Selene looked at the Spiran soldier with some surprise; she had just betrayed her side beyond what most soldiers would’ve done. The Judge moved forward, helping the girl off the ground as there was a brief, cherished break in the fighting since the Spirans were reeling from the sudden loss of men. The woman bowed her head respectfully, as if knowing exactly who the Judge was.
“Judge Luna, I’m at your service.”
“… Who are you soldier?”
“Kaida Liena, former Lieutenant of Spiran invasion forces.” She smiled at the end of that.
“Yes…” Selene looked at the range of dead bodies. “I can see that…”
“Oh! Right… Here…” The girl handed Selene a piece of parchment. She read it quickly and raised an eyebrow.
‘Just how many spies does my father have?’ She thought before looking at Liena. “Well… I’ll put your mission down as a success.”
The girl beamed. “Thanks!”
“Miss, how do you even know you can trust this woman?” Lisettte’s voice cut into Selene’s mind just as the group was beginning to ready themselves again. She looked over at her new bodyguard and then at Sirius, Nii, and the others who were not blatantly aligned with her beloved country.
“We trust them, don’t we?”
“Correction Miss, you do.” The Viera commented.
Selene rolled her eyes. “Alright, I trust them… To an extent..” she turned her attention back to Kaida. “How many more waves are there?”
“One more to my knowledge. It’s larger than the one I exterminated… And it has a tank.”
“Great…” Selene looked to Lyra and Shayna who were approaching. “Lyra get the men ready, another wave is coming and it has tanks.”
Lyra nodded quickly and left Shay’s side to run to the men.
“Oy!” Adair piped up over the commotion of everyone readying themselves. “This band of moderately armed riff-raff is inordinately inadequate to deal with rolling death carts. Unless Sori is hiding an inner Duracell bunny, unlikely, our Spiran friends will be passing the maple syrup.”
Selene raised an eyebrow at the swaggering pirate. “Go get the ship.”
The pilot looked before confused. “Eh?”
“The ship has guns.”
“Aye.”
“You’re a pilot…”
“Of esteemed quality.”
“You can fly the ship that has guns…” Selene trailed off, and suddenly the man clued in.
“Ah. My faculties have been slowed by the progression of electricity through my form. I WAS FRIED.”
Despite the inappropriate time to snicker, Selene couldn’t hold back a chuckle at that last exclamation.
“Oh…” Lisette gave a sideways glance. “And what a tragedy that was…”
He looked her up and down. “Listen missy just because you’re-“
“ADAIR.” Selene snarled, and suddenly the man was back to paying attention. “GO.”
“Right… I’ll be back!” He ran off, down the street towards where the ship was anchored and out of sight.
“Lady Selene!” Temzi’s voice surprisingly broke over the soldiers chitchat; the Dragoon hit the ground as suddenly there was a massive explosion. Pieces of the building next to him went flying every which way possible and everyone was sent reeling for cover. Selene uncovered her eyes to see Spiran soldiers pouring in again, with the loud rumble of a tank behind them.
Temzi looked up at her. “They’re here…”

Selene didn’t exactly like hiding in cover, it wasn’t her style. But many of the men fighting for Ivalice who had dared to run out were either gunned down by the sheer amount of Spirans now pouring in, or blasted into pieces by the rampaging tank that made holding the enemy back a pain. The Judge grumbled, waiting for that accursed Wolfstar and its pilot weren’t going to keep them alive for long, and if that tank reached the castle…
‘Alright…’ She thought as she took a quick glance of her surroundings. ‘Need a plan… Need a…’ She dared to look again and shot down a soldier while she was at it. ‘The square is falling apart under that heavy fire…’
“Kaida!” She cried, and the soldier moved over to her, barely dodging a barrage of fire.
“What’s up?”
“How did you blow up that entire line of soldiers?”
“Grenades Miss, they’re incredibly handy.”
“Right… See that pillar on the opposing side of the square?”
She took a quick glance. “The crumbling one?”
“Yes, that would be the one… Can you throw that far?”
“Unfortunately no, and it’d be suicide for me to head out there. They’ve blasted much of the cover.”
Selene frowned, that was a considerable hole in her plan. The only one who probably had enough luck to run across that square and not receive any sort of accountable wound would be Adair, and he was getting the ship. Either that or he had abandoned them here, and that meant it was up to them to stop the tank, without any sort of air support.
“Right… Temzi!”
The armoured clad man appeared next to her, the sharp sound of a bullet ricocheting off his armour made the Judge wince a little. Then she blinked, and looked back at the silent Dragoon with new hope.
“That’s it!”
“Pardon madam?”
“I think I’ve missed something…” Kaida noted.
“Temzi do you see that pillar?” Selene risked it and pointed towards it before ducking down.
“What about it milady?”
“I want you to blow it up.”
“I have no explosives-“
Kaida abruptly shoved a grenade into the Guado’s hand; he stared at it curiously before tightening his hold on it.
“I will succeed madam, that pillar will fall.”
“Is that the plan?” Sirius called over from another point of cover. “Send in the damn anchor armed with a lance and a grenade? Selene did you bump your pretty little head again when I wasn’t looking?”
“Sirius another comment like that and I break your nose!”
“Right my fiery beauty, what are our orders then?”
“Covering fire!” Selene called, as suddenly the Ivalician side of the battlefield erupted, magic and bullets flying towards the Spirans who were getting a bit cocky. Temzi moved out, his armour deflecting the shots as he prepared to mow down anyone in his way.

Challenge: Post at least once before Rio posts on Thursday. There may be a reward in involved for those that do. It’s open right now to do what you want in this fight, so have a ball killing Spirans. But no, you may not destroy the tank, but you can wound it XD
