Default ~*~*~ Chronicles of the Rift ~*~*~ ( Late Sign Ups ) Rated M

This isn’t Chronicles of the Rift 3, but a remake, or really a recreation of the first one with a new story. It will also be ran by three hosts, instead of just one. Also I have absolutely no idea what will happen in this one, so far in my post just swearing, could be violence, swearing, man piles, anything.

    Chronicles Of The Rift
    Brought to you by:
    Bulbasaur4, PokemonLuver, and Roy Karrde

    Series Created by
Roy Karrde and Fai D. Flowright

No one remembers how the hatred was born or how it grew to consume them. Two races - one of part animal, one fully human - seemed to always have distrusted and despised one another. The hate was widely spread and grew with every generation- passed down from parent to child, sibling to sibling, and neighbor to neighbor. Perhaps the hate grew from experience, from ideology, or even from the very core of their creation. Yet the extent of the hatred is very clear - hating the other race with such a passion that they wished to see the others wiped from the face of the world.

This world, called Plyos, is a world quite different from our Earth. It is comprised of only two races - Half Breeds and Humans. Half Breeds are a very diverse race that carry the characteristics of animals and can even become animals. While Humans have learned to master the energy known as magic.

Two kingdoms, one dominated by Half Breeds, the other by humans, exist on Plyos, and neither have been able to wage any sort of war against the other due to a large expanse of ocean that separate the two lands. Because of the distance between the two kingdoms, any type of invasion would be nearly impossible. The amount of time for supplies to be carried across the ocean to an exhausted army would be too long and the amount of ships needed would be far too great. It was an accepted impossibility between the kingdoms.

That is until a Half Breed scientist began to notice the length of travel between the two continents by merchants seemed to become shorter and shorter. At first his worries were laughed at, explained as faster trade routes and better boats. But for years the evidence mounted until eventually only one explanation remained. The two seperated continents were slowly drifting together and the two races, who had such a seething hatred for each other, were quickly heading on a collision course for a war that many thought would never come.

Weapons were being forged, battle plans were being drawn up, armies were being trained, but in the end the result would be the same. Both Kingdoms were facing a destructive war that would not end until one race was eradicated completely.

As the High Queen Kiiah the 4th of the Half Breeds watched her armies trained, she could only fear that the future of her race was soon to come to a end. While Half Breeds possessed a strength and a will unmatched by the Humans; they could never match the awesome strength of the Human’s best mages and witches. Worse yet she was afraid of the maniac Prince who controlled the humans. A racist man who devoted many resources into finding ways to kill Half Breeds, either through strength, magical, or even biological means.

With no other choice, Kiiah turned to a unlikely source- three human mages who fled their kingdom in fear of being forced to participate in the upcoming genocide. The three mages sacrificed their life to summon a powerful magic, which reached out to all corners of Plyos, summoning warriors with pure hearts to the Castle.

It also reached beyond Plyos, to Earth, where it reaches you, as you spend the morning surfing the net and stumble on to a PM for what looks like a new RPG. You mistake Kiiah’s cry for help as a actual RPG on TPM and feel compelled to sign up for it. When you press the reply button the screen goes blank, and for a moment you wonder if a power surge has just hit your computer. Yet quickly darkness envelops your room, surrounding you from all sides and then swiftly pulls you in.

When you awaken you are no longer in your world. You have arrived in the world of Plyos, in the body of the character you have created.

You are tasked by the Queen to set out and find a mystical land that is only told about in fables; a land that will hide the Half Breed race and shelter them from the invading human hordes. Time is of the essence- an entire race of people depend on you.

    Will you save them?

Or will you let them perish?

    ~*~*~*~*~ Late Monday Night ~*~*~*~*~

It was the dimming hours of Monday, just a few more days until Thanksgiving over here in America. The day had been filled with ups and downs, from waiting for hours in math class, to finally receiving an internship at a major company. I should have felt elated; I should have felt as if I finally had a weight lifted off of my back.

Instead I felt as if I had accomplished nothing, that I had just sat around all day on my computer accomplishing nothing. It was a nagging feeling that seemed to grow stronger and stronger with each passing hour, each passing minute. Just a year before I would have shrugged off this feeling, cast it aside with the thought ‘I’ll do something tomorrow’.

But a month of building up to the internship, a month of portfolio work, a month of rushing around like crazy, and now suddenly with nothing to do. I just ended up feeling empty, absolutely hollow inside. And with each passing moment, with each passing minute of emptiness, it seemed to grow.

I fired off a quick IM to classy, browsed the normal websites, Serebii, Hot Air, Pokemasters. My mind seemed to nearly go on autopilot during this, as if I would see the website, but not read it, only seeing it for the colors that made up the template for the sight. I hated when my brain would do that, go on autopilot for what made up hours in my day.

It was almost as if I had trained my brain, to go through the normal websites, checking for anomalies, something out of the ordinary that would snap me back into reality. A key word, a phrase, something that would awaken me from my coma like state. It was doing this, the checks of websites that seemed to bring about the boredom, the restlessness, and eventually the emptiness. I had two weeks before the internship, one week before finals.

And this is how I was going to spend that time? On autopilot?

It was an anomaly that did eventually bring me out of my slumber; the zero on my PM inbox had changed to a one. It was something that small, that insignificant, that drew my attention. For a moment I wondered if it was just a article for the December edition of RPG News, possibly Kalah had finished a essay or short story she wanted added.

I moved my hand over the Private Messages tab, a small twinge of regret that I hadn’t really been able to contribute to the last two issues. I made a mental note to do more, to provide more, and clicked on it. The PM ended up not being from Kalah or anyone I really knew, but a new users advertising their RPG.

“Okay havn’t seen you before..” I mumbled, sending a quick question to Kalah and Classy, wondering if either one of them had received the PM or known the new user. Instead of waiting for a reply I went about reading the message.

For a new user the plot was well crafted, something that while unexpected, was a welcomed sight, well in reality any new RPG was a welcomed sight, especially one posted by a member who could become an active RPGer on the forums. Part of me wanted to tell him not to advertise on PMs, but another part, the stronger part, said to fire back a sign up in hopes of not scaring him off.

“Hell, I’m not going to be blamed for scaring the guy off.” I let out a deep breath, sending another message to the others that I was sending off a sign up. In a matter of minutes I had completed the sign up, my hands moving almost with a mind of their own as I completed the character form. “Well at least I will have something to do these last few weeks.”

My hand moved over to the send, hovering over the button for a mere second before clicking it.

Instantly the screen went black and I let out a string of curses that made me wonder if my mother had heard. The freaking computer had shut down, what was wrong this time, did I have a virus? A hardware failure? I didn’t have the money to fix it and this thing was my life line, especially with a job in the next few weeks where I relied on the computer!

I tried to move my leg to kick the computer only to find my leg frozen, had it fallen asleep on me? I tried to move my arm to touch my leg only to find it frozen in place as well. My heart began to pound in my ears, each beat growing louder as my eyes remained fixated on the black screen. It seemed so dark, so comforting, like a giant blanket. Eventually all I could see was the black monitor screen, it stretched out and surrounded everything. Until eventually the whole world seemed as black and empty as the monitor.

    ~*~*~*~*~*

I awoke with a jolt, my lungs feeling with icy air that seemed to sting as it went in and then as it came out. Each breath was a struggle, as if I were running as fast as I could in a blizzard and trying my best to suck in air. The room was freezing cold, and every single inch of my body hurt.

I let out a small groan and rolled onto my back, what ever I was laying on it was cold, flat, and hard, like some sort of marble. The room was chilled, almost freezing like a meat locker, and I was drenched in sweat making it even more uncomfortable. “Breathe… deep breaths.” A voice told me.

I followed it’s advice, taking deep breaths as two strong hands pushed me up into a sitting position. I immediately bent over and coughed, retching actually in a sound so disgusting but no matter how much I coughed nothing would come up. It was at this time I realized I was wearing something heavy but soft, like a large fluffy coat. It too seemed to be soaked in sweat, I was so tired, so exhausted, that I must had been running for miles to get this way.

“Take her into the room with the others.” Another voice said. I was only really half listening, too busy with my coughing fits. I only noticed something happening when two large arms grabbed me under my arm pits and picked me up. These guys must have been giants, I mean actual giants because as they carried me my feet did not touch the floor once.

When they opened the door out of the freezing room I was nearly blinded by the light, my eyes adjusting slowly as I began to make out shapes, humanoid shapes. Ever so slowly larger shapes and detail became apparent as I was dumped onto the floor, my body eventually slumping against the wall. “What the…fuck…” I groaned struggling to make out the color and detail of everything around me.

I was in a large room, filled with large hanging flags and drapes, the floor made out of marble as was the walls, it looked like some kind of throne room you would find in England. “Christ where am I..” I closed my eyes, rubbing them with two fingers before opening them again and noticing a lock of blonde damp hair had swung into my line of sight. I quickly batted it away and went back to rubbing my eyes as I began to make out the sound of footsteps approaching.

“So… do you know where we are?” The voice asked.

My eyes remained closed as I wiped the sweat and possibly ice off my forehead before slowly smearing the hand down my cheek. “I seriously have no fucking clue.” I groaned, only half aware of what I was saying.

Everyone can be in various states of awareness. If you were only transported there and just always lived in Pylos, you guys would be the first to arrive at the Throne Room and would have been there the longest and be the least amount groggy. Those that were transported into a already existing body you would have been there a hour or so, and aware of yourself and the other mind, those that had a new body created just for them, that takes the longest and requires the most amount of magic and skill. As well as causing the creation room to go to just above freezing when the body is made, so you can be anywhere from groggy to alert. Feel free to mingle or just be in absolute stunned shock, or figure out that you are not even in the same body!

Either Kalah or Becki will post with the beginnings of Queen Kiiah’s intro, if not then I will cover it all in my next post!
