It's a lazy Saturday afternoon. You've had almost a whole week of dealing with scientists running tests on you, trying desperately to figure out why you and a select number of others aren't losing your Psi powers to the Psi-less epidemic that's already spread to every other Pure and Halb in the world. Fortunately, today they've let you off from the testing, given you a day to rest while they look at results and try to figure out a connection.

For whatever reason, you're alone in the house. Your parents have gone day-tripping, your siblings are off playing with their friends, or you don't live with anyone else to begin with. In fact, nothing interesting has happened at all today. That's when the mailman comes by, and glad for something to do, you go out and get the mail.

Maybe it's the only letter, or maybe it's just one of many in the daily mail, but you find a scarlet red envelope addressed to you in blocky computer text printed right on the envelope. You open it up when you get inside, or maybe so curious to know what it is you don't even make it that far before opening it. Inside is a mostly-blank piece of plain white paper, with only three words on it, in the same blocky lettering on the envelope:

I'M AFTER YOU.

Even more curious, you make sure that's the only thing on the paper, and that there's nothing else in the envelope. But a noise draws your attention away. Maybe it's the breaking of a window, or the bursting down of a door, or maybe even an awfully loud footstep, but in any case you turn to see a bunch of people dressed up in black garments, looking oddly like ninjas. You might try to talk to them, but regardless of what you say (or not), they suddenly come at you and attack, exactly like NINJAS!

Extremely glad that your Psi powers are still intact, you use them to fend off the ninjas, who seem to just be Norms and don't use any Psi powers against you. Before you realize it, they're all defeated and run off, leaving you completely confused but at the same time very scared and nervous. With no other idea of what to do, you hurry over to the phone and call one of the others who still had their powers like you…

Name: Mike Preston
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Appearance: 6' and quite lanky, weighing only 145 lbs., though he's also quite agile and quick on his feet. He has short brown hair and bright green eyes, though his right eye has a tiny splotch of blue on the bottom of it. His skin is slightly tanned, but even if he were to stay out in the sun all day he doesn't burn. For clothes he usually wears a T-shirt (printed more often than not) over either a pair of long or short jeans or khakis, loose in the legs but tight around the waist (with a belt, if needed, so that it doesn't risk falling off).
Personality: Rather laid back and lazy, but not air-headed at all. He has a lot of wits about him, he just doesn't like to act unless it's something he likes to do. He doesn't really get angry, and even if he does he's not very violent at all (though others still try to be violent on him). He prefers making friends to making enemies, and would risk just about anything for his friends.
Psi type: Aero-Psi
History: He discovered his power when he was cornered by a group of physically-fit bullies and when he was about to be punched, he made an air shield in front of him so solid the kid who was punching him nearly broke his wrist. Since then he's been left alone by bullies, which he finds a very good thing. At nights, sometimes, when he was bored and can't sleep, he'd take a small flight around the neighborhood; this has recently become a regular pattern, occurring Friday through Monday nights. His parents are both Halb Pyro-Psi.
Relationships: Friends with Sarah and Sally, though he hasn't yet caught on to her crush on him.
Other: "…If a little animal came up to me, I'd give him a pat on the head, a tuna-flavored treat, and some sage advice." ~ StrongBad

For the sake of argument, assume all technologies are at the same point they're at in the current time, except certain movies/books/games might be slightly different. (In other words, keep computers and game systems as they are today.) Also, constraining devices and areas would be slightly higher-tech.

"Thank-freakin'-goodness," I said to nobody in particular, mostly because there was nobody in the house to say it to. "I thought I was done with all that testing almost ten years ago, but noooo, they have to keep testing even though they haven't found anything new." I sighed, poking at the bandage covering the hole in the inside of my elbow that they had taken my blood from. Then I rubbed the sore places where the adhesive neural-electro pads had resisted being torn off.

"At least now it's just me," I added, getting up from my bed and changing into a pair of worn (but not ripped) dark blue jean shorts, a black T-shirt with white letters that read 'I think, therefore, iMac,' and a pair of thick, dark brown sandals. On that note, I woke my iMac up from its overnight sleep and took off my away message, not that anyone else was available anyway; as I hadn't woken up until after noon, everyone else was off having lunch or doing other stuff.

My stomach chose that time to remind me that I too should get some food, so I left my room and started walking downstairs. Halfway down, I half-missed a step and nearly went toppling face-first…but I simply shoved my hand forward and the gust of wind pushed me back upright, standing flat on the step again. I had gotten so used to being able to do it, I had no clue how I'd survive like almost every other Psi who had lost seemingly over half of their powers.

Deciding not to think on it today and rather save it for Monday when they'd be poking and prodding me again, I went over and started to make some lunch, as breakfast was long gone. Just as I was finishing putting together my sandwich, I noticed the mailman walk by. Unusually excited because it was so boring, I ran out and collected it, deciding to deal with it after I ate. I thought I saw a black shape outside the open windows as I sat, but I looked closer and didn't see anything, so I shrugged it off.

After I finished eating, I put the plate away and turned to the mail. It wasn't much: a plain envelope which was obviously a bill, a fancy envelope that I could tell was from a friend of my parents, and a red envelope addressed to me. Hoping this wasn't something saying I was expected to go in for testing tomorrow, I slit it open and pulled out the white piece of paper. It was folded in perfect thirds, and the outside was completely blank. The inside, however, had three large words in computer-printed text: "I'M AFTER YOU."

I was confused. There was no signature, no indication at all of who it was from, and though I checked again, the rest of the paper stayed white. I looked at the envelope again, not too surprised that there was no return address. I looked inside again, but it was quite empty.

That's when I heard a clattering from right behind me. Dropping the letter on the table, I turned around and saw both of the screens from the open window clattering at the feet of six guys in full-body black cloth suits, each of them striking a pose with their hands. If it wasn't obvious they had just broken into the house, I would have laughed at the absurdity of it. 'Ninjas?' I thought, my mind racing as I thought of what I should do. But the six of them were just standing there, still in their poses. That's when I looked past them and into the window, which showed my reflection…and the seventh guy in black that was sneaking up behind me with a knife!

Feeling the air to detect him without moving, I found him and made the air grab him, throwing him down at the ground with a sickening thud. Suddenly the rest of the ninjas reacted, coming at me with other weapons, including shuriken and more daggers. Realizing the house was not the best place to fight, I jumped back and flew towards the door, landed with my hand on the knob, and tore out to the front lawn.

Something black whizzed by my head, nearly hitting my ear, and I watched the shuriken lodge itself in the post of the mailbox. 'So, they want to throw things at me, huh?' I grinned to myself. 'Well I can throw them right back!' Quickly I turned, just in time to see another pair of shuriken come hurtling at me. pushing my hands forwards at them, I angled them so they turned back and hit their owners square in the shoulders. I couldn't help but wince as they clutched at them and collapsed to the ground.

But there were still four more. Another pair jumped high, daggers drawn and aimed at me. "Anything you can do," I called out, then pushed off and flew high into the air, "I can do better!" The two of them dropped into the ground where I had been only a couple seconds before, and I quickly clicked off my sandals and threw them down at their heads, a heavy gust helping them to knock out their targets.

I fell gracefully, landing softly on my now-bare feet, facing the two remaining ninjas. Deciding not to let them close to me, I pushed forwards in a different way, sending two blocks of solid air flying into their stomachs and hitting them against the outside of the house. "Ouch, concrete…that's gotta hurt," I said.

Suddenly another ninja appeared from inside the house, carrying the one I had knocked out earlier. He grabbed the two I had just knocked out and jumped off, moving along the roofs. I sensed more movement behind me and another ninja appeared, grabbed the two I had hit the head of, and was off like the first. By the time I had turned back, the two others that had been shuriken'd had run off as well.

Completely shaken, I went over and picked up my sandals, then noticed the shuriken still lodged in the mailbox post. Grabbing it, I yanked it out and went inside. I put my sandals down by the front door and put the shuriken down on the red envelope. I nearly jumped out of my skin when the phone rang.

"H-hello?" I said when I picked it up.

"Holycrapholycrapholycrap!!" The panicked voice of my friend Sarah nearly blew my ear off.

"Yeowch, Sarah, you don't need to yell over the phone," I said into the receiver, holding the earpiece away from my head.

"You'll never believe what just happened! It's just too crazy!" Knowing who I was talking to and putting certain things together, plus adding a little guess to it, I gave her an answer.

"Ninjas?"

"No! It was…" she stopped for a second. "Wait, how did you…" she stopped again for a few seconds, and I could practically feel her eyes widening. "They attacked you too?!"

"Yep," I said, my heart racing faster now. "Nearly took my ear off, but when they saw I was too much they ran away."

"Same here, I set a few on fire and they decided I wasn't worth the effort or something." She was talking a little more normally now, but I could practically feel the tension on the other end of the line.

"I doubt we're the only ones," I said. "I'd bet just about anything that all of us that still have our full powers got targeted." I thought for a bit. "We should get in contact with the others; do you have any other phone numbers of the others?"

"No," she said, "I lost any others that I had 'cause I rarely talked to them."

I let out a soft chuckle, "Well, I'll give you Kailie's number; she should have everyone else's number, I remember seeing her take them down. I'll call that crazy drunk Alex and see if I can catch Trina online since I don't have her number. Tell them…" I stopped to think, "tell them we should all meet up at Mine's Field, that should be somewhere in the middle of everyone."

"The field that's just a few blocks from my house?" she asked in confirmation. "Alright, I'll do that."

"Okay," I replied. "Tell you what: I'll drop by your house when I'm done here, and we can walk there together, in case any more ninjas decide to attack or something." I gave her Kailie's number, then went upstairs to my room and shook my computer from its state of sleep. Sure enough, Trina was online, and she had changed her display name to "Trina: Ninja attacks... not fun @.@".

I picked up my phone and dialed Alex's number, while sending Trina a message, "You're not the only one to have had ninja attacks."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's pretty much it: Nobody else is home, you get the red envelope and plain letter, immediately after that ninjas attack you, you fight off the ninjas, and finally you contact (or get contacted by) another of the characters. You can get to the field, but don't push forward on the plot just yet. It shouldn't take your character more than half an hour to get to the field, either.
EDIT: Forgot that I let people go to the field, so here's the description:
Mine's Field is divided into two parts. One half is nothing but grass, with a few trees dispersed along the edges and a couple not so close to the edges; this is a perfect place for picnics or for outdoor LARPs (Live-Action Role Plays). The other half is a three-way cross between a soccer, a football, and a baseball field, used by local organizations every now and then, but usually left for people to just have fun on (and yes, I have seen something almost exactly like this).
