Default Gaming News (week of 3/1)

    Another week, and more news:

-Midway will not be developing the next Mortal Kombat for the Gamecube. The next sequel for the fighting franchise will be for the X-Box and Playstation 2 only. Source

-Sony has delayed its first portable gaming mahcine, called the Playstation Portabe (or PSP), until early 2005. Source

-EA has officially announced that Goldeneye 2 is in the making. Not exactly a remake of the popular Nintendo 64 game, the sequel will have you play as an ex-00 agent. Source

-Is the recent flow of bad news for Nintendo just biased? An editorial series has started taking a look at Nintendo in the news. Source

-Not to be outdone by Gamespy , GameFAQs is going to be having its own Best Game Contest. GameFAQs started an annual Video Game Character Battle contest two years ago. Each day visitors voted on characters they liked the best and whoever accurately predicted the winner won a prize. This may be an annual spring occurance for GameFAQs, which has a poll every day. Source

-Midway threw an event called "Midway Gamers' Day," which showcased their latest games. Source

-GamePRO has released the first screen of Doom III. It's a screenshot of the X-Box version, and more are to come. Source

-The X-Box may not make a profit until 2007. Source

    Reccomended Game of the Week

    Soldat

An interesting take on the shooter genre. Offers mix of old-school gameplay with elements of more recent games.

    Until next week.

~No mediocre fighting game for the Gamecube? OH NOES! :O

-Sony has delayed its first portable gaming mahcine, called the Playstation Portabe (or PSP), until early 2005. Source
~;( Nice job, Sony. Now Nintendo has another few months to devise a plan to blow your new handheld out of the water, as they've done to all other handheld competitors...

-EA has officially announced that Goldeneye 2 is in the making. Not exactly a remake of the popular Nintendo 64 game, the sequel will have you play as an ex-00 agent. Source
~EA = Suck. This games gonna be crap.

-Is the recent flow of bad news for Nintendo just biased? An editorial series has started taking a look at Nintendo in the news. Source
~I personally believe so. You never seem to see any articles about Sony or Microsoft being on their last leg, or whatever they say about Nintendo. Never do you see people claiming Microsofts games are too bloody(as opposed to "too kiddy")...

~I predict the N-Gage winning. Then Gamespy supporting, then bashing it. Oh wait, that already happened? I predict it again.

-Midway threw an event called "Midway Gamers' Day," which showcased their latest games. Source
    ~WTF?

-GamePRO has released the first screen of Doom III. It's a screenshot of the X-Box version, and more are to come. Source
~It's also been determined that NO COMPUTER IN THE WORLD can smoothly run Doom 3.

-The X-Box may not make a profit until 2007. Source
    ~News?

That sucks, the trailer for MK: Deception looks really cool, I do hope Midway bring it to the GCN.

Figures the PSP would be delayed ;x

Oh no. What a tragedy. [/blatant sarcasm]

Just when the DS is rumored to be released..... interesting...

-EA has officially announced that Goldeneye 2 is in the making. Not exactly a remake of the popular Nintendo 64 game, the sequel will have you play as an ex-00 agent. Source

Wait, a James Bond game without James Bond? *tries to comprehend* *head explodes*

I think we all know the answer to this by now.

    *Will be voting Viewtiful Joe*

-Midway threw an event called "Midway Gamers' Day," which showcased their latest games. Source

I'd rather look at a steaming heap of elephant crap. At least the elephant crap would look better.

-GamePRO has released the first screen of Doom III. It's a screenshot of the X-Box version, and more are to come. Source

Hm, more Doom. Yay, I think....

-The X-Box may not make a profit until 2007. Source

Sorry, TMM, but I'm looking forward to it. Even if it doesn't change anything from GTA3, the games still offer quite the experience.

I found it funny that Nintendo not making a profit for one fiscal quarter is news, but the X-Box possibly not making money three years from now gets a big fat question mark. And it is a slow news week, after all.

Because it's somehow a bigger hurt that Nintendo is posting losses for the first time in over 100 years, while Microsoft is posting losses, most likely not the first time, and most likely not outside 100 years.

Another bit of news: it has been rumored that Japan may not give us Chibirobo for the Gamecube. In fact, it's a pretty good chance that they won't give it to us. Oh man, that game would've been SO fun and cute!!!

It's their first loss since 1960s or 80s, forget which. Not 100 years.

1972 was their last loss I believe, though my memory is sketchy and I'm more than likely to be wrong about that.....

Ahh figures. Before my time. No wonder I never heard of it.

But still. 40 (or 20) years between losses is pretty good.

Doom II has been running fine on a Geforce 3, so I wouldn't worry about upgraded just yet.
