I'm sure as most of you gamers have noticed, there isn't too many original games out anymore, it's mostly sequals, remakes or expansions ((or some crappy movie game))

I really don't mind if the remake or sequal is good, but if it's a really crap remake/sequal then it annoys me greatly, Especially when the sequal offers nothing different to the game apart from a few new weapons. The same thing goes with expansion packs, I was really dissapointed with Frozen Throne ((expects to be flamed)), I was expecting a heck of a lot more then what was given.
I could go on about the countless amount of crap that The Sims have churned out, I was expecting to see a HardCore XXX version out sooner or later, they've practicly done everything else.

Sure you get a good game out now and again ((Chances are it'll be a remake or sequal)), but that's starting to become very rare. The only game developer that's been pretty constant with GOOD games as of lately is Ubi soft, they're at the top of there form at the moment.

I'm just sick and tired of crap games, there used to be a time where I could by a new good game every 2 weeks or so, now it's more like 1 good game every month. Some of the good games arn't even available here! I've heard nothing but good reviews from Xenosaga and the .Hack games, yet Neither are available in the Uk! What do you think? Do you think game developers are dry of ideas?

Frozen Throne was not a sequel, but an expansion pack. And compared to Brood War, it added a ton of new content. WCIII and FT have a lot of different ways to play between them.

Sequels follow the doctrine of economics. When something does well, why risk making something new? And sequel isn't the best word, but rather formula. Developers like to stick to safe ideas that sell. Only developers/publishers with a good name dare to think out of the box. Nintendo, Rockstar, and similar groups can sell a game just by putting their logo on the box, and thus they can get away with experimentation.

I have seen nothing but ho-hum reviews for the .hack series...reviews that get lower with each of the releases (which is now over with). Not sure about Xenosaga.

That said, Spinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow had a very refined, but similar single player campaign. The multiplayer, however, is one of the most original and entertaining games I have ever seen. And it was made by Ubisoft, a French company that will no doubt have UK versions already on the shelves. If you want to give it a shot, demos for both multiplayer and single-player are online.

Sequels aren't anything new. They have been dominating the industry since NES, maybe even before that.

The problem with sequals is they mean the game will be hyped to death. Often this will cause the game to disappoint.

I felt that the Mario Party Sequels were all souless hacks, and introducing Daisy and Waluigi. Worst idea, ever. Blech. I've got the original on the N64 and think its tops. From waaaaay back in 1998 lol.

Mario Kart Double Dash was also a souless game, I had played all the tracks in an hour and I was highly dissapointed. They were all pretty boring, with the exception of that city one, that was mildly entertaining. But then again listening to HI I'M DAISY. Every frikken time she turns around sends people to insanity.

Double Dash was a lot more innovative than MK64. And co-op is indeed a thing of beauty. We'd play it more if my friend did not believe my Gamecube hates him.

I personally do not find sequels all that bad. A lot of my favourite games happen to be sequels.

Personal taste, in the end. Also depends on if you really like that game enough to enjoy a second series to it.

    You don't find sequals bad?

Metal Gear Solid 2, Final Fantasy X-2? Not bad? Okay =]

I will agree to a certain degree though as there are some fantastic sequals such as Jak 2 and Ratchet And Clank 2. ((I do hope Halo 2 won't be a let down))

I hope Halo 2 never comes out. I hated that game. x___x

And I liked FFX-2. It was a good game, in my opinion. 8D; ::dork::

That's because WASD and a mouse will always be superior to a controller. Be it Cube, PS2, XBox, or whatever.

Depends on the genre. WASD does not work well with platformers.

The only reason Halo's single player sucked so much was because the level design was so awful. The multiplayer still kicked ass, and Halo 2 shows a LOT of promise.
I personally have had my copy of Halo 2 reserved for so long that my preorder receipt is starting to fall apart with age.

I'd have to disagree. But then again it's my persoanlly opinion over others. For the very few platformers I've played on my PC I find that WASD can be more useful then a controller at times, but that could be due to my patheticly crap controller...

Imagine the uproar in the gaming community if that game sucks.

So, while on the subject of sequels, has anyone tried the tangy taste of Splinter Cell 2? Seriously, I'm tired of partners who just yell "I'm gonna break their necks!" over and over, and proceed to get wasted for various dumbassery.

It has restored my faith in the sequel.
