Slightly late news, but it's pretty important anyway.

Those of you who are subscribed to the R* newsletter will know that R* have released the GTA San Andreas site to the public, and the site includes a 90-second trailer. It's not as action-packed as the Vice City trailers were, but it does show off some nice aspects of gameplay and I reckon they'll divulge more, better trailers as the release date draws nearer (I'm going to get it tattooed on my knuckles, I think).

So let's see what else we've picked up from the site release:

  • Police motorcycles - Much anticipated, and will add a nice touch of realism.
  • Co-ordinated drive-bys - Old screenshot, but it's worth mentioning again. If pulled off correctly, this should be awesome.
  • Bicycles - Another old one, but again worth dragging up. Not really that high on the list of must-have features for me, considering the whole keep-fit thing we're going to need to go through, but I guess it makes the game more realistic if nothing else.
  • Texture quality - I know these are only renders, but seriously, look at the police car textures in that shot. If it ends up looking anything like that for the PS2 release, I'll be mightily chuffed.
  • Cigars - Perhaps another aspect of the "healthy lifestyle" agenda that R* are making? Also of note is the Well-Stacked Pizza joint in the background, making its return from VC. I'm expecting fast food to be an integral part of this game.
  • More fitness - This is probably going to be the quickest way to lose weight.
  • Wheelies! - I hope this is possible on motorcycles too...

I'm surprised that there weren't any underwater screenshots, given the inclusion of the swimming system R* have implemented in SA, but as usual time will tell.

Goddamn, I'm looking forward to this.
