Well, I'm sure we've all tried to figure out how to get a Shedinja (or something with Wonder Guard) with more than 1 HP at some point or another. And time and time again, we've failed.

However, it turns out that there is a way to accomplish this seemingly impossible task! The surprisingly simple method is as follows...

1. Get a Shedinja and a Ditto* to battle.
2. Have Ditto use Transform.
3. ...Um... keep battling? There really isn't a need for a third step.

(*- Any other Pokemon that knows Transform will work. For instance, Mew can also learn it.)

When your Ditto (or other Transforming Pokemon) copies the Shedinja, it will keep its original stats, including its HP. This means that your Shedinja clone now has whatever HP that your Ditto originally had, and this will remain the same as long as Ditto stays in the battle. And better yet, the Shedinja clone also retains the Wonder Guard ability!

Now, I know what most of you must be thinking. "Gee, that's neat, mr_pikachu," you say, "but your little trick is totally worthless. It's a fun little technique to show your friends, but you can't hope to use this legitimately in battle. After all, I can't keep a Ditto in my lineup just in case a Shedinja shows up. Most people won't use them, because there are just too many ways to knock off that lone HP point (poisoning, burns, Sandstorm, Hail, etc). So your little strategy is useless!"

Well, for those of you who say that, I'm going to do two things. First, I'll commend you on your logical thinking. You're right, after all; you can't design a team to take advantage of one Pokemon that your opponent may or may not use. If your opponent doesn't have a Shedinja, you're screwed.

And the second thing I'm going to do? Laugh at your lack of creativity.

Think about it. You can't plan on your opponent using a Shedinja. But what if you're the one who uses it? After all, you can guarantee that there will be a Shedinja in the battle if you use it yourself.

"But wait," you say. "If I'm using the Shedinja, then how am I supposed to copy it with Transform?"

Two words: Double Battle.

This has also been tested. If you send a Shedinja and Ditto out at the same time in a double battle and then have Ditto use Transform on your Shedinja, then (provided that neither Pokemon is KOed before Transform takes effect) your Ditto will copy your Shedinja, retaining all its original stats but gaining Shedinja's moves and its fantastic ability of Wonder Guard.

Please feel free to test it out for yourself. After all, I'm well aware of all the rumors that get spread about "tricks" in Pokemon games. But this one isn't difficult to test, provided that you have a Shedinja, a Ditto, and a way to conduct a double battle. I look forward to hearing your comments.

(Note: I have not yet tested whether this trick works against in-game double battle opponents. However, I assume that it does, considering that it works in link battles. I'll make note of it in this thread if I discover that it works differently in-game.)
