You accept this quest and take off with Wynario toward Blowser's Castle.



At first, your journey is rather uneventful barring the occasional bottomless pit, which alarms you at first while Wynario merely shrugs his shoulders. He says the local monarchy hasn't made a single attempt to pave those things over the past twenty-or-so years and he doubts they're going to change their minds anytime soon. Just as he begins lecturing you on the finer points of statecraft, a number of squat brown Shroomishes start approaching from the distance. They look weird and oddly menacing.



"Oh no!" Wynario claims. "It's a pack of Shroombas! Quick, help me fight them!"

How do you proceed?

If you do, then I'll let Tesla take a big sniff and use Odour Slueth to track the scent. Hanzo. I want ou to stay here, whilst Tesla and I look for the doctor. If he comes back then alert me with your Psychic powers. I'm also giving you permission to defend yourself and these two Nido's, by any means necessary if something happens while I'm gone.

A dangerous quarry home to Rock and Ground types. Footing is loose, and there's always work being done. A few Fighting types and some rare Steel types also make their homes here. Within the mining tunnles you may find a few rare passages...

"Something of Dr. Miltank's? How about this?" Nidoran♂ asks, holding up Dr. Miltank's lab coat.



Tesla takes a long, heavy whiff of the coat and then begins sniffing along the ground until he catches the matching scent. You leave instructions with Hanzo and then take off. Tesla's terrific sniffer leads you down various ramshackle boulevards until you enter a crowded marketplace where a number of Pokemon are doing their shopping. Tesla turns to you and frowns. Amidst all these Pokemon, it's hard to get a lock on Dr. Miltank's scent.

You look around at all the milling Pokemon. The ones that catch your eye are an Aipom selling fruit, a shiny Kecleon performing tricks for money, an Elekid lurking slyly near a pastry stall and a Bouffalant who looks like some kind of police officer.

As though you've done this before in another life, you begin leaping upon Shroomba after Shroomba, causing them to *poof* out of existence.. Wynario does the same and it looks for a moment like you're making serious progress until you realize the Shroombas just keep coming and coming. Jeepers! Since you're used to getting your Pokemon to do most of the physical labour, you begin tiring quickly.



"There might be too many of them for us to fight them like this," Wynario says, "but I know where we might be able to score some power-ups. That could make things easier for us. What do you say? Hit the right button on the directional pad to go find power-ups!"

Suddenly, a figure bumps into you. It's the Elekid you saw earlier.



"Sorry, sir," he says, inclining his head. "I should really watch where I'm going. My mistake."

He then skips away and is soon lost in the crowd.

"Anyway," Aipom continues, "you ought to be able to find Dr. Miltank somewhere around here."

You and Wynario scurry away from the Shroombas. You leapfrog over several bottomless pits until you come upon a clearing where several golden boxes bearing white question marks are suspended in the air. You immediately begin looking for some kind of crowbar you can use to jimmy them open.



"There you go!" Wynario says. "Just stand under them and jump!"

Realizing that you've been robbed, you send Tesla after Elekid. Sizzling with electric current, Tesla darts into the crowd of milling bodies and is soon gone. You try to follow, but you're not nearly as fast nor dextrous as your Manectric and you've soon lost track of him.

Suddenly, you notice a Miltank with large, horn-rimmed glasses.



"Excuse me," he says as he approaches you, "I'm Dr. Miltank from the Fossil Reanimation Facility. I think I've been pickpocketed... you haven't seen any shady figures around town, have you?"

Following Wynario's cue, you begin jumping under the golden blocks. Two of them yield only coins (which Wynario pockets so he can afford to take Princess Pomegranate out on a hawt date once this is all over) but the other five yield power-ups. You receive a Mega Mushroom, Mini Mushroom, Fire Flower, Ice Flower and Super Star. Yippee!



"Oh no!" Wynario exclaims. "The Shroombas are back! Quick, use a power-up so we can fight them!"

"Well, that's just despicable," Dr. Miltank proclaims. "C'mon, let's find them!"

You begin to wonder how you'll ever find them in all this hubbub when, suddenly, you notice a gap in the crowd. You and Dr. Miltank fight your way through the milling bodies until work your way to the front to see what everyone is looking at. Sure enough, Tesla has Elekid pinned and is gnashing his sizeable incisors savagely.



"Help!" Elekid shouts. "Help, a rabid Manectric is trying to chew my face off! Somebody do something!"

With your Fire Flower ready, you get down to business.



Pyoo! Pow! Zap! You fling fireballs left and right, incinerating Shroomba after Shroomba after Shroomba after Shroomba after, yes, Shroomba. Soon enough, you've defeated all the Shroombas and feel like a major badass.



"Phew!" Wynario exclaims. "Great work! You fried those mushrooms like, well, like fried mushrooms! Nicely done!"

With your path unobstructed, you saunter on ahead. Soon, you come across a large green pipe poking out of the ground.



"I wonder what's down there," Wynario murmurs.

How do you proceed?

You approach the warp pipe and squat down on it, feeling awfully uncomfortable. You wait for something to happen, but nothing does.

Suddenly...

Chomp!

Something beneath you bites down on your derriere and you leap off the pipe in pain. Your Fire Flower power-up vanishes (bet you wish you'd recklessly flung fireballs while you still had the chance!) as you turn to see what tried to turn you into dinner.



"Oh no!" Wynario cries. "It's a Victranha Plant! Sometimes they hang out on dummy pipes and take a bite out of unsuspecting adventurers. Once we return to the castle I'll see if I can find some Neosporin for your, er, tushie. But, um, we gotta fight it!"



You can't decide what's uglier: the Victranha Plant or its horrible, horrible name. It snaps its jaws menacingly as though daring you to attack. Suddenly, something a few feet away at the base of a tree catches your attention. It appears to be a Pokemon egg of some sort.



It's bouncing and shaking about. It looks like it needs some help hatching.

How do you proceed?

> Make a dash for the egg

The Victranha Plant lets out a blazing ball of fire. Eep!



With deft movements, you duck beneath the fireball and madly sprint toward the Pokemon egg. You pick it up... and, suddenly, it hatches in your hands! A squat green dinosaur pops out.



"Croshi!" he cries excitedly as he uses his powerful tongue to pick you up and set you down on his back.



"Hooray! It's Croshi, my noble steed-slash-poker buddy!" Wynario cries. "Croshi, show us what you can do!"

You hold on tight to Croshi's neck as he sprints toward the Victranha Plant. The Victranha Plant spits out another fireball, but Croshi effortlessly dodges it and then sucks the plant right into his mouth using that powerful tongue! Croshi chews for a moment and then swallows the Victranha Plant in one gulp. And just like that, your enemy has been vanquished.

With the threat taken care of, you progress. At long last, you arrive at the dark, scary structure known as Blower's Castle... sort of. You see that there's a large mote you need to cross first. The water looks rough and choppy and you're not sure you'll be able to swim across.

"I don't even think Croshi's amazing jumping skills can cross that ravine," Wynario says.

He sucks you and Wynario into his mouth (ew) and then spits you across the moat. You land in a heap with Wynario all covered in stinky dino-saliva. While Croshi makes a good friend, he could probably stand to invest in a little Scope.



"Now we just have to take care of those guards by the doors," Wynario whispers. "They're Blowser's trusty Squoopa Kids."



Squoopa Kids? That's barely pronounceable!

Tesla keeps Elekid pinned as you ask for your stuff back.



"What stuff? I didn't take anything!" Elekid shouts, except you can very clearly see that he's sitting on a loot bag. The crowd rolls their eyes. They don't seem to care much for Elekid.

You get Tesla to drag Elekid over to Officer Bouffalant.



"This is the sixth time you've tried to pull these shenanigans, Elekid!" Officer Bouffalant barks when you show him the criminal. "You're getting locked up for good. Thanks for the help, human. Here's your stuff back. Now come here, you."

Officer Bouffalant returns your fossil and Great Ball and hands Dr. Miltank his power cord before dragging Elekid away.



"Thanks for your help, human!" Dr. Miltank says cheerfully. "I don't know what I would have done without you. That's quite an interesting specimen you have on your hands."

He eyes your Root Fossil with interest.

You and Wynario each jump on one of the green-shelled Squoopa Kids. They're easily defeated, leaving behind only their shells which start bouncing around the area dangerously. You try to do the same to the red-shelled Squoops Kids, but they use their pesky wings to soar out of range.



"Drat!" Wynario cries as he leaps over one of the bouncing green shells.

You quickly run inside, slamming the big door behind you. Hooray!

You find yourself in the middle of a high-ceilinged Gothic chamber. You see a staircase leading upward, another staircase leading downward and a corridor winding off out of sight. You also see... a massive horde of Squoopa Kids.





"Maybe they won't notice us," Wynario whispers.



Except they totally do. Crap.

It's Super Star time!





Wynario ducks behind a pillar as you start glowing with a blinding light. You then run amok in the chamber, plowing into Squoopa Kids and obliterating them like you've been doing this your whole life. They don't even leave any shells behind which means you don't have any pesky hazards to worry about when your invincibility fades. Well, Super Star. It's been fun.

Expecting King Blowser to be keeping Princess Pomegranate in some kind of dungeon, you and Wynario take the stairs downward. Sure enough, you come upon a stone antechamber with a large, ornate door set into one of the walls. You try to turn the door's handle but it's locked, unfortunately. You can faintly hear shrieks of fear coming from the other side.



"That's Princess Pomegranate!" Wynario exclaims. "Don't worry, Pom Pom, we're coming!"

You examine your surroundings a little more closely. The antechamber is pretty unremarkable, except for the fact that you see a tiny hole even smaller than Wynario in one of the walls.

How do you proceed?

> Go back up the steps

I left my Gallade there to make sure nothing happened when I left, so there shouldn't be any problems when we get back.

"Sure thing!" Dr. Miltank says. "Usually I'd charge an exorbitant fee, but since you and your Manectric helped me out I'll regenerate your fossil free of charge. Just follow me back to my lab!"



You return to the Fossil Reanimation Facility where Hanzo looks suitably bored but definitely happy to see you. You then had the Root Fossil over to Dr. Miltank.

"It'll take about fifteen minutes for the Reanimatic 2000 to convert the DNA into the appropriate Pokemon," Dr. Miltank explains. "I'll let you know when everything is ready."

He then heads off into a back room.

You use your Mini Mushroom to shrink down to the size of a thimble and enter the tiny hole in the wall. You roam down a dark passageway until you come upon what seems like a spacious room to you, though you realize it probably isn't much bigger than a dictionary. You see a key roughly twice the size of your body on the ground and standing on it is...



...the largest Weedle you've ever seen. It's waaay more big and impressive than the 96x96 sprite would suggest.

The Weedle (or should I say, Weedler?) appears to be sleeping.

How do you proceed?

> Pull the key out from under Weedler
> Wake Weedler and ask him to move
> Attack!
