Forgiven Memory

Ten elements, two worlds. Fire, Ice, Wind, Thunder, Wood, Water, Soul, Light, Earth, and Metal were the elements which stood, providing a divine law of the land in which the lives of people and spirits were based off of. The worlds were Earth and the Divine Realm. Since time had began, these elements had ran wild, beasts often running across the countryside, without anybody to tame them. This remained until a young priestess, a woman known to her region as Chinatsu, was called upon by the gods and responsibility thrust upon her. Wise and pious, she learned the secrets hidden behind these elements, and somehow managed to master them.

However, this peace lasted only a few years. Civil war broke out in the country, the origin of this war being a vampiric man who only called himself 'Myotismon.' He convinced many into believing his virtues considered the sins, which he promised those who followed him eternal life and power. Seeing the dangers of this, Chinatsu and a simple shinobi named Katsuro, together sought out Myotismon, and an ultimate battle was waged. Even though victorious, the heroes perished. However, before their death, the spirits of the elements appeared before them. Taking their favored elements, the two inscribed their names upon their choice, and then their souls faded into the blanket of time.

Most of the elements mourned over the death of the heroes of the world. However, the proud element of Light decided to create three spirits powerful over the others. These spirits became known as Seraphimon, Orphanimon, and Cherubimon. Seeing inferiority in the spirits, they goaded them into the Divine Realm and separated the two worlds, the legends of the priestess, ninja, and of the spirits forgotten.

In panic, the elements divided into two and razed the border in order to find an escape. Saddened by their failed attempts, they waited patiently. And then the technological age came on Earth, and they were mysteriously reunited. However, at the same time, an angelic child known as Lucemon was born. Of an evil mind, being the reincarnate of Myotismon, he captured half of the elements as his own, and seeing how Light wasn't in his grasp, created the element of Darkness from the shadows. He then created the crests, the essence of his elements, and sent them to random children on Earth. Seeing this, the trinity of justice did the same, and wondered if this was another attempt at war.

These crests all represented a trait inside the children's hearts. They were Courage and Cowardice of Fire, Friendship and Loneliness of Ice, Love and Lust of Wind, Knowledge and Ignorance of Thunder, Reliability and Betrayal of Water, Sincerity and Vanity of Forest, Hope and Sin of Soul, Light, Darkness, Kindness and Cruelty of Earth, and finally Miracles and Fate of Metal. While the fact of eleven elements remained, the twenty crests remained balanced, causing no worries to neutral Digimon.

Modern Tokyo is calm and peaceful during the city's Spring Break for schools. Nothing seems to go wrong, and there's a month to be free of worries. From wherever or if you're just home, you feel boredom and decide to head online for awhile. Part of you feels a pull in your heart, but the other part of you seems to ignore this warning, and you check your Inbox for e-mails. Aside from whatever spam and whatnot, you find only one interesting message from an anonymous address. Confused, you look into it and read. There's a simple message with a Yes or No link; it reads 'Time is running out. Make your move. Will you decide the fate of the world?' Reluctantly, you click the option of Yes, and light or shadow plunges from the computer towards you, seemingly dragging you. Unable to think, you pass out.

Awakening, you feel an awkward sense of being different. You look upon the group you're among, and yourself, and notice you all have two things in common, a small device and a creature claiming to be a Digimon, or Digital Monster. Despite any complaints, you realize what you are together for, like it or not. After gathering together, your group sets off into this Digital World in the crusade to decide the fate of the world. Whatever happened to the reincarnates of Chinatsu and Katsuro, and what sets them apart from the others? Are they perhaps different from the others in some way? What would happen to the world without them? Only the threads of time will show...

Alright. Here's some basic information.

~D-Serenity - The D-Serenity is this RPG's version of the Digivice. Resembling the digivices used in Digimon Frontier, the D-Tector/D-Scanner. It can reveal the data of Digimon, and detect the prescence of other D-Serenities. Rumors are also held that these devices have pros and cons, depending on the side of the Chosen Child. Functions also as a D-Terminal, in which this time, it stores the crest rather than a DigiEgg.

Mine is as follows.

Name: Laura Deirdre (pronounced Dare-dra)
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: Standing at a close to average height of 5'4, Laura's facial physique consists of deep forest green eyes with a feline hint to it, and her hair is thick, shoulder-length, and deep dark brown in color. Her skin is relatively pale, and her figure is pretty well-formed, almost naturally athletic for a swimmer.
Laura, given that it is Spring Break, is without a required sailor school uniform, and normally dresses in dark colors and somewhat loose clothing to shadow her form. This normally consists of a black and red System of a Down shirt (as shown), and slightly darker than normal jeans that taper off of her black high-top tennis shoes. Jewelry wise, she wears silver earrings bearing the traditional triangular Celtic knot, and a necklace bearing an Amy Brown faery with a sapphire orb at the faery's stomach.
In the Digital World, her clothing is altered to where she is much so in a rave club or somewhere similar. Her shirt is replaced with a black kimono-like top that comes down to about mid-thigh on her, with blue ends on each sleeve and obi. Her jeans are replaced with black capri pants with dark blue straps attached, and her tennis shoes remain the same. However, her jewelry has been replaced. Her celtic-themed earrings have been replaced with small silver hoops, and rather than a faery, her necklace bears an oriental dragon with ruby eyes, grasping a small diamond. In her hair is also a ribbon of the same color as her obi, used to tie her hair back.
Personality: Laura is rather free-spirited and kind-hearted, which unfortunately has led to her social issues as well as some of her now introverted, depressive nature. All she longs for is to be accepted for being her rather than hiding behind some model image, and in modern teen culture, it is hard for her. When she forms a form of friendship, her loyalty and commitment is unconditional and loving.
Alliance: Dark
Crest/Element: Loneliness/Ice
D-Serenity: Dark grey with blue rims, with buttons a much lighter, almost silver, grey. The Crest of Loneliness, a crystal resembling that of Suicune's surrounded by two circles, is on the back with the same color as the rims.
Digimon: Snowmon (Kori)
History: Laura, as some have guessed, is American by birth. Her parents oddly found each other being from opposite ends of the country, thus political issues had always been intact in her family. Her mother had constantly had affairs, and from an early age, Laura assumed that it wasn't right. But whenever she saw, she was threatened with beatings. Not able to handle this pressure, she at a mere five years old told her father, and it resulted in divorce, and she landed in the custody of her mother.
Her mother soon remarried, and she immediately continued this time with neglect for her daughter's emotions. Laura became depressed because of this, and even counselors were scared to admit her mother was the cause. Two years of emotional, and at one point, sexual, abuse came to an end dramatically when she was seven, in which unable to be reunited with her "missing" father, she wound up in the custody of her favorite aunt. Not too long afterwards, the two moved to Tokyo, where they presently reside.
Laura grew under a mixed interest family, flourishing contently. She learned how to play the guitar, as well as some of the basics to crystal healing and herbs. At first, this interested her peers, yet as they grew older, trends became common while Laura kept true to herself. Attending a school with mixed Japanese and American pop cultures, she doesn't seem to necessarily fit in with either group. Even for making some of the higher marks among her peers, she is pushed even further down, usually out of jealousy or simply out of her natural sympathy for those who do poorly. Hurting her emotionally, she has taken the blame for even things she hasn't done, thinking of herself as "too self-centered" and such. However, she hopes that this spring, she can discover friendship and true, eternal love unlike what she has seen...
Relationships: None as of yet. However, she sympathizes for the one boy she finds handsome, Hatake Michael, and hopes to reach out to him more.
Theme Songs:
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters (Lyrics)
System of a Down - ATWA (Lyrics)
Staind - Right Here (Lyrics)
System of a Down - Lonely Day (Lyrics)
Other: The emotional reincarnate of the miko, Chinatsu. Ironically, she was born in the later part of the summer (early September), given that the name Chinatsu means "a thousand summers."

Name: Snowmon
Species: Young Dog
Class: Vaccine
Appearance: Snowmon, quite basic, resembles a small American Eskimo Dog, with eyes that are a innocent grey color. Her somewhat glittery fur has dark blue stripes along her back.
Personality: She's really reserved and trusts Laura more than anybody else. As a quiet being, she seems confused when it comes to talking to people she doesn't trust. She'll help Laura in every way she can.
Attacks:
Child's Play - She runs in circles a few times before a small spike of ice rises from the ground.
Koori Breath - She breaths a small amount of ice out of her mouth.
Emotional Uprising - She looks up to the sky and causes a small snowstorm to rain down.
Level: Rookie
Element: Ice

Name: Freyamon
Species: Winter Spirit
Class: Vaccine
Appearance: She looks a lot like Kirara/Kilala on InuYasha(the beast form, of course), except her fur is a deep blue color and her fangs aren't as large. Her eyes are now a dark grey which seems to hide emotion easily, and where flames are normally at her paws, there are silver ribbons(none around the mouth).
Personality: Freyamon is really kind, and many consider her fierce because of her appearance. She is emotionally sensitive, and seems to feel a lot of angst.
Attacks:
Frozen Ribbons - She extends her paw ribbons and slashes her opponent(s) with them.
The Spirit's True Nature - She breathes a beam of ice from her mouth.
Winter Gale - She develops a cold aura and rushes at her opponent swiftly.
Level: Champion
Element: Ice

Name: Epiphanymon
Species: Winter Guardian
Class: Data
Appearance: Much like (Ko)Haku's beast form in Spirited Away(the wolf/dragon), except more feminine and a bit more furrier. Her mane is a deep blue and her eyes are a tealish color.
Personality: She is really strong-willed and wise, seemingly giving advice at times to anybody she would consider an 'ally'. Her emotions can run wild at times.
Attacks:
Koori Orb - She forms a snowball between her forepaws and seemingly 'tosses' it into the air, then whacking it with her tail, which sends it flying at an opponent.
Epiphany Blaze - She fires a beam of ice at an opponent at a slightly swift pace.
Blue January - The temperature in her mouth freezes and she bites down on her opponent.
Level: Ultimate
Element: Ice

Name: Nayrumon
Species: Goddess
Class: Vaccine
Appearance: In this form, Nayrumon is the very image of wisdom and beauty pulled and entwined together. Standing at 5'8" with a graceful, defined figure, Nayrumon has eyes as silver as the moon on a winter night, and her long, thick hair deep blue in color. Her skin is a wintery pale. Nayrumon is practically adorned in a dress similar to this(but rather blue with grey insides), and she carries a grey staff with the crest of Friendship and Loneliness on top.
Personality: Nayrumon is wise, loving, and giving. When she forms a commitment, she will stick to it until the very end. Her loyalty to Laura and her allies is unforgetable. Always one to give advice when necessary.
Attacks:
Hikari no Yuki - Nayrumon becomes enveloped in an aura of blue light, and she fires a stream of snowflakes from her staff.
Angel's Kiss - Nayrumon lightly blows into the wind, chilling the general aura of an opponent, stunning them for a moment or so.
Song of Winter - Quietly chanting in an ancient tongue similar to Aramaic, a pentacle of light and spiritual energy forms before her. She takes this and with her staff slings it to the ground, a pool of ice forming on the ground. The ice will numb the sores of allies, but give frostbite to foes.
Final Flight to Heaven - Nayrumon glances to the skies, clasping her hands together in prayer. From the heavens above streams down three beams of light energy in red, blue and green which shocks the foes temporarily. They reascend to her staff, and with all power within her, Nayrumon fires a blast of ice in these colors from her staff. As her strongest attack, she is forced to dedigivolve following this.
Level: Mega
Element: Ice/Light

~*~Laura Deirdre - Lonely Soul of Winter~*~
Heaven may be running on empty yet the devil rides

A sigh randomly passed through my lips as I slightly shifted my position on the couch. My current depression was somehow making it hard to concentrate on the game I was playing on my Nintendo DS. Pokémon Emerald wasn't supposed to be difficult, was it? All of this Feebas hunting was starting to slowly seep under my skin. Even though I was alone, and I felt like screaming, I restrained myself. My aunt, the only person who seemed to care, was in America for a few days, helping out my grandfather possibly make a move to Japan, as well. Whatever his decision was, I wonder if he truly cared...then again, I wondered if anybody cared. Especially Hatake Michael.

I sighed yet again at the thought of this handsome boy...I felt sorry for his slowly falling grades. Perhaps he was going to the bottom, and so was I. Well, I haven't had that thought ever since my mother remarried and the abuse towards me began, so I pretty much dismissed the thought. I was now tired and frustrated with what was going on in my life. Groaning, I saved and turned off my game, sliding the handheld system into my pocket, and leaned my head back. Thoughts and memories flushed through me as I did this. It seemed like those and my emotions were all I had left, and they didn't even keep me company.

I was suddenly overcome by a force inside of me, begging to get online. Shaking my head lightly as a chill passed through me, I stood and slowly walked over to the stairs, walking up them steadily and stealthily. Somehow, stealth always showed when I was ascending or descending...as if I were a leopard on prowl through the trees. I made my way up to my bedroom and slowly opened the wooden door, slipping inside, turning on a small lamp as I did so. Even if it was daytime, light was somehow always good for me. And then I remembered the fortune I was told through palm reading weeks ago. I couldn't remember her exact words; only a bit about light, darkness, and my connection to both at the same time. True, I found it odd, but could we really question this mysterious woman who didn't even seem earthly?

I sat down on the chair in my room, slowly shifting myself into yet another comfortable position. I turned the computer on, and slowly watched its work. I got onto my section of the computer and pulled up our Internet provider...ah, the wonders of DSL. First thing was first; check for any new e-mail. My head lightly bobbling, I logged into the e-mail provider, and looked. No new messages from any contacts. They must hate me now, I thought.

I quietly pulled up the Inbox and cleared whatever spam and whatnot there was. However, before I could do this, one message caught my attention. It was an anonymous sender, as well as a message lacking subject. Curiosity overcoming me, I brought up the message and glanced over it. It was simple; a Yes or No link, and a message. It read "Time is running out. Make your move. Will you decide the fate of the world?"

I, with slight wonder, tried to think if this was an invite to some BS MMORPG. However, my hand slowly dragged the mouse to the option of Yes. I was astonished by my actions, and pulled back, anxious of what was going to happen now. The screen slowly started flickering on and off, and in order to check if this was something wrong, I lightly tapped the screen, or so I thought. It turned out to be that my hand was dragged "inside" the computer, yet it felt like a void, a black hole. I was being dragged into this void, and I couldn't pull back. Eventually my body was consumed by a white, softly illuminating light, my body wrapped around with a blue pressure of some sort. I tried to push out, yet couldn't move. A cold sweat trickled down my body, as I tried to push out of this coil. I was now for the second time in my life terrified. An odd symbol resembling a crystal and two circles flashed before my eyes, and that was the last I saw before my eyes shut, my consciousness lost.

~*~*~*~
*~*~*~

I could've sworn I felt a mild air surrounding me, soft grass below my back. I groaned and shifted onto my side as I regained a sense of where I was. I didn't understand how I was suddenly outside, after being consumed by my computer. Perhaps this was a cyberspace-produced illusion? I relocated my glasses and opened my eyes quietly, a wet feeling meeting my cheek. Did somebody or someone perhaps, lick me? A tongue suddenly stroked the cheek again, and I looked at the white body of fur in front of me. I was being licked by an American Eskimo Dog, it seemed. Except this one bore markings of dark blue on her back, her coat shimmering in the sunlight, and her eyes were a beautiful grey color.

"Oh, Laura. You're awake." The canine spoke in a soft, feminine voice, a smile crossing her face. My eyes slightly widened, and now I felt that I was definitely far from home, perhaps not even on my world anymore. She noticed this, and again nuzzled my cheek with her face. "There's no need to panic. I'm with you now." I nodded slowly and sat up. My clothes didn't even feel the same anymore, and my hair was tied back with perhaps a ribbon. I looked down, shocked by what I saw. I was now adorned in a black satin kimono with blue ends and obi, and my jeans were replaced by what seemed like bondage pants: black khaki-like capris with blue straps attached.

"Where am I, and what are you?" I asked, still rather puzzled. She nodded in understanding and spoke some more.

"Laura, you're in the Digital World now. I'm an inhabiting creature, a Digimon - short for Digital Monster. I'm Snowmon." I immediately assumed this world was somehow connected to ours by the Internet. Maybe this was an undiscovered, uninhabited dimmension aside from these beasts. I glanced down, then back at Snowmon, reaching out to pet her. She playfully rolled onto her back, and I rubbed her belly, smiling weakly. Perhaps being a human in this new world wasn't so bad, afterall.

"Well, first of all, Snowmon, mind if I call you Kori?" My free hand slowly traveled backwards, and clutched onto a device which felt much like a cell phone. I dragged in forward and held it, glancing down with amazement. "And what is this thing?"

"That, Laura, is your D-Serenity." The newly-dubbed Kori spoke, her tail lightly wagging. "You'll learn it's purpose later. But for now, we got to meet up with other Chosen Children." She motioned forward with her head and I nodded, standing up. We walked together, yet I was following her since clearly she knew the way. I was still puzzled by this device. It was dark grey in color, its buttons a lighter grey, with a grip the color blue. I carefully turned it over and in the same color as the grip, was the symbol I saw earlier. My eyes widened, so to relieve myself from this shock, I slid the device into my new pocket. We continued to walk forward, and I slowly thought to myself how I really did not feel like being around people much anymore. I looked at the ground until Kori and I stopped, and I glanced upward again, looking at these new faces.

"Hello," I spoke quietly, my anxiousness somewhat visible. "I'm Laura...Deirdre."
