“Thank you for coming. I thought these Pokemon were going to drive my team insane,” Prof. Fossil told the group of trainers who had congregated in the oversized tent. I was listening to my Walkman on low volume.
A girl standing next to me rolled her eyes. “These Pokemon can’t be that strong. It’s not like they’re a bunch of legendaries.”
“No, but they’re surprisingly intelligent. You should try to find them before they strike again.” The group exited and split up. I decided to follow Masashi.
I turned off my Walkman. “Tell me again why we decided to take on this job,” I said.
“Good pay, new Pokemon, a chance to get out of the house, take your pick. What happened? You were gung-ho about this yesterday!”
“Until I heard about the news!”
“What news?”
I dug around for Tiger’s pokeball. “I heard stories that a big war was fought here. Something big happened at this very place.”
“Yeah, this is why they want to check out the chamber.”
“Why do you think the Pokemon want us to stay away from this place so much?” I let Tiger out so she can help us sniff out the intruders.
“I’m thinking it’s because we’re in their home.”
“Since when did Charizard live in the middle of the woods?” I grabbed him by the shoulders. “There’s something wrong here. I…want…out.”
“What makes you think there’s something wrong here?” Masashi groaned.
“Ever watch The Mummy?” He shook his head. “Thought so. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I'll stay, though. Someone has to make sure someone doesn't turn you into dust."
