ROUND NINE

Ren moves carefully, watching his foe. The smaller and furrier Bugi takes a deep breath then spits a huge glob of oily venom at the fire type. Ren reaches out with one paw and the toxic liquid splashes against it. Bugi looks hopeful, but an invisible shield has appearaed between paw and posion, and the goop falls harmlessly to the ground before sinking into the earth. Ren snickers, whilst Bugi looks a little disappointed.

Ren reaches down and picks up a few more rocks that are at his disposal. He throws them, each one skimming across the ground and bouncing back up at Bugi. They each knock him back a little, and the little bug is left reeling a little. He steadies himself and twitches his antennae. Ren suddenly feels as though he's wrapped in chains, as energy is sapped away form him. Some of it burns away wasted as it comes into contact with his tail, but the rest swirls together and is reabsorbed by Bugi, replacing health he'd only just lost.

Having been sapped of strength momentarily, Ren roars in anger. The flame on his tail burns hotter and the fire spreads over his entire body. Ren lowers his head and begins to charge at Bugi. The little bug focuses all it's psychic power into it's head and it too charges forward. Ren covers a lot more ground than Bugi thanks to his increased speed and the two collide. Bugi is engulfed by the flames and badly burnt, whilst Ren crashes to the floor and rolls to a stop in the snow.

ROUND NINE

Having taken a bad blow in the previous round and as a result earned himself a bad burn, Bugi's time grows short. Something in the corner of his eye catches his attention, and a rock skips across the ground and hits him in the face. He falls backwards but quickly summons enough energy to create two copies. The identical Venonat's all jump to their feet, and suddenly the remaining rocks skip into a false copy and it vanishes. Ren's jaw drops open for a second, before he snaps it shut will a snarl.

Ren growls, and curls his claws into a fist. He looks from his fist to Bugi, and the fist bursts into flame. Bugi shudders, but stands his ground as Ren runs at him. In the last second, Bugi ducks to the side and spits at his foe. A compact ball of dirt and grunge explodes on contact with Ren's head, splashing slime and goop into his eyes and mouth. Ren swings wildly, catching Bugi as he falls, and scorching his fur a little. Bugi rolls in the snow quickly to ease the scorch whilst Ren retches as some of the sludge slides down the back of his throat and into his stomach.

Coughing violently as the poison seeps into his body, Ren's fist crunches tighter than before, and the flames burning around it becoming brighter and hotter. In response Bugi makes a noise that's a close approximation of a growl. A low pitch twittering that shows his frustration at being beaten around so much. Ren rushes at Bugi and slams his fist hard into the tiny bug pokemon, causing the purple bug to squeal in pain. The little bug rapidly scratches and bits at Ren, causing untold damage as he lets loose all his frustrations in one swoop. Ren stumbles backwards, getting out of range of the tiny scratching machine.

ROUND ELEVEN

Ren stares at the two little bugs before him. One of them was real, and responsible for the horrible poison now coursing through his veins. He clicks his claws together and hurls himself forward, raking the sharpened talons across the Venonat's body, landing a blow on the real Bugi as if he instantly knew the two apart. Bugi squeals, but manages to reach out and latch a tendril of energy onto the fire type, drawing out some of the pseudo-dragon's energy and adding it to his own reserves.

Ren waves his arms pathetically is if to stave off the drain of energy. He growls and bares his teeth. Bugi is ready to reach out with another attack, when white hot flames erupt around Ren's body. The fire pokemon charges at the little bug, and despite the tendril latching on mid stride, he's far to into the attack to notice. Ren delivers a flaming uppercut to Bugi, knocking the purple pokemon high into the air, where he comes crashing back down with a thump. Ren breaths heavily, but as he begins to calm down, he notices Bugi isn't moving. It looks like that final blow was just too much for the little guy to take, and has finally blacked out.

Ren slowly approaches the KO'd pokemon, and picks him up, patting him gently on the head for a job well done. It's not often a little bug can stand up to a crazy fire type like that.
