The cult of personality.....

Elite Trainer
Star Trek: Futile Resistance (sign ups)
Admiral's Log, Stardate 87003.45
Starfleet has been involved in far too many conflicts in recent years but it seems like things may finally be turning towards the better. Ambassador Rodek wishes to end the hostile relations between the Klingons and the Federation which began when the Klingons took over the Gorn Empire. While the Klingons weren't entirely unjustifed in going to war with the Gorn since they were the ones to attack first, Starfleet feels that the conquest and takeover of another independant empire goes against everything they believe in. As a result the Klingons had no support in their war and relations with their empire grew tepid. While I myself still have concerns over this meeting I do know of it's importance. Any chance for peace with the Romulans disappeared due to the planet's destruction from the Hobus Supernova. Federation aid was rejected from the survivors when it became clear that several high ranking Vulcan officials denied Ambassador Spock's call for aid when the star first showed signs of being unstable. Ever since then Romulans have conducted terrorist actions against Federation outposts and worlds as well as Klingon forces when the chance has presented itself. While the situation has not gone to open war one can only feel that it may be a matter of time before this does occur.
General Worf who will be representing the KDF and conducting ground security at the event has personally requested Captain Data and the USS Enterprise-E to orbit the planet and keep an eye open for any problems in space. However as the Enterprise is currently conducting patrols near Romulan space he has reluctantly agreed to allow another Federation starship in it's place. Therefore I have ordered a newly commissioned Stargazer Class ship, the USS Liberty, NCC 98584 on it's first mission. I hope it's crew is up to the task. The planet chosen as the sight for the Klingon peace talks is near an area where many ships have been reported missing without a trace in recent years. It all started when the USS Insight was reported missing just over two years ago. No trace of the ship was ever found and any attempts to locate the ship or it's crew have only been met with with additional personal going missing. I fear another old enemy of the Federation has returned. If so then God help us all......
-Admiral Janeway
Ok! Finally getting my Trek RPG going. This RPG is set in 2409 in the "Prime Timeline" AKA the timeline where Romulus was destroyed and Spock is presumed dead (when in reality he's in "new" timeline seen in Star Trek XI). This RPG is also loosely inspired by events of Star Trek Online. About 25 years ago the Gorn started a war with Qq'noS over a border dispute. As one can imagine the Klingons did not take too kindly to this. The Federation refused to help as they felt both sides in the conflict were wrong. As a result Commander Worf resigned his commission in order to return home and help defend his homeworld. Relations with Qq'noS became sour when the Klingons conqured the Gorn Empire and absorbed them into their own. Since then Klingons have been somewhat divided as a people with some that lived and served in Fedration space being seen as dishonorable traitors. Both sides however do wish to see an end to their dispute (unlike STO it never erupted into open war between Starfleet and the Klingons....here it's mainly trade embargos and a dispute over the issue of the conquest of another Empire and it's people). Meanwhile the Romulans pretty much hate everyone. They blame the Federation for not saving their homeworld since their request for aid was denied by high ranking Vulcan officials within the Federation. The only motivation that the Romulans have is making other worlds suffer in retailiation over the loss of their planet. However the petty squabbles of all these races are nothing compared to another threat that has been lurking and hidden in Federation space for some time now......a threat that feels resistance is futile......
Sign-up form:
Name-Should be obvious
Age-Once again obvious (For reference this RPG starts on May 25th, 2409 on Stardate 87003.45)
Gender-Obvious.....sensing a theme?
Race-Almost any established Trek race will be allowed with few exceptions. If you are unsure then check with me first ^_~
Rank/Group-Your character will be either a member of Starfleet (serving aboard the Liberty under Captain Summers, exceptions might be made if the reason is good) or the KDF (serving as a member of Worf's security team). Following is a list of ranks from lowest to highest for each group:
Starfleet
-Ensign
-Lieutenant Junior Grade
-Lieutenant
-Lt. Commander
-Commander
-Captain (may or may not be a ship captain)
-Admiral
KDF
-Bekk/Warrior
-Sergeant
-Lieutenant
-Colonel
-Captain (ship captains only: FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE)
-Commander (equal in rank to captains, they just aren't in command of the ship)
-General
Main Job-What's the main thing your character is in charge of? Are you the ship's chief engineer? Head of security?
Apperance-What's your character look like? If you want I can attempt to use STO's character creator to try and recreate your character if you'd like an actual pic. Click here if you want an idea of how the characters can look.
Personality-The general attitude of your character. How's your character act in a given situation? Will they be a rules junkie or willing to throw out the book in cases where the Prime Directive is going to put lives at stake?
Skills-Any important skills that may relate to your character
History-The life of your character up to this point. Feel free to include a brief service record is you desire.
Relationships-Family members and and important friends/contacts your character may have in their respective group. If you plan on using an established character check with me first ^_~
Other-Anything important that other parts of this form may not cover
Finally I may allow you guys to play established TNG/DS9/Voy characters. These types of sign ups will be extremely limited and are first come, first serve. If I deny a request for someone do not take it personally as I may have plans for that character later on or I may not have a way to fit them into the story. If you have plans to play as an established character be aware that in many cases those with a command role or that would be high ranking at this point would have no business serving aboard the Liberty. Relations to existing characters are ok but once again check with me first as certain characters may be unavalible for whatever reason. And before anyone asks the answer is yes: Worf is indeed up for grabs if you are wanting to play an established character. The following characters will however be off limits. Please note that any ranks I list may not reflect their rank in the series. They reflect either established canon within STO/other sources or where I think that character could reasonably be in the 30 years since the final TNG film:
-Most TOS characters: all of them are dead/missing at this point and this RPG has nothing to do with the new timeline. Sole exception to this rule might be Scotty since he was established as alive in a TNG episode due to his ability to come up with seemingly impossible solutions to problems. However the reason would have to be a good one that convinces me to let you play as him: Scotty would be over 100 and has been stated to be retired
-Ambassador Jean-Luc Picard: STO establishes him as alive but he is 104 years old by now. A Federation doctor is studying a cure for Irumodic Syndrome but it's unknown if Picard has it.
(Picard has not appeared in STO, he's only been mentioned)
-Captain William Riker: Currently in command of the USS Titan
(established by Nemesis/STO)
-Captain Harry Kim: Currently in command of the USS Rhode Island
(established by alternate timeline in Endgame, the final episode of Voyager)
-Captain Georgi La Forge: Currently in command of the USS Challenger
(established by an alternate timeline/STO)
-Captain Annika Hansen (Seven of Nine): Currently in command of the USS Raven-A
(I'm ignoring her backstory in STO since I feel it not only disrespected the character, it also showed extremely poor judgement on the part of Starfleet)
-Captain Data: Currently in command of an upgraded USS Enterprise-E
(Yes he died in Nemesis. However it was hinted at the end that B4 had his memories and that Data was still alive in him somehow. The prequel comic established that Data was indeed revived within B4 thanks to repairs made by La Forge and that he took over command of the Enterprise. STO then goes on the reveal that he also helped recreate the emotion chip. The only thing Data lacks are the memories of his death as this "backup" was created before then. Besides do you honestly think I'd led you play as the captain of the Enterprise-E, the strongest ship Starfleet has?
)
-Admiral Kathryn Janeway: Serving on Earth as Head of Starfleet Command. Uses an upgraded USS Voyager as her personal ship.
(Nemesis establishes that she's an admiral by 2379 and STO mentions her by name. It's assumed that all the Vice/Rear Admirals in the game report to her)
If I haven't mentioned an established character then assume they are up for grabs and that any established canon that may exist for them is to be disregarded. However be reasonable......I seriously don't want a bridge crew consisting of two original characters and the likes of Sisko, Dr. Crusher and Tuvok ~_~()
EDIT-It was brought to my attention the a list of some races along with links to their histories on Memory Alpha might not be a bad idea. Following is a list of races that'll be accepted without question for this RPG:
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Human
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Andorian
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Bajoran
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Benzite
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Betazoid
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Bolian
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Ferengi
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Klingon
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Saurian_(species)
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Trill
http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Vulcan
Klingons are the one race that are approved for both Federation and KDF. In addition to the above listed races humans are also able to crossbreed with Vulcans, Betazoids and Klingons.
