that's 100% Male so you would never get Scyther. Scizor is also rare because it's on an Ecard and who buys those rip off things anyway?

    I picked it up today, and I have to say, I'm rather disappointed. I mean, I know it's a rehashed Red and Blue (or Green, whatever), but I was looking forward to a Red with a Ruby spin to it. It's not like that at all. I was hoping it'd be like in Gold and Silver, where things were different somehow. Or perhaps in Ruby where things were advanced. Running shoes, possibly? Nope. Nothing like that. It seems like a step backwards from RS. It's also annoying how it walks you through the ENTIRE game. The whole L+R thing. It's like it's Windows XP or something (in terms of being TOO user friendly)--Pokemon for Idiots.

    It seems to me as if I just payed $35 for a game I already have.

    Carbonite, you sure you got far enough? Because I got Leaf Green today and before you leave towards Mt. Moon out of Pewter, one of Oak's Aides is there and gives you the pair of Running Shoes, sent from the character's mother.

    But I honestly wish there was a way you could turn off the whole R+L button thing, it pisses me off whenever I accidently press it.

    You get the Running Shoes after defeating the first Gym...

    You can turn the help menu thing off by going to options, and then selecting L=R, so when you're in your PC, you can switch boxes by pressing L and R.

    You haven't gone that far yet... there are the islands, the running shoes are there, the new moves from RS are there... there are many added in things, it's a rehashed RB, but it does have many additions to it... it's not like you can judge a book just by the cover

    Yeah, you can not only catch RBY Pokemon but also GSC and you can trade over RS Pokes. But for Raikou, Entei and Suicune, you can only catch one of them: If you have choosen Bulbasaur you can catch Entei on one of the Islands, if Charmander is your Starter then Suicune and Squirtle you'll see Raikou.

    Your beast is on the islands? I was under the impression they were running around Kanto, as Lati@s was around Hoenn in RuSa. Can anyone else confirm this?

    Yes, they are running around in Kanto.
    In my Japanese FR I caught Raikou in Route 8. But like the Lati@s in R/S it has very bad IVs:

    HP: 15
    Att: 6
    Def: 0
    SA: 0
    SD: 0
    Sp: 0

    I think this is preset in the game.
    My Latios in Ruby has:

    HP: 12
    Att: 6
    Def: 0
    SA: 0
    SD: 0
    Sp: 0

    Except HP it is the same.

    I think my theory is correct that the Legendary Beast running in the wild on Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green has bad IVs just like the Lati@s in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire had Southern Island for a better IVs Lati@s as we all know. So if you want a better IVs Legendary Beast you'll need Pokemon Colosseum the game we all hate replaying.

    Yeah, I got the running shoes today.

    I think I'm just disappointed because I was looking forward to a RS-generation Red version, and it's a RBY-generation Red version, only this time it looks pretty.

    I still hate the tutorial things. The game treats me like I'm retarded. I mean, really; if you want to know how to battle read the manual or figure it out.

    Yeah, I know there's added things, and I'm looking forward to those, but I would like to have seen a newer game instead of the exact same game. I suppose I just kinda had my expectations someplace else.

    Hmmm yeah, I mean, what else could you have expected? It's a rehashed game... I don't quite understand what do you mean by a RS-generation Red and that it actually is a RBY-generation Red? From what I can tell, it's a RS-generation game... I don't see it in any other way... it has all the metagame improvements, such as EV cap, IV system change, added personalities, genders, and with respect with the gameplay it includes new graphics, new sound, new pokemon, new moves... the only exception is that there's no weather (at least not in the field) and there's only 151 pokemon until you defeat the elite4. Then you get access (I think it's even earlier) to 7 new islands, with johto pkmn, a new high-leveled E4, and then you get to trade with RS and colosseum and get 386 pkmn in both series. You can't tell it's RBY all over again-yes, it's the same storyline at the begining, but it has many additions to the original game that make it worthwhile... to see the actual difference, you must be patient... as I said, you can't judge a book just by it's cover...

    EDIT: About the user-friendly interface: remember it's designed to teach new players and get them into the game... it's a nice addition, that can be taken off btw...

    There are many new things. The Fame Checker,Wireless Battles,new Mini-Games,and the new Islands. Plus you can get all the pokemon. I have Fire/Red in English and it rocks.

    You know how, in Gold and Silver, when you went to Kanto and things were different? I wanted that. That's what I mean by "generation." The time-frame for FR is the same as Red.

    Maybe it's just me, but I really do have a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that this ISN'T a pretty-looking Red version. I keep forgetting things like there being Dark Pokemon or that Magnemite is Steel. To me, it's like it's 1998 again and there's only 150 Pokemon.

    Yeah, I turned off the LR help function, but I think the game is still slapping me in the face with "objectives." This game insults my intelligence.

    You know, if I had ONLY played RS and FR I would probably find this game 1,000 times better, but since I've been around for 6 years it's like it's the same game over again. I am finding it more enjoyable as I go along, but still. I liked the concept of FR/LG bringing back fond memories (like GSC did) rather than it bringing me the exact same game.

    Perhaps I set my expectations too high.

    The GSC version of Kanto sucked. All of the places were smaller,and no Safari Zone. IT WAS TEH GAY. I hated the GSC Kanto.

    Yet again, you have to be patient. You haven't gone that far. By the time you discover all the new things, it'll feel different... yes, it's almost the same game (there are a few exceptions, with movesets and such) but the "different" kanto you want so much, will come eventually, just keep playing... and it looks way prettier to me; some pkmn look awful in RB sprites... but there's also blastoise, who looked decent in RB and looks horrible in FRGL. I think it's not like you set your expectations too high, it's just you set them somewhere else...

    so guys, how fare have you got in the game??

    Yeah, the GSC version of Kanto pretty much sucked, but I enjoyed the fact that things had changed in 3 years.

    Look at it this way.

    Red/Blue/Yellow + Gold/Silver/Crystal = Different dimention from the GBA games. Their not even on the same level, which is why we get a kanto in the time of honen unstead of johto.

    Is Pokemon FR/LG worth importing from USA at Ł25.99 that'll take a week to get to the UK by airmail? Or should I wait until 1st October where Pokemon FR/LG will be in shops at Ł29.99/Ł34.99 or online at Ł24.99? I keep thinking importing it would be a good idea but I'm not sure if the game box would mess up in the post or anything. I'm playing Pokemon Sapphire at the moment and breeding some FR/LG Pokemon I already got off someone else. Doing that breeding could last me until 1st October where I'll be able to get Pokemon FR/LG and National Dex on my Pokemon Sapphire.

    You'll be getting the same game anyway, so why not? There's a chance that you may not be able to use the Union room with UK carts (Like how it is with Japan/US carts), though.

    That was one of the main things on my mind. I don't want Pokemon LG just for the remake old world and stuff I need it for Wireless Battling. I thought the frequency of the waves given off by the Wireless Adaptor might change for the UK Version. Nothing can be sure so maybe I should just wait for the UK Pokemon LG because I have breeding on Pokemon Sapphire to do and a lot of school work.

    Just out of curiosity....how is MG going to work in the UK? Will these wonder spots be set up in Toys 'R' Us or other such places? Maybe they'll set one up at the Metro Center in Newcastle (ish)....because we don't even HAVE a Pokemoncenter, and even if we did, it'd be in London. Thanks, I want to drive 5 hours to get a Berry.....:-/

    Jus wondering.

    Using Mystery Gift at a Wonder Spot will give you one of the rare Island Tickets. It's not anything like Mystery Gift on Pokemon GSC where you do it with your friends and get bad items. I don't think the UK has an events planned yet but keep on the look out because we had that Eon Ticket Event.

    I heard you could get the Tickets from Nintendo Officials, but I also heard Items, Berries and Eggs could be traded over. Maybe this was not accurate news.

    Have you noticed that you get those Mystery Gifts in a City with a Normal Type Arena? In GSC, Goldenrod City and RS, Petalburg City, but where's the Mystery Gift in FR/LG?

    Just go into any PokeMart and answer the Questionnaire on the desk with the message, "LINK TOGETHER WITH ALL". That unlocks Mystery Gift for Pokemon FR/LG on the main menu when you start the game.

    That's so unfair ;.;

    I'll never get the chance to get those tickets then. It's bad enough that the online store doesn't send merchandise over here... I still can't get the plushies and the blue gbasp... but oh well...

    If you get Deoxys via Cheating Device (Hence Gameshark/Action Replay), Colosseum will detect it wasn't obtained "legally", and won't let you use or transfer it. I reckon there's a code to bypass this restriction, but I don't know it.

    All in all, only Deoxys and Mew are subjected to this restriction. Maybe Jirachi and Celebi, but I dunno.

    ohhh I see... I can't believe it, they will make them available only by Mistery Gift and don't let us have it by GS/AR by a restriction... gee...

    Why not just cheat on Pokemon FR/LG to get the Tickets or Warp to the Islands. That way you can catch Deoxys legally and use it on Pokemon Colosseum if you really want to.

    Yeah, didn't thought of that... it's not that I wanna use Deoxys, it's mostly to complete my Pokédex :p

    Is it just me, or was this game kinda poorly translated in some spots? For example, there's people who will have question marks at the end of sentences that aren't questions, they'll use past tense when they aren't supposed to...there were just a lot of things that it seemed like they sloppily did.

    I am tearing this game apart in these posts. I really don't mean to, I think it's just that I am noticing the bad things more than the good. I enjoyed the new islands, though.

    Actually, E-Card support was completely pulled from the US/PAL Colosseum games. So, no Scizor. . No E-Card support in FrLg, thank god.

    Maybe they will spread the Joy Spots all over the place, as it seems a lot easier than the PCNY thing.

    Who knows, Australia might get one (Crosses Fingers)

    I wonder if the joyspots will work like the berry glitch fixer in the UK?

    In the Uk, I don't think you could go to stores to get the Berry Glitch Fixed. You had to send your cartridge to Nintendo, who would fix it and put a shiny Zigzagoon on your team if you had 5 members.

    Maybe you'll do the same with the tickets in the Uk?

    Pressing buttons such as A+Up etc. dont work, they are just false rumours.

    Throwing Bait or Rocks will increse your chance of capture in Safari Zone.
    Some Pokémon are naturally more difficult to capture, a certain number assigned to each species has affects the capture formula.
