I highly doubt this.
No sources. No info. No press release. No nothing.
Is a bull nearby? I think it had some beans.
Aren't we all excited! Eh-heh-heh...no. Actually, I would be if I knew anything about this game and since the majority of the posters in this forum are Gamecube owners and have probably bought this game, is it any good? I've heard high acclaim. Please, tell me more about the wonderful game.

Two particularly unoptimistic sources. If I had access to a scanner, I would scan in the article from the magazine I read it in, which is rather more confirmitive. It mentions that due to poor sales, Capcom are going to release some of their big Gamecube-exclusive games onto the PS2, and among the list was Viewtiful Joe.
Now Mike, give me one good reason why I would want to make up a high-profile story among the gaming world just so I could post it on a video games message board? Hmm?

And yes, the game is Amazing =)
If you wanna buy a Gamecube buy it for this game =)
It better have some serious extras, because it will NOT run well on the PS2. Frankly, an X-Box version would be smarter, but we all know who has the biggest consumer base...
I reccomend the GC version unless a PS2 is all you have. But play it regardless.
Didn't they release another Japanese version of VJ with an Extra mode on it?Originally posted by Raz

Besides - Square isn't Sonys. Capcom has been more Nintendo than anyone else. It's also free to roam about, but Megaman 1-X3 were all Nintendo console games. The Street Fighter series was mainly Nintendo consoles for a long time.
And the PS2 won't be able to show off the graphics nearly as well.
EDIT - Oh and one site says P.N. 03 is going to be on PS2 as well, but the other says P.N. 03 is exclusive to GC.

~ One as true as that may be Sony does own 30% of Square's stock so they do have some say on what Square does. Besides Gamecube can have the Final Fantasy CC game, it's made by the same guy and team that did Unlimited Saga.
And the PS2 won't be able to show off the graphics nearly as well.
~ I wouldnt say that, many games have better graphics on PS2 than on Gamecube, if you want a example check out Gamestop's preview of the new EA James Bond game, it clearly states that the PS2 version is better in graphics

~ One thing that everyone should know by now is that nothing is ever exclusive, except first party games.
I'll do it in reverse order:Originally posted by HealdPK

-The PS2 has been known as of late for having the graphical inferior version of multi-platform games. Normally the Cube versions are fairly solid, while the X-Box is better than that. But the PS2 sometimes has sluggish frame rates (I heard it was very bad in Sonic Heroes) and longer load times.
I'm sure a caring developer could make it run well, but I'm not too sure if Capcom is going to make a caring port or just do a sloppy one for some quick cash (and don't say Capcom has never done this; just look at the handful of Resident Evil ports on the Cube. And I don't mean to include the revamped RE1, but old PS1 versions)
This brings me to point two:
-If Joe is slighty less than Viewtiful on the PS2, some bonuses might make up for it. A few extra levels, characters or maybe some remixed levels for players who have beaten the Cube version.
Um, now you have turned yourself into a liar, EA is a high contender for the PS2, if you knew anything, it is because of EA and the PS2 that the amount of casual gamers have gone up. ALl because of Madden and their online play.PS2 doesn't want Capcom's crap games and...any of EA's games, they want good Capcom games
And Sony does have a Camcom game, it is some kind of Megaman game, I saw it at a store. As for the cube version of Final Fantasy, do you know how much that game is being bashed already, all because of its GBA to Gamecube mulitplayer. If you want to start a rumor like that, do not try TPM, really, try IGN or Gamefaqs, then you will see why not to start rumors like this.
Oh, and the Muffin Man, I come in peace.
If something is wrong, please say so.
VJ is Cube-exclusive. There was a months-old rumor that VJ was being ported to PS2, but those have been shot down not only by Nintendo, but Capcom themselves. Besides, I would just love to see the PS2 even try to handle those 100-on-1 melees using the Slow-Z-ROh attack with the Cube's graphics and keep a solid framerate. Even that or try to do it without burning out. Besides, if Sony's attempts to block Megaman X4, Megaman 8, and their restriction of MEgaman Battle+Chase in the US is a testament to anything, it's that Sony doesn't want "2D crap"
Bottom line: If you Sony fanboys want Viewtiful Joe, buy a Cube.

I still think "Sexcellent Joe" would be a better name than Viewtiful Joe.
I've also read a small article about this in the Official UK PS2 Magazine. In the same article, it said Killer 7 will also be appearing on the PS2. I'm not really not sure whether to believe that. Only time will tell, I suppose...
Even if they don't appear on the PS2, I won't give a crap. I can always buy the games for the GC. I bought the GC because I wanted to play the GC exclusives. I leave all the third-party games to the PS2 because I prefer the controller.

In my PS2 magazine that just arrived today, it confirmed that Capcom are indeed bringing out VJ and Killer 7 to the PS2, with Capcom quotes and PS2 screenshots and everything. I would scan it on if I had the resources, but I don't.Originally posted by Mewfour

Besides, unlike most people (it seems) my balance would suffer greatly should I invest in a Gamecube to buy just one game. And if a 'fanboy' is one who only has a PS2 because he wanted a new console with decent games about 6 months before X-Box came out and because it was all he could afford, then yes, I am a fanboy. But if a fanboy is someone who goes around saying 'My console's better! I won't take any second opinions because I am a close-minded durk! Ewwwwwww, paperweight consoles, I hate them because I don't own them! They suck because I can't admit that my console has any rivals!' then no, I'm not a fanboy.

But the GCN has the better games....
YAMI, you live in England, right? The PS2 was out for over a year before the Gamecube. I wanted a console then. Going for Ł199, I couldn't refuse. Plus, with games such as GTA3, Pro Evo, Smackdown and a decent controller to boot.
As for the better games...it depends what you like. Most games you can get on all formats and I like Pro Evolution Soccer, Smackdown and GTA above all over Gamecube exclusives.

*badum-tsh!*
Back on topic, I really don't see the PS2 as capable of handling VJ without a serious hit to graphics or to the amount of on-screen enemies. But look at the bright side... You could have the slow down effect without using up your Viewtiful meter!![]()
And I'm not a PS2 hater (I'm actually a PS2 owner) but I'm just being realistic.
Fine then, If you can give me 100% hard proof that VJ is coming to PS2, I'll shut up.
Well? Prove me wrong.

If I had a scanner, I'd scan in the article. Nonetheless, it said that in Capcom's latest press release, it had confirmed that Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7 were PS2-bound. I read it in the latest issue of PSM2 in the United Kingdom. I can't find any reliable sources from the internet (what's new?).Originally posted by Mewfour

the playstation 2 is capable of running at 60 frames per second, but it requires some ....extensive... programming to access additonal cpus within the unit. It may seem like i am spouting bs, but ive heard this from a person who definitely knew what they were talking about. using the additional cpus is complicated though, and sony only released kits explaining how to favored developers, such as NaughtyDog who used the knowhow to develop Jak&Daxter, which ran at 60 fps.
Yeah, the PS2 can run at 60 fps, but VJ has a TON of stuff going on at once, with very high level graphics. It would run a serious toll on the PS2's processor. I mean, the system slows down a ton with Dynasty Warriors 4, and that's with a company that's been programming DW games for the PS2 since the beginning. It would take some serious skill to keep the framerate up in a game like VJ and the PS2 would never be able to handle the same amount of enemies with as Viewtiful of graphics.
