Resident Evil: Rise of Umbrella (SIGN UPS)

July 24, 1998
S.T.A.R.S teams Bravo and Alpha were sent to investigate the Arklay research facility, also known as the Spencer Mansion, after a series of brutal murders. They discovered the place overrun with failed experiments of the Umbrella corperation, using the infamous T-Virus, along with the prototype of Umbrella’s favoured B.O.W., the Tyrant T-002. The mansion was destroyed along with these monstrosities. Only five people returned from the incident. Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, Brad Vickers, and unknown to them, Albert Wesker.

September 29, 1998
The infamous Raccoon City incident. The T-virus had been spread into the sewer system, where it was carried to the populace by rats. The city quickly fell into disarray, with the citizens being mutated by the virus. Umbrella researcher William Birkin was also mutated by a new strand of T-Virus, the G-Virus and went on a rampage. Umbrella also released their latest model of the Tyrant, codenamed “Nemesis”, to hunt down and terminate the surviving members of S.T.A.R.S. It was eventually destroyed by former S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine. The city was destroyed by a tactical air strike to prevent the spread of the virus. Survivors include Claire Redfield, Leon Kennedy, Sherry Birkin, Jill Valentine, Carlos Oliviera and Ada Wong. This incident would mark the beginning of the end of Umbrella.

2003
Special Forces troops, led by Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, launched an assault on Umbrella’s last major stronghold in southern Russia. It was there that they encountered Umbrella’s ultimate variation of the Tyrant, TALOS. The weapon was ultimately destroyed and the stronghold along with it. Before that however, the now maverick Albert Wesker stole data to Umbrella’s research, accounts, among other things.

A month later, Prosecutors working against Umbrella received incriminating evidence implicating Umbrella to the Raccoon City incident, specifically the last surviving founder, Ozwell E. Spencer. They were also able to secure an ‘ultimate witness’ to testify against Umbrella. The corporation was charged guilty and ultimately disbanded. Spencer vanished without a trace.

Feburary 16 2004
S.T.A.R.S., which had been disbanded since its destruction six years ago, was reformed as a government military unit under the leadership of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine. As well as peace keeping operations, S.T.A.R.S. also took part in the global manhunt against Ozwell Spencer. So far, he has not been found.

May 4 2009
Numerous bank accounts had been discovered to have been opened in the worlds most prestigious banks, including the Bank of London and a Swiss Bank account. Each separate account containing millions of dollars. What links these accounts together is the name that they are under.

Umbrella.

While this information was kept confidential, out of fear of the belief that Umbrella had once again risen would cause a panic, the government explored the possibility that the accounts could indeed belong to the infamous corporation. Constant monitoring has traced a recent transaction of funds to an installation on Rockfort Island. Under request from the government, a number of S.T.A.R.S. operatives have been sent to the island in a covert operation to investigate the installation’s activities, and if they pose a threat, to shut them down.

Ok, as the plot states, this RPG takes place 6 years after “Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles”. While this also take place 5 years after Resident Evil 4, there will only be a few references to it, mainly focusing on the Umbrella Corporation and its actions.

The plot, incase you haven’t figured it out, is quite simple. Operatives from the newly formed S.T.A.R.S. unit have been sent in to infiltrate an Umbrella installation on Rockfort Island to monitor its activities. Unlike every other Resident Evil game, the installation is *gasp* not overrun by zombies and other monsters…yet.

Now, for those who haven’t played any of the games, or are unfamiliar to the series, here are a few things you should know.

Umbrella
A company dedicated to creating the ultimate B.O.W., fronting as a global pharmaceutical company. Apart from its vast science division, it also had a highly trained security force, almost on par with the Special Forces. It was eventually forced into bankruptcy after the Raccoon City incident. Could this new Umbrella be the same?

T-Virus
A Virus developed by one of Umbrella’s founders, Dr. James Marcus. The virus can lead to numerous mutations depending on which organism it infects. In humans, it effectively kills them, before re-animating them as a mindless zombie. There are different variations , including the original Progenitor Virus, the G-Virus and the T Veronica Virus. In some individuals, the T-Virus may result in the creation of the Tyrant, Umbrella’s favoured B.O.W.

B.O.W.
Bio Organic Weapons. B.O.W. development is the main form of research in Umbrella, utilizing the T-Virus and its many variations as well as different organisms. The most favored are the Tyrants, resulted from certain human beings. Many variations of the Tyrant were produced, the most powerful being the TALOS, which was destroyed just before Umbrella’s collapse. Other organisms have been tested too, thought they have usually ended in failure.

Albert Wesker
A former member of S.T.A.R.S. and former Umbrella researcher. He was seemingly killed during the Spencer Mansion incident, but was revived by a mysterious virus with super-human qualities. Since then, he appears to be working against Umbrella, stealing data and resources. It is believed he turned in the evidence necessary to incriminate Umbrella, as well as acted as the ‘Ultimate Witness’. It is believed that he might be the new head of this new Umbrella corporation.

Rockfort Island
A private Island owned by the former Umbrella Corporation. An installation including a laboratory, an airport, a prison and a barracks was located on the island. Although the island was overrun when a raid by unknown militants caused an outbreak of the T-Virus and was eventually destroyed, it appears that a new one has been built in its stead. What could they be doing there?

S.T.A.R.S.
A military unit sent in to investigate the Spencer Mansion. It was devastated by the creatures residing within, leaving only6 known survivors, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Barry Burton, Rebecca Chambers, Brad Vickers, and Albert Wesker. Brad Vickers was killed during the Raccoon City incident and Barry and Rebecca have apparently left the unit. After Umbrella’s bankruptcy, S.T.A.R.S. as a government military unit, with Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield at its head.

Age: unknown, though some speculate his thirties, late twenties.

Appearance: He stands at about 5’9’’ with a lean build. He has short, gray hair, and a slightly thin face, causing most people to believe he’s older than what he really is. His eyes are a bright, vibrant green, which a quality that can make people uneasy.

As for clothing, he wears a white labcoat which is always done up, white pants tucked into his black boots and black rubber gloves. Is attire covers his entire body, the only skin visible is that of his head.

Personality: Though it’s clear that Victor has a couple of screws loose, he seems to be a friendly, and polite man. He is never seen without a smile or a content expression on his face. His desire for knowledge and his almost undying curiosity are what drive him in his work. Unlike those before him, he does not seek power, only to research and study in peace. However, his experiments seem to be a bit on the extreme side, almost falling into insanity, even by Umbrella’s standards. However, he always gets results.

History: Victor was always eager to learn, and had an almost unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Even at school, he seemed unsatisfied with what he was taught and always roamed the libraries for more information. During high school, this love of knowledge became focused on sciences, mainly biology. He loved to see what made up different species, what made them so unique and so forth. After graduating and completing a collage course in biology, he became a science teacher and then a professor at a New York collage. His teaching methods were, ‘unique’ to say the least. At least it got his students attention.

After her was reprimanded for his teaching methods, Victor gave up teach and traveled for a few years. It was then that he heard about Umbrella and the research they conducted. He became fascinated with what they had done and what research they performed. Unable to gain access to it anywhere, it seemed hopeless until he received a call enquiring on whether he desired to join the newly formed company. He immediately jumped to the chance. His enthusiasm as well as his progress quickly earned him the spot of chief researcher.

Just a question to ask, Mystic. It is 5 years after the last movie produced right? If that is the case, I do not think that the governments would even exist anymore since human kind has been wiped out to almost extinction.

I personally hoping someone wouldn't ask this. This RPG is based on the GAMES, not the movies. I'm not exactly happy with what they did with the movies, so I'm sticking with the original source. Wiki them if you need to learn anything.

before I forgot, the game Resident Evil: Dead Aim is not considered part of the Resident Evil storyline, so I don't want anyone referencing it.
