Hiya. I don't really post in here often but I thought that seeing as I have it on disc, I might as well ask for people's opinions on it.
It's a Geocities webpage so you might have to copy and paste: http://www.geocities.com/mimo2k4/em2.jpg
Basically I had to pick a theme for my Art project in school and I chose 'Racism'. So I took photos of a couple of pupils in my school - one black, one white - and I took it from there. I hope that doesn't sound racist...it's just the background to the project. The background images are all of my own work - in paint, oil pastel, charcoal etc. although I know some of them are quite weak - which I scanned into the computer and assembled together.
I decided to make the theme more regional and since, politically, I live in Northern Ireland, I related it to that. What it says is rather quite interesting IMO but I made the words, that I consider significant, stand out more.
The 'United Colours of Ireland' part is a play on the 'United Colours of Benneton' ads that you see in places. They're often controversial and many of them are based on racism and inequality, so I thought that was a good play on words and an original idea.
And the faded colours are the flags of Ireland and Great Britain, which is supposed to convey the idea of a divided region.
I'm not going to go on for much longer. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. All my prep. work for the project built up to this, and I plan on getting it printed onto A1 or A0 size paper. I'm not making any changes to it but still, any comments are gladly accepted. Thank you![]()
