Dragonb@ll: Spirit Unleashed
---
It is the morning of the Tenkaichi Budokai, one of the most famous and revered events on the planet. While it is still held in the traditional stone ring, the very same greats like Hercule, Goku, Tien and others fought in, the event itself has become much grander: a one-hundred thousand seat stadium has been built around the arena, with projector screens showing all the main action for those too far from the ring to see, or just in case the fighters take to the air, an increasingly more common occurance. The stadium is also fitted with invisible Capsule Corp standard deflection shields in order to protect the crowd from rogue energy blasts or whenever a fighter is sent flying towards the crowd. The first match does not begin until 12 noon, however, fighters will need to register and take part in preliminaries beforehand, as the event draws thousands of fighters from across the globe, and even friendly Namek warriors travel to Earth in order to compete.
However, the people of Earth are about to discover that a threat looms on the horizon, and this day of fun and celebration is about to become a nightmare.

Name: Zaito Zhin (pronounced Shin)
Race: Human
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance: He is a tall man, around 6' 4" and muscular, but also athletically built and not bulging with muscles. Only his shoulder are broad really, although when he does get pumped up, he does look noticeably bigger, although not significantly so. He has slightly tanned white skin, so he's neither pale nor dark-skinned. He had short black hair that's spiked on top, although short spikes.
He doesn't wear a traditional dogi but instead wears loose-fitting dogi-like clothes but are far more casual. He wears a light t-shirt colored a very dark blue that's almost black, and also has a large v-neck that extends to the bottom of his sternum, revealing some of his chest. His pants are baggy and loose-fitting too and are the same-coloured. His t-shirt bears the logo of the Azure Dragon school on the right of the chest and a bigger logo on the back. He almost always wears blue flip-flops with an orange band, and generally fights bare-foot. He has orange wristbands.
Personality: A somewhat reserved character, he is dedicated to his training and his beliefs. A generally moral man, he finds peace in balance and harmony. He is always willing and ready to do the right thing and is unafraid to speak his mind. While he is mostly calm and stoic, high-pressure situations can often unleash great emotions in his heart, something that he finds incredibly difficult to reel in once he lets them out. One problem he does have is he can be slightly cocky about a situation, although he is quick to realise when a situation takes a turn for the worse. He does enjoy making friends and can be light-hearted when he is not training.
History: As a passionate 5-year old, he was already a strong and accomplished fighter, easily able to beat people with many more years of experience in his fighting school. Impressed with his technique, he was recommended to become a monk under the school of the Azure Dragon. As revered a school as the Turtle or Crane schools, he soon became a talented warrior and very quickly became eligible to learn their most revered and ancient techniques. While many people who reach this level can take a decade to master some of these techniques, Zaito had managed to learn every technique in three and a half years, although had not quite mastered all of them. To be proficient in all twelve techniques is a feat that many try and spend a lifetime, meaning he was singled out as a spectacular warrior in his school. His master commented that the last person to do so was his own master, one of the temple's and humanity's greatest warriors, and believed that soon Zaito would surpass even him. By the age of 15, he had mastered the Bird Form, whereas he has only just managed to master the Boar Form.
Techniques: As mentioned, he is learned in the ancient ways of the Azure Dragon school. Much like the Crane and Turtle schools had their own techniques, so does the Azure Dragon school, which relies on using the heart in order to give them strength. Monks do not waste emotions by screaming or getting upset, but instead unleash as pure power, hence why the monks remain disciplined and stoic. However, the more advanced school draws techniques from 4 schools (including the Turtle and Crane schools). In total, there are twelve core techniques, each one named after the animals of the Chinese Zodiac. To perfect a technique can lead to a Form, a sustainable perfection of that technique for as long as the user can concentrate. As the RPG goes on, what each technique does will be revealed, but here are some of the more basic ones: Bird is flying, Tiger is offensive fighting, Monkey is mimicry, Dragon is energy. To use all 12 techniques in unison is said to be the ultimate power, and almost unreachable.
Relationships: None at the moment.
Theme(s): Character Theme
Powering-Up/Transformation Theme
Desperation/Sorrow Theme
Other: Is entering the Tenkaichi Budokai.

Zaito Zhin
"Master, please, I wish to compete! Don't send Jin in my place, I'm a far more worthy display of our school's talents!"
"Enough! I will not have any more insolence from you, my student."
Zaito closed his mouth and looked down to his hands on his knees as he knelt on the floor.
"Yes, we have traditionally sent our strongest fighter to the Tenkaichi Budokai, as do all the schools, but I'm afraid that once again I cannot send you."
"But master, I'm begging you, I need to find a worthy opponent!"
The old sensei slammed his stick against the ground and gave Zaito an icy stare that instantly silenced him.
"See?" he spat, "This is why you cannot go; your heart and your temper are too wild! You are too undisciplined, and this tournament will destroy the last decade of training you have done!"
Zaito bit his lip and nodded.
"If you fight, you will come up against Saiyans. They are nothing like you or me; they use passion and anger in their fighting, their strength comes from raw emotions, that is how they operate, and they are very strong. You will see them use their emotions and get stronger, and you will try to imitate, but human-beings, we are blinded by our passion, that is why we must channel our emotions, that is why we train for decades trying to control our emotions. If you enter this tournament, yes, you may win, but you may also throw away everything you ever learnt. Is that what you want?"
Zaito was silent for a moment, and then stood up to attention.
"No master."
The master sighed and turned around.
"Good, then we will have no more-"
"Allow me to fight Jin."
"Pointless. You will beat him, but we will lose our fighter for-"
"I will beat him without showing any emotion."
The master paused.
"Impossible. Your passion is-"
"I've been training really hard, and I swear I can defeat him without displaying even a single iota of emotion."
"...fine, if you complete this task, you may go. However, if you fail, you must stay in this school for another ten years, no more questioning, no more tournaments, not a single bit of lip."
"I understand."
Zaito was startled awake by an incredibly loud horn. He was lying on the top of a ferry heading towards the tournament, and he realised he was nearly there. He could see the huge arena on the horizon. He got up and stretched backwards, the joints in his back cracking as he did so. He performed some basic stretches before looking at his watch.
"7.30am. Registration begins at 8, so I guess I'd better head on out. I hear the queues get mighty big at these things," he commented to himself. He picked up the bag he had been using as a pillow, powered up and flew towards the arena.
The stories Jin had told him hadn't been exaggerated: leading out of the registration office was a line seemingly miles long.
"Ah man, look at all these guys, it's going to take me ages to get through all these!"
He landed at the back of the queue and began looking around. There looked like a bunch of tough guys here: several huge Americans in wrestling outfits, some Asians in their martial arts uniforms, plus the weirdos that he had heard about in strange costumes. He tapped the shoulder of the man in front of him: a huge wrestler guy, bald but with a big bushy brown beard.
"Hey, excuse me man, is this the line for registration," Zaito asked sheepishly. The man grunted and smiled.
"New guy huh? I wouldn't even bother: most first-timers don't even get past the strength test!"
"The strength test?" Zaito inquired curiously.
"Yeah, before they even let you register, you gotta hit one of the machines as hard as you can, they only let the strongest people through. It's pretty quick, we should be there in half an hour, unless, like usual, some cocky punk decides to punch and break one of the machines."
"People break the machines? I guess they do get tough here," Zaito responded. He didn't mind being talked down to by this guy: he could sense power levels and this guy wasn't giving off a powerful vibe. Plus at least he was being helpful.
He decided to try and sense if anyone else that was powerful had turned up: in his immediate vicinity, no one, although there was at least one guy nearer the front of the queue giving off a significant power. He sighed and began talking to the guy again.
"So say you pass this strength test? Then you enter the tournament?"
"Nah, you have to pass prelimaries held outside the stadium. Hundreds of people pass the strength test but only 8 people make it to fighting in the stadium, so even if you think you can pass the strength test, good luck beating us pros in the preliminaries. Heck, last year even I was kicked out of the preliminaries by some real strong guy. The weirdo had a tail too."
Zaito noted this; his master had told him about Saiyans; the tailed-ones. Strong beings, and he was more than likely to face one in the tournament.

Okay guys, if anyone wants to talk to Zaito in the queue, go ahead, but otherwise, get gaming!
