So, what half-baked idea should we focus on first, then - ASB Awards, or ASB E-zine?
Personally, I'm up for the awards first; but then again, I did just receive an award for my ficcie (PLUG!), so I think I'm good for now. But I don't see why we can't pull 'em both off at the same time.
Meanwhile, let's bring up another topic for discussion, shall we?
Refs: how do you ref status ailments? That should be a fun argument, right?
Me? Let's see -
Attract - The victim becomes fascinated by his or her opponent if they're of opposite gender (or, if they swing that way, the same gender - but I'm not up for debating that at the moment); he or she becomes torn between their loyalty to their trainer and his or her sudden love interest. There's a 25% chance of flat-out denying their trainer's orders. Also, the victim, out of mercy, won't be attacking at his or her full strength. This ends when the victim is attacked by his or her "love interest" though. It snaps 'em out of it, per sé. Genderless pokémon are oblivious to their opponent's flirting.
Burned - The victim loses focus slightly because of the constant reminder of the burn, and his attack power is decreased. He takes 1-2% more damage from attacks until the burn goes away. Water and ice attacks feel slightly better, but not by much. Fire-type pokémon cannot be burnt.
Confused - The victim stares blankly in a daze until he is hit by an attack, knocking him back to reality. Until such time, there will be a 25% chance of attack failure, and another 25% chance that his trainer's orders will be misinterpreted.
Frozen - The victim is literally frozen solid. Mobility is limited based on the severity of the freeze. In rare cases, the victim won't be able to move whatsoever. Fire, whether it be from the opponent or the victim himself, attacks will thaw the victim, however. Ice-type pokémon cannot be frozen.
Paralyzed - The victim's muscles are locked in place, and as a result, his movements are slowed down heavily. There is a 25% chance that his body will completely lock up, thus leaving him unable to attack or defend himself. Electric-type pokémon can be paralyzed, but not by electric attacks.
Poison - The victim slowly takes 1% damage per action (3% per round). If the victim stresses himself, the poison damage is slightly more than if the victim relaxes. Poison-type pokémon cannot be poisoned, and steel-type pokémon are immune to it, simply because they don't have skin.
Seeded - The victim is entangled with several vines that slowly sap away at his health (about 1% per action). At the end of each round, the victim's opponent regains health based on the health sapped from the victim.
Sleep - The victim is asleep. Vulnerable to all attacks, but his fatigue level drops about 10% for each action he's asleep, unless he attacks via Snore or Sleep Talk, in which he loses 5% energy in addition to the 10% he regains.
Toxicity - The victim takes more poison damage as the poison dives further into his body, starting at 1% damage per action (raising based on his actions), and increasing by 1% per round. Poison-type pokémon cannot be poisoned, and steel-type pokémon are immune to it, simply because they don't have skin.
I think that's the lot of 'em... I'm too tired (and lazy) to make sure...
-Grey
-Grey
To be honest Grey I think you're delving into the status effects far too much. There's no need for such specifics such as burned Pokemon losing focus and the type-status-evasion (fire Pokemon not getting burned, ice types not getting frozen) makes no sense whatsoever.
In my opinion any ice type, let's say for example a Smoochum, is hit by a hydro pump. An ice attack like blizzard, if it were to strike, would essentially freeze the moisture on Smoochum's body and freeze her. What possible protection does she have as an ice type? Cloyster, Dewgong, Piloswine....I use the same case for them.
Perhaps electric Pokemon being immune to electric-based paralysis makes sense since they are used to high voltages of electricity in their bodies. Fire Pokemon have flame sacs and can endure high temperatures due to their skin so I'd let that slide.
And of course poison doesn't work on poison types because we've all done about Biology in school.
But what do people feel on the ice front?
I'd give the following classifications:
Attract: The user has a 1/3 chance of failing to attack due to infatuation with the opponent. This chance lowers if the user is struck by the foe, until they have lost infatuation. The Pokemon may feel distressed if they attack the foe.
Burn: Attack Power is weakened, and the user sufers standard 2% damage each turn. The Pokemon's burn area may take 2/3% more damage if it is struck due to pain. Water and Ice attacks may soothe the burn but not cure it.
Confusion: They have a 1/4 chance of not attacking. No hurting themselves like in the games, and the idea of 'misinterpreting' could be a little too much artistic license. Attacks like calm mind, focus energy, meditate etc can relieve confusion. It usually fades within 1 or 2 rounds.
Frozen: Well obviously being encased in a gigantic block of ice would be difficult but if they are hit by numerous ice attacks they may lose their mobility and their joints may seize up. If it is too severe they will not be able to move at all. Fire attacks can thaw them out. I can see the argument for letting attacks such as sand attack/sandstorm help against ice.
Paralysed: I think a 50% chance of joints completely seizing up. Generally slow after paralysis, electric attacks can deepen the paralysis and make it work.
Poison: Ok there are 2 types of poison.
1) Normal poison: 2/3% damage each round.
2) Toxic poison: Can be reffed as above OR 2% the first round then 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% etc. I've also seen 2%/4%/8%/16%/32% but that is generally considered too high. A nice balance is 2%/3%/4% etc.
As for stress worsening the poison; again I think you're looking too far into it.
Leech Seed: I think 3% per round/1% each action. Fire can burn the seeds off but may damage the user; ice attacks may kill the seeds but limit mobility; claws can tear the seeds off. Rapid spid also works.
Sleep: Asleep until woken. Energy is recovered per action asleep (maybe 4/5%) but loud attacks (Hyper Voice, Chatter, Roar, Screech etc) can wake them. Severe attacks will also cause them to wake up since, let's face it, you're not gonna sleep while someone claws at your face.
I'd class those above as the right way to do things; I'm up for little tweaks in terms of damage but don't go too far with the additional effects since it just confuses people and makes you a complicated ref.
And Blade, why are you getting increasingly rude these days? I preferred the funny, charismatic Blademaster, not the crippingly bitter old man that's crept into all your posts.

A half-baked Blade? That's what I chat with practically every night.
Anyway, I don't think that there should be type immunities to status effects. Ice may be able to better stand up to the freezing cold, and still get frozen. And Fire Types can still be burned by respectable attacks.
Poison, however, should not affect the Pokémon using it, not give all poison types an immunity. The reason for this is different species have a differing toxic composition that only that species have. The next species over, may have a similar toxin effect, but the composition of that toxin is still dangerous to the other.
Let's take a Seviper and an Arbok. Both are snake poison types and are different species. If the Seviper attacks the Arbok, and unleashes her toxin in the bite, the Arbok will become poisoned, the same goes for if the Arbok attacked the Seviper and poisoned her. However, if that same Seviper attacked another Seviper, the species is similar enough that they would be immune or be harder to receive poison from their own toxins, so a Seviper could not be poisoned by another Seviper's generated poison, or have a higher tolerance for said poison.
Toxic, when used by another Pokémon however, is not immune by a Pokémon of the same species, as the Toxin is generated by that one Pokémon and thus dangerous to all who touch the sludge.

Hmm, status effects...
Attraction: The attracted pokemon becomes reluctant to attack the user of attract or otherwise do anything that might displease them. Attacks they make against the object of their affection may suffer reduced effectiveness, and there is a 50% chance of their ignoring their trainer's orders and sitting around in a lovesick daze rather than fighting. Attraction fades slowly with time and much faster if the non-attracted partner makes direct attacks against the one suffering from attraction. Reluctant pokemon may be encouraged to attack through carefully worded commands.
Burning: Burned pokemon lose 3% health per round or 1% per action. Moving is painful for them, and as a result their physical attacks are reduced to 75% their normal effectiveness.
Confusion: The confused pokemon has a 50% chance of hurting itself in its confusion, with the amount of damage it takes depending upon its attack modifier. Confusion fades slowly with time, and fades faster if the confused pokemon takes damage from the opponent's attacks. Attacks such as calm mind and meditate can also increase the rate at which confusion fades.
Frozen: All or part of the pokemon's body becomes encased in ice. An iced-over body part is unusable until it thaws, which usually occurs within a few actions. Total freeze is rare and difficult to accomplish.
Leech Seed: The seeded pokemon loses 1% health per action for 3% lost per round; the pokemon benefitting from leech seed gains 2% health per round.
Paralyzed: The pokemon's muscles become unresponsive, occasionally refusing to budge at all. There is a 25% chance of total paralysis, with the chance of being fully paralyzed fading very slowly over several rounds. The pokemon's speed is cut in half.
Poison: Normal poisoning drains 1% health per action, for 3% health lost per round. Severe poisoning starts at 3% health lost per round and increases by 1% health/round up to a cap of 8% health lost per round.
Sleep: The pokemon becomes immobile and unresponsive, able to perform only the attacks chill, sleep talk, and snore. The chance that a pokemon will remain asleep for the next action is initially quite high but decreases with each action, falling faster if the sleeping pokemon takes damage from a foe's attack.

Hrm. Sure everyone wants to know my methodology , since I'm that new guy that's just really really weird...
Attract: Ahhh amor!
1/2 chance of going "HA I'M IN LOVE MOM! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE!"
'cause you either hit them, or you don't.
Burn: Pokemon Attacks that utilize the body are weakened by a quarter (From 3 to 6%(you know for like..Giga Impact and such.). You hit the burn, you feel more pain. You can cool the burn in water or on ice.
Poison:
Normal poison, 2/3 % a round, decided arbitrarily
Toxic 3% to begin, 1% hereafter.
Paralysis:
:oes the shimmy::
Slow due to unable to predict when and WHAT muscles seize up. May not move whatsoever 1/4th of the time.
The other 3/4ths of the time, -may not even land the attack, takes a bit more energy to get those attacks off due to muscles feeling like their gonna seize up every 6 seconds, ya kno?
What's missin'
Frosty!: When yer frozen, yer frozen. Ice Pokemon can be frozen, they just get out of it faster then all others with the exception of Fire Pokemon, who thaw out in like, one round. Fire attacks melt it. Fighting/Steel/Rock attacks can also break the ice if it is heavily caked onto an appendage (at the expense of damaging the recipient)
Seeded: 2-4HP a round, depending arbitrarily
Sleep: You sleeping. Maximum 8 moves. May regain energy is undisturbed. Can be awoken if hit repeatedly
Zat all?. No? Missing one..
Confusion @_@
Its half and half for me, either you hit or you don't. If you don't hit, yer gonna miss and stumble and hit either someone else, or fall and cause harm to yourself, or just miss. No crazy math or anything to my methods really.

Ditto as DL.
Oh well... we all Ref things differently.
Frozen: Depending on where on the PKMN that's frozen. If legs are frozen the PKMN is either immobile (both legs) or moving at half speed (one leg if biped), or 3/4ths speed (one leg if quadreped).
I'm still in the Hospital at Lincoln so I can't really do a full list as of yet.

Hmmgrah. When I actually *do* ref *hides*, it goes something like this.
Attracted: The Pokémon has a 50% chance of attacking. Either they smack the other guy or they just sit and stare longingly at the object of their affections. Generally dissipates after a few rounds; attraction can also wear off if the object of the afflicted's affections (fun to say) causes 20% or more total damage before the condition wears off, or about 10-15% all at once depending on the severity of the attraction. I mean, c'mon... *sniff* I love you... how can you be so cruel to me?
Burned: The Pokémon's Attack drops one level, which usually amounts to about 2% less damage for physical attacks. Anywhere from 2-5% health is lost per round, depending on the severity of the burn. Less-severe burns can be cured by cooling them, but if it's a bad one then water ain't really gonna help much, now is it?
Confused: First off, there's anywhere from a 12-50% chance that the Pokémon's attack will not hit its intended target (or not in the intended way), depending on the severity of the confusion. If the attack fails, there's then a 50% chance that the Pokémon will injure itself. If it doesn't injure itself, then something else happens depending on the situation, such as attacking a tree, stumbling and falling, or whatever I deem appropriate. Confusion generally wears off after a few rounds, although taking some time out to really collect one's thoughts (i.e. Calm Mind, Meditate, enough time spent relaxing/sleeping) can speed up the process.
Frozen: Partial freezing (i.e. only one limb frozen or something) impedes movement; it lasts indefinitely unless something is done to remove it (physical or Fire-type attacks, Sunny Day, etc.). Full-blown freezing lasts for a maximum of about three rounds, but that normally doesn't last very long because the enemy's (or an ally's) attacks generally whittle away a lot of the ice as well. Any Pokémon can be frozen with a few exceptions (Slugma, for example), although if it's a Fire-type or something the ice will probably melt in an action or two.
Paralyzed: Depending on the severity of the paralysis, the Pokémon has anywhere from a 12-75% chance of freezing up and being unable to move or complete their action. Not much can cure paralysis, aside from any methods the trainer might be able to think of that would loosen up the spasming muscles. I dunno, have your Bulbasaur's Machop partner give it a massage or something. *shrug* The Pokémon's speed is reduced by one level, causing it to attack/respond last each action until the condition is cured (as opposed to attacking in post order).
Poisoned: Regular poison does fixed damage at the end of every round, the amount depending on the severity; for example, a little prick from a Poison Sting would do less to an Exploud than having its opponent fire a Sludge Bomb into its mouth. Generally no more than 4%, though. Toxic poisoning generally starts at 1-2% and increases every turn, either one point at a time or else "doubling" every round depending on severity; it always caps at 10% a round, though. It generally can't be cured unless something like Rest or Refresh is used.
Sleeping: Generally only lasts for about two rounds. A few hard-hitting attacks in close succession, one super-powerful attack or else a lot of attacks over and over again, can wake the sleeper up. Depending on how restful the sleep is, up to 5% energy can be restored, except in the case of Rest; Rest is a forced, high-speed (compared to other sleep conditions) restoration of health, and as such it uses energy instead.
Here's mine:
Attract: The Pokemon becomes momentarily stunned and enamored by the opponent's beauty. Same-gender attraction IS possible, but very unlikely. Any assault (not defensive moves or non-damaging/stat-inducing attacks) by the Attracting Pokemon ends the Attraction. Genderless Pokemon, as we've seen in the anime, can be Attracted as well.
Burned: The Pokemon becomes burned; the stinging deals 2HP of damage at the end of each round. Attack value is not affected like it is in the game. Fire Pokemon are immune to Burns.
Confused: The Pokemon is dazed, its vision blurred and its head a bit light. Taking a round to rest clears the Confusion, as do moves such as Meditate and Calm Mind. It can't attack itself like in the games, but it can miss its target or fall over and waste an attack.
Drained: The Pokemon loses anywhere between 2HP (a la Leech Seed) and 12HP (via Dream Eater) at the time the attack is used or, in the case of moves such as Leech Seed, at the end of each round; 50% of the damage dealt is added to the HP of the Pokemon that cast the attack.
Frozen: The status effect I inflict the most rarely, Freezing makes its target completely immobile and doesn't wear off until fire, sunlight, or heat melts it or a sufficiently strong attack shatters it. Depending on how cold and thick the ice is, it may or may not be possible to warp out of it via Teleport, Faint Attack, etc.. Ice Pokemon are immune to Freezing.
Paralyzed: There's a 50% chance that one of the Pokemon's 3 attacks that round (excluding Relaxing or other moves that require no pgysical movement) will not work. The choice is random.
Poison: The Pokemon is poisoned; the toxins inflict 2HP of damage at the end of each round. Poison Pokemon are immune to Poisoning.
Sleep: The Pokemon goes to sleep and will wake up either of its own accord or after a particularly loud noise or strong attack startles it. Sleeping restores 5% Energy per action, just like Relaxing does.
Toxicity: The Pokemon gets bitch-slapped by Laura; the sting of the bitchslap is so great that it inflicts 2HP of damage at the end of round one and then inflicts two more HP of damage than the last round of every subsequent one (2HP at the first round's end, 4HP at the second, 6HP at the third, etc.). The potency of this technique is so intense, not even Poison and Steel Pokemon have a total immunity to it - even they will feel the wrath of Toxicity on occasion.![]()

Anyone notice there is a lack of...anything going on? My reffings are all deserted, as well as battles. Just a slow slump, maybe?

Co-incedently, I have been working a lot on Magick while I'm here, and bought a new Manga... Busou Renkin... from the artist who brought us Rouroni Kenshin no less =^^=
School starts in 8 days for me anyway and I'm going to be short on cash for a while since I took 7 days off from work to be here... so yeah... Once school starts my Reffings are going to be limited to once a week, and not several at 5:30 in the morning...

I have a Web page with brief information on all of my pokémon; however, it's mostly a record of what battles I've used them in, where I got them, and so forth, rather than anything personality-related.
The D/P Sugimori art is available from Veekun; you just need to look up the pokémon's page and then click the "Flavor Text and Images" link near the top of the page. You can save the Sugimori artwork from there, although it has not been cleaned up very well yet, and there are still some pokémon (i.e. Shaymin) for which the art has not yet been released.

Thanks Negrek. Yeah I can clean those up myself when I stop being lazy.
Im still debating whether to make this page or not. Not to mention I need pictures of everyone xD. Heck, even my banner is outdated now lol. I don't have Raynar in there yet (my new Corphish)

NEW MONTH!
This month I've gone with the theme of naming it after a member. I like doing this. Charles' Pancake business has boomed and his Pancake House is actually now the size of a Pancake Mansion.
Dragon Trainers like Lance and Claire are working here for low pay; Drake plays the piano on Friday Nights, although his range is weak. Charles sits on a gigantic, golden pancake and squirts syrup at people.
Anywhosit.
Member of the Month is Weasel Overlord! You get a free catch/evolution. I was very glad to get a few votes this month, keep them coming! Who deserves the MOTM prize? Let me know. PS MODS ARE ELIGIBLE (thanks for the vote MM)
Umm so yea. Grand Festival is kicking off now ish. I'm the main man, and instead of the setup last year I'm going to be rating each appeal out of 100. Just because.
Details up today. Maybe?
Random Tourney: whats going on here? Umm everyone make sure to check battles to see if you're needed as a ref/to post attacks. Please let me know if you think we should be stricter DQing people, and If thats the case, it may move smoother. I don't know though. Thoughts?
Also if anyone needs reminder of their team PM me :p
