When Angels Deserve to Die (Sign-ups)
Okay, well, this is an old one, but I thought it might be time to revive it - this time with more development and actual plot! And a big back story!
Long ago, the Nothing stirred. It grew powerful, but out of the Nothing came the one who could control it, Shenlavé. As the first Something, he controlled Nothing, bending it to his will, creating Lokheidryn, the Land Something, the home for the gods. From the Nothing he created two wives: Terivalos, the Light Mother, and Letashin, the Dark Mother. From Terivalos came the angels: the Race of Light. From Letashin came the demons, the Race of Dark. Shenlavé created Akeldama, the Lower Something, for them to dwell.
Shenlavé took his wives to him, creating four more gods: Leizharaiel and Tervaschen, the children of Letashin, and Tieshavere and Liritiel, children of Terivalos. Leizharaiel became goddess of night and all its wonder, with Tieshavere as her counterpoint: goddess of day. Tervaschen embodied the war-like spirit of the demons, while Liritiel followed the path of wisdom beloved by the angels. Liritiel and Leizharaiel brought forth the first elves: born of the night, born into wisdom. From Tieshavere and Tervaschen came the first humans, creatures of light, creatures of battle. Each race took one of the four cardinal elements: Air, Water, Fire, and Earth. However, the world was out of balance, for the fifth element had never been created on Akeldama. Without the final element of Aether, discord spread across the planet. Their excesses called forth the spirits of excess from the Nothing: a race of cursed demigods, the tezrahael, doomed to wander Akeldama, spreading chaos and despair where ever they went. Their appearance hailed the beginning of the Fallen: creatures who were so far unbalanced that they could no longer be called a member of any race. The gods of Lokheidryn turned their faces from their broken children, leaving their failed world to destroy itself.
As the world crumbled, a young human woman, Mindel, began finding the old temples - cleaning and reconsecrating them. Her preaching drew many back from the brink, and the gods were called to look back to their experiment. They conferred among themselves, and agreed to make Mindel the mother of the race of Aether, who would combine the best of all existing races, uniting them and purifying them until all were worthy to commune with Lokheidryn again.Soon other women brought forth half-angel children: humans, elves, and demons. But instead of bringing peace and balance, they were reviled, treated as abominations. Mindel travelled from village to village, collecting the abandoned half-angel children and hiding them deep in the mountains. But humans do not live forever, and Mindel passed from Akeldama before her children were accepted. Half-angels believe she went to Lokheidryn, leaving behind only her son Azrael and the Book of Mindel. It is there that our story begins....
The absolute basics about each race:
Angels: Light creatures, but not necessarily good. They tend to be arrogant and often look down on other races. They believe their power of flight brings them closer to Lokheidryn, making them superior. They rarely enter battle and are usually highly religious. They believe that the Light Mother gathers them to her after death, making all dead angels gods. They appear as humanoids (often with golden or silver skin) with large, feathered wings. All angels have a weakness to weapons crafted from wood. Angels are mature at 100, old at 900.
Demons: Dark creatures, but not necessarily evil. They tend to be cunning and chaotic. They enjoy fighting, but do not revel unduly in slaughter. Their belief is that at death, they will become darkness itself, and so honor the Dark Mother by making as many children to replace them as possible. They may appear in many ways, though all have a dark aspect to them. All demons have a weakness to running water. Demons are mature at age 30, old at 100.
Elves: Dark creatures as well, but have an active antipathy towards demons. They are highly scholarly, and while courageous in battle, they prefer learning to fighting. They are not as arrogant as angels, but tend to keep closed counsel - they will trade with other cultures, but will not share secrets. They have a pessimistic streak, and believe that the gods have forgotten them entirely. They appear may appear as dark-skinned and fair-haired, or fair-skinned and dark-haired. There is no divide between their racial groups. All Elves have a weakness against crystal. Elves are mature at age 50, old at age 500.
Humans: Light creatures, who hold angels in awe, but have more in common with demons. They tend to look up to other races for their longer lives, but humans have the most vibrant, changing culture. They are very adept at battle magic, though some have learned basics of healing from Elves. They tend to be very religious, but very unfocused about it. All humans have a weakness to fire. Humans are mature at age 15, old at age 80.
Fallen: Any creature that could not cope with the life they were born to, Fallen may appear as anything, have any weakness, and may have some sort of power. They give off an aura of despair, and all Fallens eventually develop pure black eyes.
Half-angels: Creatures of Aether, they are technically blessed with the divine spark of the gods. However, the gods have interfered very little, leaving half-angels a confused and somewhat cowardly race. They are used to being hunted down, and keep on the move to prevent slaughters. They have a reputation for stealing children, though they only steal half-angel children. They live on the edges of society, and try to make do with what little they have, believing that they are being tested, but unsure of what that test is. Half-angels have a weakness to iron. Half-angels are mature at age 40, old at age 400.

History:
Name: Azraefel
Race: Half-angel
Age: 55 - physically appears in his mid-twenties.
Appearance:A little over medium-height, on the stocky side, pleasant-faced, but not exactly handsome. Dark blue eyes, floppy light brown hair, gray-feathered wings, and pointed elf ears. Has scars over much of his body, with one elaborate tribal scar of a resting dragon curling over his left arm, made when he reached age 40. Wears homespun peasant clothes: tunic, leggings, and boots. Has pierced ears and wears a headband usually pulled over the tips of his ears.
Personality: Started off cheerful, if slightly neurotic, but grew despondent over the hatred and violence directed at him. Is still rather neurotic, and tries his best to hide his species, for fear of someone actually killing him.
Weapons: An elven dagger he found in his dead surrogate fathers home. Has some talent with the long bow, but doesn't often have enough arrows to use one.
Gods worshiped: Worships Mindel, like all Half-angels, and frequently tries to petition the other gods, though without much success.
History: Was found by a hunting party of half-angels just outside of elf territory. They debated over killing the baby and sparing him, but were shouted down by their leader. He said he saw potential in the child, and took him in as his own. He began training Azraefel when he was old enough, but was killed soon after by a mob of humans. The young Azraefel moved with the clan, learning how to fight slowly, though he hated to. He knows he is intended to lead his clan some day, but frequently disguises himself and sneaks into human taverns to gain some friendly society. Being caught is what has led to many of his scars.
