In what looks like the middle of no where, a small 1 vs. 1 battle between two unevolved Pokemon was taking place. On one side was an energetic Pichu who was feeling literally charged and ready for battle. His opponent was an equally enthusiastic Torchic.

Thorne started off by discharging electricity from his cheeks, creating two blue lightning bolts that crackled toward his opponent. The Torchic, aptly named Fire Dude, glowed red as if to deflect this Shock Wave back onto the opponent. However, the attack was not a Shock Wave, but a Thunder Wave. The counterattack failed and Fire Dude felt her entire body stiffen as the attack hit her.

Now with his opponent’s movement crippled, Thorne raced around the arena until he was a mere yellow blur. The Torchic had no intent on attacking him yet. He looked up towards the sky, releasing some of his innate fire energy into the atmosphere. The few clouds in the sky suddenly vanished and the sunlight poured brightly onto the battlefield.

Sunlight meant boosted fire attacks and Thorne certainly didn’t want that, so he countered with some rainy weather. However, it took a lot of energy to change the weather back and even more to make rain clouds appear. When he had finished, Fire Dude had already launched a powerful Fire Blast at him and the rain barely had time to weaken the attack.

Using his super speed to his advantage, Thorne used a mysterious telekinetic force to gather as much water as he could. Fire Dude wasn’t liking this rainy weather at all, so using a good chunk of her energy, she released a beam of fire energy into the sky. The clouds had just stopped raining when a small wave of water collided into the Torchic, leaving her drenched even as the sun came out.

Fire Dude shook herself dry then went for a Mega Punch. It’s weird that something with no arms can execute a punch, so the little chick used her feet as fists. But she suddenly stopped as her muscles froze up and she fell flat on her face. Thorne giggled, then kicked some mud leftover from the rain into Fire Dude’s face. The Torchic immediately got up and tried to clear her vision, but despite the effort, it was still blurred.

Suddenly, she felt a bolt of lightning knock her off her feet. Thorne giggled some more as he watched his opponent try to find him through her impaired vision. However, he did not expect her to spin around blindly shooting flames everywhere. He had a hard time dodging them and eventually got his tail scorched.

Thorne got off to another speedy start this round as he ran around in a circle while trailing 4 copies of himself. Fire Dude used this opportunity to sharpen her concentration and hopefully lessen the chances of becoming fully paralyzed. As she did, a faint blue aura emanated from her body.

The five Pichus turned to the Torchic and started spouting a bunch of insults, but the Torchic ignored them as she was already underground. Thorne sighed. Dig is so annoying.

The Pichu waited for his opponent to pop up and his cheeks crackled in preparation for a Thunderbolt. Just then, the ground behind Thorne shifted as the Torchic lept up and unleashed a powerful Flamethrower. It hit one of the Pichus, unfortunately, it was merely an illusion. Thorne smiled at this as he struck the chick with his electric attack.

Fire Dude decided she wasn’t liking how this battle was progressing, so she sat down, closed her eyes, and went to sleep. Thorne wasn’t going to let the Torchic just heal up like that, so he quickly spun himself into a ball and smacked into his opponent for light damage.

The Torchic took a deep breath and gave a loud Snore. The sound waves hit the rolling Pichu, destroying his clones. Meanwhile, Thorne collided into the Torchic again, dealing increased damage this turn.

The Pichu did a quick turn just then and smacked into the Torchic once again. This was powerful enough to wake Fire Dude from her slumber. She remembered what she was supposed to do once she was awake and jumped into one of the holes she made the round before. Thorne tried to watch out for this sneak attack but was ambushed when the chick popped up from behind and slammed into him.

The rolling ball of yellow headed toward Fire Dude once more. But the Torchic spewed out a slender stream of flames that encircled the Pichu, trapping it in place. Unable to roll any further, Thorne stopped and ran around panicking as his fur caught on fire. He rolled once more, but this time to extinguish the flames.

Fire Dude smirked, then took a deep breath and unleashed a large blast of fire that was enhanced by the sun. It was a direct hit and the Pichu was once again engulfed in scorching hot flames. Now Thorne was charred gray and literally feeling steamed. He wanted to hit the chick back, but his next action was more passive. Thorne closed his eyes and prayed for a small miracle. This prayer will soon be answered in the next round.

Next, Thorne was thoroughly tired of the sun, so he danced around once more to call the rainclouds back and create another downpour to drench the arena. Much to the Pichu’s annoyance, the Torchic closed his eyes and went into a deep sleep, regaining most of her health back.

The slumbering Torchic let out a loud Snore that made Thorne wince before he charged up a huge lightning attack that arced high across the arena. It came back down with a deafening crack and struck the Torchic hard enough to wake her up. Meanwhile, a ray of golden light appeared through the clouds to bask the Pichu in a warm glow. The light quickly faded and suddenly, Thorne was feeling much healthier.

Now the Pichu launched another fierce Thunder attack that was even more painful to the Torchic now that it was fully awake. The Torchic mumbled something, but nothing happened.

And nothing happened in the next turn when the Torchic continued to mumble and Thorne, not being one of the special Pichus from SSBM, did nothing as well.

Fire Dude was not liking the current weather, so she tried to change it to something mote advantageous. But her paralysis made her actions slower, so Thorne has plenty of time to collect the water in the holes and send thee foot tall wave crashing into her. For a small Pokemon like Torchic, three feet was pretty big. Finally, she managed to bring out the sun and dry herself off.

With his previous speed boosts, Thorne was able to quickly cover the distance between them and give the chick a smooch on the beak. Fire Dude became slightly embarrassed, but also confused. She ran around in disoriented circles, unable to perform her attack for the moment. Thorne simply laughed.

The Pichu charged up a Thunderbolt, but at that moment, Fire Dude escaped underground. Her temporary lapse of sanity was due to the Focus Energy she had used earlier. She burrowed under Thorne and lunged upwards, knocking him over. But her confusion still hadn’t faded away.

The sunny weather was shortlived as Thorne summoned the rain once again. It took a lot more energy to change the weather this time, mainly because the sun was already very intense. When the Pichu looked across the field, he saw a hole where the Torchic should have been.

Listening to his trainer, Thorne dashed towards the hole and jumped in. Fire Dude, hoping to regain energy in solitude, was surprised to see the Pichu jump down. Thorne clap his hands and cheered. This played with Fire Dude’s mind, making her think that simply relaxing was a great way to win approval.

Fire Dude relaxed again the next turn as water pooled around their feet. Thorne charged up a Thunderbolt and released it, but the confined space as well as Thorne’s wet fur made the electric attack hurt him as well. Meanwhile, the Torchic was blown out of the hole, slightly crisped. But Thorne was still underground, covered in a layer of mud and water.

Thorne wasn’t too comfortable being all wet and muddy, but his trainer told him to relax where he was for the entire round, so he had to obey. This basically gave the Torchic three free turns to attack. Fire Dude got down and dirty until she reached her opponent. Then she swung one foot backwards and brought it up for a powerful kick that made a bright flash upon impact. Thorne flew out of the hole and landed in a muddy puddle a few feet away. The Torchic got back onto solid ground but suddenly, she was unable to move as her paralysis kicked in.

Thorne was feeling greatly refreshed after having a whole round of resting. Fire Dude wasn’t feeling too bad either and now both Pokemon were ready for more intense battling. The Torchic spewed a glob of potent poison at her opponent. But Thorne spun into a yellow ball and rolled along the ground, deflecting the attack with his spinning. He slammed into Fire Dude for some minor damage before uncurling himself.

Fire Dude decided to give him another taste of his powerful Mega Kick. Thorne braced himself and started glowing red. The attack and counterattack collided and both Pokemon flew into the air from the blow.

Thorne was badly hurt, but struggled back up and launched a powerful bolt of lightning into the air, which had no problem in hitting the Torchic. Fire Dude retaliated with a Fire Blast, but the rain quickly extinguished most of the flames so that Thorne was merely hit by a few embers.
