Just so you know, you were teleported past the crack in time, so you avoided being sent back into the battle. You haven't gone back in time, you're when you've always been.

Maos Temple
This Temple is hidden within the desert. Entering its halls is forbidden, for it connects the land of the living to the land of the dead. Traps await any unlucky soul who wishes to find sanctuary from the heat here.

Round Fourty-Nine

You begin to look around the basin and the hall. Time has taken its toll on the temple, cracks and erosion now cover what may have once been beautiful artwork. The basin feels as though it was once perfectly smooth, but now sand has become embedded in it, and any colour has faded to dull browns and whites. Your eyes follow the path of the canals. Two move out towards what was once the grand entrance to the temple. Two more move out in opposite directions, into holes at the sides of the hall, where they no doubt split into yet more channels. A further two move out towards the two paths ways, before changing direction and moving off towards the corners. They would have carried water to other parts of the temple, either to act as decoration or some other purpose. Try as you might, there is nothing special about them.

Instead your attention moves to the murals on the walls. On the right hand side are images of large pokemon, ones with lithe and narrow bodies, sharp appendages, blades and claws, teeth and horns. The sort of creatures that hunt for their food, take what they want and fear nothing. On the opposing wall are images of smaller pokemon, softer edges and furry tails, big eyes and bigger ears, slow to move but wary of the world, they forage they hide, but they are far greater in number. The images of the strong pokemon end at the pathway bearing the sword, whilst the images of the weaker pokemon end at the path bearing the shield. Between both doors is a message carved in an ancient language you can't read.

"I can't read this." you think out loud.

A series of high pitched whistles sound, and three pokemon appear on the wall out of nowhere.

Their singular eyes dart around rapidly, and their bodies seem to pulsate just as quickly. The alien letters on the wall dissolve into a mass of stone, before resolving into letters you can recognise. The pokemon vanish as quickly as they appeared.

Go right, and wield the ancient sword
Do battle with the fearsome horde
Yet strength alone will not aid your plight
Remember this, should you choose to fight

Go left, and carry the ancient shield
Stand your ground upon the field
Through shelter alone there can be no one
Who takes victory before the setting sun

Standing tall, with valour and grace
Only through both can you win the race
Chose that which you favour the most
And prove your self to each new host
